Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

This chapter coming to an end also feels like we're moving beyond the pandemic. I've been following Kara and Nate far before the pandemic, and remember the videos of their travels in Southeast Asia and Singapore right before major lockdowns. And the beginning and end of van life kind of symbolically marks the beginning and end of the pandemic for me too. Cheers to your future plans

I am going to miss the van life videos and seeing more of the United States and its beauty. International travel is great and experiencing other cultures is amazing, but also realizing what the U.S. has in terms of landscape and its beauty.

I'm so glad that you guys get to go back to international travel because it's what you love but I'm also so sad that the 50 states goal in the van sounds like it's not going to be finished. I was so excited to see if you could potentially get the van to Alaska and have so much enjoyed the adventures with Dusty and his wife as well as Rick and his family that you've been able to have in the US. I also think not being from the US myself watching you guys travelling around your home country has been just as exciting as your international travel because it's all international to me! Still if your back on the international travel circuit I say that you have to add my home state of Tasmania in Australia to the list! We have some picturesque mountains to climb, some beautiful (if a little chilly outside of summer) coastline and awesome adventures awaiting!

I really wanted to see the states challenge finish. I had seen eclipse of their international videos on Facebook and I never quite got into it until they were on the state's challenge. I feel it's also more approachable, I may never go to Thailand but I know that crossing off all the states is achievable for myself as well

People like them are running in circles trying to create content for views, recognition and money instead of actually living in the moment to enjoy their lives. I can almost guarantee they will be staying in places, flying to places and doing activities all for free by companies sponsoring them and that's why they are not going to finish what they said they were going to do in the US. Money is king in their world and I thought at this point in their life (after everything they have been through last year), they would be mature enough to actually recognize when to start to live for THEMSELVES instead of for Instagram and RU-vid! Until they recognize that huge void in their life and also realize that money isn't everything, they are going to continue to spit out recycled content on their channel!

I’ve been watching Kara and Nate for literal years, I remember all of the amazing things experiences in the 100 countries and I can’t tell you how excited I am for more international travel. Ireland is the best place to go overseas the first time. Eat in pubs. Best food lowest prices and get out of Dublin if you can. And bring rain gear.

I started following you guys when you bought the van and loved seeing you explore the beautiful places that the USA has to offer. I was so excited to see the tour of all 50 states and happy that smaller local businesses were getting some much needed publicity during the difficult pandemic times. It was so, so disappointing when you decided to stop that trip in lieu of international travel and I’m even more disappointed to hear that you guys are giving up van life (at least for now). It’s clear that your hearts have always been with international travel and that van life was just a path to tide you over until travel resumed, but I hope you guys will return to van life and the special USA places soon. I personally just enjoy the van life and USA videos much more and would love to see you complete your visits to all 50 states.

I came upon your channel when you were in the Philippines and the pandemic hit. It was clear to me that you were a very adventurous and agile force and have really enjoyed your travels via van. I feel like you have more unfinished business in the US. I knew you were never that serious about the 50 states goal, but it's worthwhile. You were doing a great job of showing people's stories across the US, and showing the diverse landscape of places. Plus it gives more people watching something attainable to do (when you aren't staying in 5 figure a night hotels...) Your travels have run the full spectrum of affordability, and I'm glad for you that you can now do pretty much whatever you want, but I do miss the budget version sometimes. (Though this may not translate to the all important RU-vid dollars...)

I found you guys recently, and as cheesy as this is going to sound, it’s been a little healing for me. Not physically, but emotionally/spiritually. I had all these big plans to travel. I am so thrilled you are going back to international travel! While I enjoyed many of your van life videos, that was more down to how engaging you both are more than any interest in van life. Meanwhile, while I was navigating international travel as countries started to open up (with lots of rules and restrictions in place) I was wishing you had videos this as your videos make great tools, from passing AOW (thanks Cara for getting me over my fear of night diving BEFORE I got into the water) to finding a great guide for Cairo. I started watching you at the beginning of the van life. Then, I went back and watched your previous years. I probably shouldn't have done that because I don't want to watch that lifestyle again. That's the lifestyle of living in airports and very strange places. I have enjoyed the van life because it's some thing I know about and can relate to.

Wow it's the end of an era I have loved following along on your adventures! You guys are awesome and definitely helped inspire us to go on our own adventures. It has been the absolute most amazing experience! I can't wait to see what the future holds! We traveled out of our cars last year and filmed the adventures and this summer are taking a camper that we’ve renovated out to Montana.

I don't want van life to end. There have been so many awesome videos that have come out of it, but all good things must come to an end eventually and if this is the end of the van life vlogs, it has been an awesome adventure that I as a follower of your channel have enjoyed so much. I’ve had crazy health issues since 2013, I’m finally on the mend and seriously working on getting my health back and my goal is to be able to start traveling in a van or bus! You guys are my inspiration

I'm so happy you both are having your best lives. I've lost so much in the last 6 years my husband and my savings to a person who took advantage of my heart and grief. I wish I could travel but I have no one to share the adventure with and I don't know if I want to do it on my own. Al least I can be part of your adventures in a way so thank you for that. While I enjoyed quite a few of the adventures of van life, I think you guys shine the most when traveling the world and experiencing different cultures. Personally, I would love to see you guys redo Year One of your travels now that you are much more experienced, especially Japan when it opens up. You guys have no idea how much you missed in that country and I think you'd love it.

Omg, I could cry. You two single-handedly got me through the first year of the pandemic. I binged all 700-ish (at the time) videos on your channel of international travel. When international travel was ripped away from you (from all of us), I know you tried to make the best of it for yourselves and for the channel, but it just felt different somehow. Now that the international travel is coming back, I couldn't be more excited for you two, since I get that sense that's where your hearts truly are. My wife Lori introduced me to you guys a few years ago, I never really got attached until Van life started and the adventures with Rick, Dusty and company. Lori and I have talked about van life alot, I’ve been going back and forth for the past two years on a motor home or van. Van is so convenient, motorhome is spacious, hmmmm. Anyway I am sad to see Van life come to an end however I feel like Van is the way to go! I want to share and experience these types of moments with my wife and family. Kara and Nate: Thank you, like seriously Thank You. The first video I watched was the Antarctic Cruise series, wanting an escape from my seemingly miserable 2019 travel/life balance as a recent college grad, who travelled a fair bit before graduation. Then 2020 happened: Since then I lost a young cousin to covid, two high school friends as well, I happened to develop two serious medical conditions that will forever change travel for me, and that's on top of being a 1 of 150 ever document medical anomaly. I'm still really, truly struggling to find joy, or get excited to travel, now that the medical conditions have made an already difficult task exponentially more difficult. All this is to say, I can't wait to see what's next, and I've really enjoyed the van life diversion. It's helped me a lot and always gives me something to look forward to on the weekend, even when the Formula 1 season has ended.

Honestly this is exciting! I started following you at about 400K subs, I fell in love with the international travel vlogs. Van life has been an exciting “next best thing” to follow, which you guys jumped into without missing a beat! COVID was an impossible situation and you guys made the most of it.
