Mr BBi: I am a retired MIT-trained electrical engineer. I could easily draw a schematic of the amps you work on, but never ever were we trained in the practical aspects of building high power RF equipment. If I built such a thing, it would probably blow up in 5 minutes (but I wouldn't notice because I'd be dead). Great work!
Broadcast Engineer for 40+ years; I'm truly impressed. Great workmanship. I can't believe someone would invest this much in the hobby. Makes custom cars and airplanes look simple. Only women would be more expensive. Hope to hear it on the air.
I was a tow truck driver back in the 90s and early 2000s (I quit after being hit on the freeway).I crimped and soldered my jumper cables (and reinforced the Anderson clips). My setup worked better than anyone else's in the fleet. The company started paying me to set up all the trucks. Yes, you are correct.
In regards to the eyelets, you're 100% correct! Solder effin everything!! I learned that a while back myself. You're definitely right about the amp now. It's a WHOLE different beast! Thanks for sharing the experience!
In high power RF your connections are everything and a little extra on the connectors ain't a bad thing. I am going to try soldering new ground lugs in the future. Anything I can do to entice any bad rf to ground a little more is worth a shot studies or not. One of these days I hope to afford something spicy enough you will want to install it yourself. And jaysus dude somewhere near you is a power plant that is going wtf every time you get on it. Like all the wind turbines for 500 miles slow down a bit and they got to raise a few rods at a nuke plant or two.
Hello Friends, And Supporters Of The World Renowned BBI AMPS: Luke you really pulled out all the stops on this project. Many people would not believe how many hours you worked physically + the other hours redesigning this amp section by section. I really think that there is something missing from when you initially removed the cover. This amp looks beautiful but it's lacking duck tape and electrical tape. Luke another beautiful creation, God Bless and my best to the family, TMP, Unit 22 from N.J.
@@JamesBronson-hy3rb Hello James hope you are feeling better my brother ??? Everyone I was going to see for new years were still sick from Thanksgiving. The o e family I try & visit every month still has a respiratory infection , she can't get rid of it. GOOD NEWS JAMES. BBI is sending out all my boxes for powdercoat probably next week. I'm starting to get excited, it's been long overdue Endeavor. During the holidays I've been working on my shack & setting things up. How are things by you. ???? TMP, Unit 22 from N.J.
@@thomasperina2990 right on my friend I'm starting to feel better I finally caught COVID man I don't know if caught it yet but it is nasty god 🙏 bless waiting for your stuff from BBi
I'm betting that there's gonna be a lot of work getting this thing set up in the truck. Hopefully the power system, antennas and the feed lines are up to the task.
I would love to have a ballpark figure of the cost to build that unit from scratch from the first wire to the finish. Would $35 grand touch it. Nervous as I am with the amps I have I would be shaking like a dog shittin peach seeds an razor blades. Like I said I have a check down before I say one word. You do amazing work brother I wish I had you to build one instead of what I've been through. I was severely taken advantage of in my case and you simply would not believe it if I told you.
Sounds like the owner blew all his cash on the box and had no clue how expensive it would be to actual feed this beast properly. Most people have no clue how much current it takes to properly feed a 5 pill or or 2x8 box even. Sounds like the client is way outside of his wheel house! I know I could not feed a beast like that and would not want to so I would never purchase something like that.
Hey Luke, I've Never Seen Someone Polish A Turd So Damn Well ! You Da Man 🙂 I would have lost every fuckin' hair on my head trying that shit ! Again Luke, You Da Man ! The RF Cowboy ! 🤠😎😄
I have to comment on the touch lamp deal, I bought my mom one for Xmas and when I was out in my pickup I key my 4pill an the lite had 3 stages and it would go crazy and my mom would fuss an fuss.
WOW IT WOULD BE HARD FOR ME TO LET THIS GUY HAVE THIS BACK. I'D TELL HIM IF HE PUTS ONE SCRATCH ON IT YOU GONNA BREAK HIS FINGERS AND PUT HIM IN TIME OUT.
The electrical B+ potential sitting up on that elevated pedestal is frightening. Less than millimeters from copper legs that are going Straight To Ground. Im yelling on the inside. What am i missing? Is it not as i just described? 🤦♂️ 👉Baddass box. No doubt. But that proximity has me trippin out.
What power would come out of this amp with just the radios drive ? I know it needs a driver but I’m just wondering what it would do with just the radio hitting it.
rg400DS works.. wonders .. that realy up the watt .. why ppl don´t reckognize that is realy wired.. like not using better mobil cabel then the rg58 i use aircell7 in my car to lowpower.. less then 1000Watt HF 400WattUHF and ecoflex 15 for 1000watt +++ all band all mode
(。 ▼皿▼) Excellent work Masta' ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧🌚💫 Do not try and bend the spoon, that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth...there is no spoon. Then you will see it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.💊💊
And ther is way way too littel rg393dual shilded teflon/silver in ther.. i use 50MM2/1AWG 1million thin copper strands becaus the power runs in the outer skin and the more fine strands combined to 1 way less air betwin eatch strand then in a thikker strand cabel
