@sheed6233 honestly this game could've really been fire, it had the best formula of all the games to be the most fire one but it just doesn't hit and the characters don't leave any impact at all, imo it's the most boring kind of slasher made into a game
@Simsoflovepleez sure, I agree they weren't immersed most of it, but tbh I can't even blame them because the characters are so bland and serious. I wouldn't care either if I had to play as mark, kate, or jamie. at some points I had to tune into the conversations during cutscenes to have something to focus on
The thing that pissed me off the most was how they changed the whole vibe of the killer. In the beginning, he came off more as a calm, collected person who set traps and rigged his house up for the victims. Him moving around the house so fast can be explained by him living there for so long and knowing shortcuts around the house so he can get to places faster and before the main cast got there. He was playing it smart and sort of toying with the other characters as like a jab at them, letting them know that he could kill them if he wanted too but just let them do it themselves. To me that was a really cool concept and made him more scary, menacing and creepy in my opinion. But then later down the game, they made him this like Jason, Michael Myers kinda guy where he is now teleporting basically everywhere and now just using everything he can to kill the cast. He just like randomly become blood thirsty, like HUH?! They had so much potential for him and it just flopped. Hope the next game is better than this one and I'm glad you guys stilled finished it even though y'all weren't feeling it at the end. LOVE YOU SOMEBROS :D
There are definitely 2 Dumets. One is Hector, the other is another murderer Hector tracked down(to help preserve his mother). Look at the two types of traps they encounter throughout the house, one type is to absolutely shred bodies, and the other is preserve. Sounds like 2 different preferenced of 2 different types of killers. There is a news clipping in the preservation house that talks about another killer who made animatronics with corpses...Hector prolly found him and started working with him. He even had the dude preserve his dead momma. Nasty mfr
I kinda used the excuse that they were getting on his nerves by defying his traps 'if you don't kill anyone by this point'. He just gets fed up and decides to take em down himself
And even though we heard the recordings saying it was the cop...we literally never heard him speak?? Like ok we know he's a cop, but we never got like a reason!!
And then PG and Berlin laugh at Joe when he was mad was the funniest miss old days they need to collab more these three especially they are like the original group their chemistry is good.
@@Lia-gt9eq Right?? They’re complaining about her being quiet even though she’s out of the game, but then complain when she speaks? I hope Krysta gets the lead character next time and show them
FACTS like her and Joe were the only ones paying attention the whole time and people wanna say she ruined it as if she wasn't piecing everything together
No cap every episode nobody was focused on the game JOE even stopped and told yall to shut up, this game had a lot of secrets and you guys barely found any therefore nobody survived. To blame that only on the game itself is insane. I admit it the story did seem rushed but yall have to take accountability and admit you played it in the worse way.......... hold that L SOMEBROS
They're just a loud group, they have been actively looking for clues at times they think it makes sense. These anthology games are chunky so you're never really gonna find everything. I think they made fair choices for a first playthrough. Not deep enough to get this upset at least.
Bro, idk how they could've looked harder for secrets, lmao. They took forever to move through each section because they were constantly back tracking to search every nook and cranny
I agree that the plot wasn't the best and it was wayyyy too buggy, but A LOT of the reason ya'll felt it didn't connect was because everyone talking during cutscenes and not making good choices during their turn. A lot of the stuff ya'll said felt like a dead end was actually explained/shown with other choices. Like Joe complaining about being in the woods for so long. That's because he was getting lost and not staying on track which is why he got the "most distance walked" achievement. Not developing relationships also impacted the gameplay because the team didn't feel like they were working as a team even when they got split up. I can agree that it wasn't their best though. It was easily forgettable plot wise and was buggy way too much mechanics wise.
yeahhh like I'm with them that this wasn't the best, but at the same time, they also just weren't immersed. A few of the plot points they said were unexplained, actually _were,_ but they had been talking during them. I mean have fun! Do yall of course! But I don't know if its fair to complain that "nothing made sense" when you werent paying attention in the first place. I agree this game wasnt top tier though.
If anyone wants a little (just finished typing it and it’s not little) summary of the story because they weren’t able to immerse, here: The killer, Hector Munday, is an ex FBI agent. He was abused as a child by his mother, which led to him having violent tendencies. He suppressed it for most of his early years, but ended up interviewing a serial killer as an FBI agent, The Beast of Arkansas, Manny Sherman. This serial killer was obsessed with H.H. Holmes, the owner of the real Murder Hotel. He was the original copycat killer and described his murders to Hector as works of art. This, along with Hector’s mother slowly dying of lung cancer, caused Hector to snap. When he was summoned to Chicago along with other FBI agents, he committed 2 murders. He was then assigned to find the killer of the 2 victims, which was himself. During the time of his “investigation”, he killed his own mother before the cancer could, however he did not count her in his murder count. When he realized that he would soon be caught for the Chicago murders, he stole a body from a nearby cemetery and hid it in a warehouse. He then abducted another person, but the police were called to his apartment during the attack, so he fled to the warehouse and set it on fire. When the police found the body, they thought it was Hector. Over the course of years, Hector used multiple fake identities. With one of them, he befriended an old couple that owned an island. This is the island that the game takes place on. The old couple put Hector in their will and gave him the island, which he used to build a copy of H.H. Holmes’ murder hotel. Hector chose H.H. Holmes to copy because the serial killer I mentioned earlier got through to Hector and was the one that started the domino effect, which became Hector’s new life. The guy who brought you to the island in the first place was a true crime writer. The killer invited him and his family, and even his dog, to visit the copycat hotel before it opened to the public. When the writer, Joseph Morello, got to the island, Hector (who I’ll call Du’Met from now on) killed Morello’s wife and one of his daughters. He captured the other daughter and said he would kill the other daughter if Morello didn’t bring someone else to visit the island in his place. Morello was forced to act as Du’Met to get the main cast to visit the hotel. He told them that he was the one who had the hotel built and that they could use it to film their documentary, which would bring more people to the hotel once it officially opened. However, Morello and his daughter were killed once the main cast got onto the island, but Du’Met let the dog live. Now, Du’Met is trying to “leave his mark on the world”, as his serial killer mentor would say. If there’s any typos, my bad, I typed this all at once really quick 😭
Yo, thank you for explaining this. I was not going to look this up, and I know there was more to the story than we saw here. Sounds like they had a good plan for the story. I do think their execution on the game didn't work out as planned, but it had potential.
But why does the dev want the player being the killer when the game promoting to keep everyone alive since until dawn? That's not really a good twist as it just devalue the character as a "mindless obsessed fanboi/fangirl"
@@xxav7864 the twist wouldn't be that there is a copycat killer, the twist would be on who it is. even the most predictable twists can be interesting if written well.
they talked through the whole game and missed so many key points and info, the more characters you have alive the more scenes you play through . this game was actually fire If you paid attention 😭😭
I'm glad u liked it cause I paid attention and still hated it. I didn't give a fuck about the characters, some parts don't really matter, the facial effects were horrible, the intense parts were awkward for some reason, no one seemed to have a big reaction when someone died. The whole story is convoluted. I only liked the saw house traps and the theory of there being two killers or the killer being the actual devil. Other than that this game kinda blows lol
Soon as JoJo died he checked out completely, he wasn't immersed to start off with, but that was the nail in the coffin and he dgaf afterwards, so it was GGs for the rest because he was gunna lob jokes and sh*t the rest of the playthrough...it is what it is.. chalk it up to a learning experience for us as viewers and you guys as content creators. Maybe it was the game itself maybe it was too many players, maybe it was the chemistry idk.. but this was a slog to try and keep up with, thank God for subtitles because otherwise I truly wouldn't have understood a damn thing.
Didnt help that it was some 8+ hours of gameplay in a single sitting, and since nobody was engaged in the story at the start, the enthusiasm to continue could only go down
I loved yall reactions and commentary, it saddens me to see the game turned out this way been a big fan pf this series and all of the dark anthologies. It took a turn at the end of all places for a rushed project. They definitely lost interest for this one to move on to the season 2 premier and it made me disappointed 😞
THERE’S LITERALLY A PLOT TWIST WHERE MARK CAN HELP DUH’MET IN THE KILLING BUT YALL TOO UNIMMERSED/DISTRACTED TO TRULY PLAY THE DAMN GAME TO GET WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR FOH
I feel like 80% percent of the problem was you guys not locked in. 20% was the actual shitty game. Like someone said here, you guys were too busy trying to be comedians. There was also a lot of passive aggressiveness which made it super awkward.
i agree 100% they needed to stop speculating and pay attention to detail. they weren’t immersed more so pay attention to if there was action or scares.
@T e å I watched Poiised playthrough of this and I can confirm it was not the game. He didn't even have that many bugs if any, and his playthrough went by quicker as well because he didn't waste time doing unnecessary stuff AND made good choices. He ended up saving all the characters and the team felt more cohesive especially at the end when they were heading to the lighthouse. Do I think it was the best? Naw. Plot wise is was boring. Somebros' play did have a lot more bugs and mechanics issues too. The killer sucked and the characters were all unlikable, BUT a lot of the criticism Somebros was mentioning was because they weren't locked into the game. They didn't understand most of the story because they were talking during every cutscene and everyone's turn (especially in the beginning when it was getting set up). They made pretty much all bad choices which is what lead to them not opening up more of the story. You don't have to read every letter but if they hadn't of been talking, they would've gotten clues and pieced stuff together a lot easier.
this game definitely wasn't as good as the other ones but it wasn't as bad as it seems in this playthrough. I just feel like y'all played it wrong, there was 100% more in the game that y'all left untouched.
@@jashaunowens2907 there's literally 1 other ending. They just missed information that would've kept their characters alive. They were so focused on building this conspiracy the entire game and didn't pay attention to the actual story. And to be fair, they played it day one before the patch. Every game has bugs first day.
It definitely had bugs, however, I think part of the problem was them not fully paying attention to details (like the writings). They were talking a lot during the cutscenes, so they missed a few things (example: they could’ve saved both krysta’s character and jojo’s if they saw the crack in the glass). The story is actually interesting if you read everything and remember the little details! I agree that the ending was bad though, but I still enjoyed it :D 💗
ur right about them not paying attention but literally no one ive seen play (including me) saved erin bc they saw the crack in the glass even when paying a bunch of attention. most people only saved erin cause they didnt like kate or bc of her asthma.
They should do it again. All of there other supermassive play throughs are so good. This one they just weren’t as immersed. The house of ashes one was amazing. Hopefully there more immersed in the next one
Nah these series are usually fire, they weren’t locked cause the game wasn’t good to them which is understandable. They said they weren’t with it at the end, It’s hard to stay focused and get into a game when stuff doesn’t make sense to you or it’s really buggy. Stuff like that ruins the immersion, you can see it in the prologue, they were fucking with it till they weren’t 😕
@@Simsoflovepleez I wouldn’t know cause I only watched the 1st part and some of the 2nd cause I seen they really didn’t care for it. I seen the end of this vid where they were talking about how buggy it was and went off of that. Their other playthroughs with supermassive were good, this game just rubbed them the wrong way cause when they’re dialed in it’s great content. And the uploading was whatever, it’s not a main channel just a fun side thing seems like, the uploads were kinda spaced out but they got other stuff to focus on, holidays, the new year, I think Berlin said he’s moving in a little, is what it is
@@Gary-bh4gn well I mean the long times in between uploading isn’t really an excuse none of them besides Berlin really upload on RU-vid, they all stream and even then he’s also been kinda lacking in uploads but I mean that’s his prerogative. Point is why even make a group channel, but have such a lackluster upload schedule? They’re successful in their own right, but for something like this to succeed there needs to be consistency. Can’t expect a viewer to stay invested on a series that was started months ago, and even the people playing really ain’t feeling it either, but that’s just me 🤷♂️
This was the worse playthrough ever😭😭this beats Until Dawn😭then y’all complain about the game when y’all were talking over the game the entire time which is why y’all didn’t understand it. Y’all even skipped the part where y’all learn the killers identity in the other episode.
@@daveagard1884 💀🤣 honestly tho Berleezy really shouldn’t be talking when his decision based gameplays suck booty cheeks on a daily . Ain’t nun serious bout his gameplays, he didn’t seem to care to dive into the technicalities of the game itself. Nowhere in the play through did he make theories that actually derived from the game itself, mans was just talking and not paying attention and was tryna be funny - this also applies to everyone else.
literally why are y’all even here then ? U don’t sound like supporters just enjoy and watch and go watch someone else’s gameplay since ur so pressed they clearly said why they couldn’t immerse at the end the game is trash
@@nalanionley458 no it wasn’t them it was the game if I was playing it for some hrs n the game started getting boring bcuz everything wasn’t making sense I would be talking on the side or on my phone
Kate and Erin could've lived if somebros paid attention to details and didn't overthink it but other than that a lot of things didn't make sense in the game, especially towards the end. I agree with PG, the creators probably had to rush at the end.
Yeah the Erin part I agree, since they overthought that part way too much. It’s just not reasonable to have your first thought be “two characters are in danger, if I pick none- maybe they’ll both survive?” That’s a very low chance, it’s more likely that both will die or only one will die. There really wasn’t anyway to guess that Kate could survive the first trap, but it was obvious to just think “save the girl with asthma with a trap dealing with air.” I don’t really blame anyone for Kate’s death with the glass though. It’s a slim chance. Funny how the one time they could’ve overthought and decide to “do nothing to possibly save both” would actually work- but they didn’t do it since they learned the first time. The only way to really survive that is to do nothing and let one of them get squished by the wall and the tool will automatically save that character
This!!! They were too busy fighting over nonsense and not paying attention to what the game was already giving them and chose to not look for more clues to help them better understand what they are dealing with.
@@chiomorii Kates death wasn’t as obvious as Erin’s but if one of them just realized that Jamie had the screw driver and could’ve stopped the glass wall like she did with the sliding wall/door instead of “I gotta save my character, sorry”. They didn’t really think about that part.
@Barely Audible I could be wrong but I think that the only way Kate and Jamie both survive is if Kate has the screw driver and Jamie chooses to make the wall go towards Kate. I feel like I saw someone else do it and Jamie ended up dying but again I could be remembering it wrong
Here's a sincere opinion from someone who enjoys watching you guys. Next time, talk less, pay more attention to the game and upload quicker. This should make a better experience for you guys and us. Also, don't bring a friend if he's not going to play the whole game, it's just more of a distraction. Rio didn't have to be there, even though he's cool. Five of you would be enough and it would bring more tightness to the group. Berlin, this goes especially for you, since you made a few big mistakes that might've made it worse for the gameplay by killing Krista's and Jo's character and therefore bumming everybody off the story. Just pay attention and you won't need to overthink stuff. Joe can be rude and comical when he tells you to shut up but he's right.
Well to the rio point you could say the same abt jojo and house of ashes but that shit was fire so i don’t agree with you there. I agree w everything else except Berlin killing ppl off bc honestly most of us woulda made the same choice, it seems like you would have to have chosen out of pure luck & the explanations were lazy asl on the devs part (Kate and erin i KIND OF see, but i think we can all admit Kate and Jamie was bullshit)
exactly, it was more fun when they were less. like in man of median, little hope, and house of ashes. the more they are, the less they immerse. i admit the game was not good but I wish they would focus more on the details of the game
Ngl this game almost felt like an open world so I see why they were talking. Plus trying connect the clues. If I was spending 30+ mins on my turn walking around getting confused I’d def be talking. But I get the no talking when there’s dialogue
This just felt like the wrong game for y’all. This game relies on you being immersed to get the value of the story. Like half of what y’all complain about would have been different had y’all not be talking and joking over important parts and got you characters killed basically missing a third of the story and a lot of scenes.
yeah cause this was the worst of the dark games but it wasn’t THAT bad how somebros is making it, they just saying that cause they didn’t know what was going on from talking and got everyone killed so they missed alot of dialogue and storyline. hopefully next time the group is smaller and the mic problem is fixed .
I said it before and I'll say it again, this game was the trickiest one yet. If you werent immersed/finding EVERYTHING, its a tough time. Story was a bit convoluted too. I think the game has 2 killers, but the game hiding that for no reason. What we playing the game for if we not gnna get questions answered??? In that regard, I sympathize with Somebros. If yall fiending for a perfect ending, especially from familiars. Dwayne and Jazz got it again. They went beast mode for it(and had criticisms too). Edit: Forgot to mention that Poiised also got the perfect ending. Shoutout to PoiisedGang
the two killers question is never answers because it’s false… Every game answers most of their questions. You guys just hang onto nothing but a theory then get surprised when it’s not confirmed?
Fr because the game had me thinking there were at least 3 killers with the way he kept showing up everywhere. So unless the Dark Anthology is gonna put all the stories together at the end somehow(?) and this was truly a "lull in the season type-game", like all the reoccurring face models being people trapped in the Curator's storytelling or something and they just need to get to the next game, then the rushing of this games production feels like such a disservice to the team working on them and the fans receiving the games. It's a disservice either way, but I think I just really wish ANYTHING about this game was justified.
@@divinepixilation9172 When I mean 2 killers, i dont mean the Somebros theory of there being one in the crew, I mean 2 Dumets. There are certain clues in the game that hint to another killer aside from Hector Monday, as well as the constant appearance of the killer(especially at two places at the same time different character events are happening. Hector cant do it ALL by himself. Being an ex FBI agent, there is a hint in the body preservation place that shows he may have found another killer to join forces with. This other killer may have helped Hector preserve his mother.
Supermassive came out and said this game isnt meant to be supernatural. Hector Monday is definitely dead at the end of the boat crash. The guy who picks up his mask, and settles in the new house(that Hector bought) is likely the other killer Hector found and started collabing with.
I'm not tryna be harsh or mean but this was probably the worst eezygang group gameplay , everyone kept talking over the game which isn't a problem most of the time but when your doing it constantly it gets annoying, not only that some of all (not gonna say names) weren't even immersed in the game, which took out the immersion for the watchers too, hopefully the next dark pictures game y'all play will be better but this was NOT it.
I agree with you one hundred percent. The game wasn't as good as the previous ones, less interesting, and the devs dropped the ball on this one. However, they were constantly talking over each other during cutscenes and movies, the aggressiveness made the scenes awkward, and they were coming up with theories, and the killer JUST started killing. They came up with theories with n solid proof or evidence to conclude their theories. It was tough to watch
Berleezy is one of my favorite RU-vidrs and I discovered the Dark Anthology series with the help of his channel. Through his channel, I came to love watching the bros play together, piece together the evidence, work together, and cheer each other on in order to help everyone survive. However, this was the worst playthrough of the Dark Anthology series yet. Since the first episode of this playthrough, them pushing the "he's the mastermind" narrative made them pick each other off, argue amongst themselves, distracted from the actual point of the story, and belittled the narrative that Devil in Me has in its context and subcontext. Krysta looked SOOO (UNDERSTANDABLY) fed up the first few episodes and after her character died because of that energy. They ran through areas, overlooked clues and obols, disparaged the writing and set up of the game, then blamed it on the developers instead of their passive, unimmersed gameplay. It feels like they weren't even remotely in the mindset to play this game to the fullest and let mistakes or glitches overwrite every other emotion or expectation they had. The whole "choosing whodunit" doesn't even apply to the Dark Anthology games, as the simplest and truest part of every single game released in this series is that the entire main cast (AND extra characters at times) can all survive until the end. Even though I know of and admire their "IDGAF" attitude about haters in the comments or people micromanaging their play style, as a fan, I know the bros don't want terrible playthroughs or lame content, but that's basically the epitome of what this was. Y'all and other fans will say "if you don't like it, don't watch" but the entire reason I watch in the first place is to support the gang, the content they usually put out, the good vibes, and energy they thrive off of. It's because I'm a fan this series disappointed me to the extent it did cause yall can do better than this and have done better even on your worse days. Imma be real: If you don't want to play the game and don't gaf about paying attention to it, don't bother putting out the playthroughs. DO YOU. Real fans will hear you say "I don't want to play this" and be like "cool, they don't wanna play", but if you play stuff just to play it and run through it for no reason, there's no point in even doing it cause the result will get you bad ratings, disappointed fans, hate comments, and negative energy. The last thing anyone wants for yall or this channel is any of that. I hope going forward yall do many more playthroughs that resonate with you, not things that you're gonna hate doing and ruin the gaming experience for yourselves. I BELIEVE IN YALL and am excited to see the new stuff yall are gonna play.
Thank you. While the game definitely had its cons like the glitches, and the weird & unnecessary actions of the characters like Charlie opening the freezer & Munday not seeing it, they let all that cloud their judgment rather than actually paying attention to the story and the notes I get reading constantly is boring and not everyone wants to do it, but when u don’t put in the effort to learn the story, it’s hypocritical to then hate on the game bcuz u don’t understand the story Their “idc” mentality towards the comments is valid when it comes to people just hating, but when it’s ppl genuinely trying to give criticism constructively, they should listen In some parts, they just were not paying attention or talking and missing dialogue that could help them understand the story better If one of them were to watch their playthru all the way through like we did, guaranteed they would get annoyed w/ all the talking and one-sided thinking. Hopefully in 8020, they will listen to the cutscenes and not try to solely stick to one idea bcuz by them killing off the characters, they r bound to miss info, a reason on y it’s a decision based game
They had a lot of criticism that was valid, but ya can't give up on the game to get everyone killed and complain about the ending you got though lol. There are a few more answers to their questions depending on who survives and how you play. The grandma, killers background and the guy with his daughter are explained depending on the gameplay, esp on who survives. But just about everything else was pretty spot on. I was immediately thrown off by the prologue razor scene not showing any lacerations at all.
YALL GOTTA GET THE HOUSE OF ASHES SQUAD BACK. that was the best series by far out of all of them so why wouldn't they go back to that squad it doesn't make sense. They all had chemistry in that game
Could be they scheduled don’t connect or trying get different player to have different experiences but I do miss me some rico he was great in house of ashes
They did give up, they didn’t even try on the boat and that lowkey pissed me off to where I disliked the vid💀It would’ve been fine if they tried and then failed and had no survivors bc that’s what happened when I played with my friends, but the fact that Pg not Berlin tried really irritated me💀
@@saniyyahpeoples8085 honestly what’s the point of it after seeing how all of their characters died? I would’ve let myself be killed at the end too😭 you won’t understand the story unless you collect EVERYTHING and not everyone is going to do that
@@solarsystem5821 They really didn’t even have to collect everything especially those coins. They really just needed to pay attention to the audio recordings and a few other details. Plus they didn’t pay attention to most of the game and were talking over people’s parts. Along with them not paying attention, they were making goofy ass theories which got some of them killed. I’m not gone say it was 100% their fault bc when I played with my friends we thought it was kinda goofy and got irritated through most of it and killed everyone but Erin. But at the same time, it is kinda their fault their gameplay was kinda trash
No way y’all really just killed your selfs at the end of the game, disappointing but hope y’all are into the next game that comes out. The space theme looks so cool I know y’all will rock that
Back in November i really enjoyed this game, but looking back it was very underwhelming 😭 I really hope the next game is closer to House Of Ashes in terms of story than this one.
Yeah House of Ashes had more likable characters and choices were fair. I do give credit to The Devil in Me for having multiply endings depending on who survive since Men of Medan and Little Hope didn't really bother to make any differences, but in Devil in Me there is whole new ending if Mark and Kate survive and Mr Du Met forces Mark to become the guy who invite the next 5 people on the island. We later then see Mark and Kate escape and get shot by sniper rifle, the same way the other fake Du Met and his daughter died.
@@sn0wyc0sm0 but that would make more sense for house of ashes since they are vampires. the killer for this game isn’t a supernatural being so there’s no reason for him to be alive after countless of times he should’ve been dead and he teleports like be so forreal. but in all this was their worst game handdssss down and I hope the next season is better produced since it’s the first game of season 2
Honestly the game was just ass. Notice how they do the worse in the worst games in the series (quarry and this game) but do the best for the best game house of ashes
@@memerz4525 nah at least the energy was still high when they were playing the quarry, this game they all were unenthusiastic. Even if they lost a lot of characters in the quarry, everyone looked like they were eager to see what happened next. This game gotta be the worst one, cause it barely gives you any action commands, wasn’t as long, less characters, and only gave you a couple decision options
This game felt like you had to be a little more immersed than the others. Like you had to search DEEP for answers and then tie everything together yourself. I also think the characters dying cut out certain things that probably would’ve made the story make more sense. Overall to me it was confusing because I’m following their specific play through. some are upset about the wait but as someone who edits…it takes a long time! Lol..hopefully the next one y’all with vibe with more.
Let's not pretend those cut scenes didn't happen because they killed 3 people lmao. Also, story was complex and they didn't care to read or pay attention to much. They wanted to be funny and fast, only for the editing to take several weeks anyways. Glitches do need to be fixed though, and long wandering in the forest as halls, needed to be cut short. Overall, the beginning was pretty good. Once they started killing people off, it started to feel lost. They got pissy cause their character was gone, and it ruined the prospects for a good ending. Love somebros, been watching them play these games for years. Still wanna see what they bring next year. Hopefully it brings a better experience
You talk through all the clues, skip most of the info cutscenes, complain about everyone talking through your turns, then say this story can't be defended? It's not a perfect game but it has an intricate story on how the killer became a killer. Even his childhood. But you didn't pay attention and now it's the developer's fault you can't figure it out? This is a disappointing gameplay from you guys.
For next gameplay it’ll be cool if you guys watch other endings and discuss how the “true ending” is to find out all the twists and turns. This game did a bad job with the storytelling, but after watching the game explained and the secret ending this game has, the story actually is a lot more interesting and actually makes sense
Ngl some of these deaths are due to poor decisions and not paying any attention to the game especially Kate berleezy just straight up off’d her without thinking too much of it
I mean to answer something Jojo and Berlin said there was a "kinda" twist where I believe depending on your choices mark would help the killer out. Also if you payed attention to certain things then you would realize that, that old lady was his mother. In one of the audio tapes I believe a detective or somebody was discussing his rocky history with his mother. Edit: And let me me jog yall memories do yall remember when it was berlins turn and he was just like "f reading" basically.....I'm not trying to say it but....🥴....not to mention they were talking over cut scenes with information in them....😗
I guess it just depends on what types of games people like. Some people like more action in a game and others actually like more plot/story to a game. Whichever can cause the player to judge it to be bad based on their preferences
Hi-key. I’m happy I watched other play thru this game play months ago and find it funny that the algorithm auto played this. Chemistry wasn’t there at all and all the talking and not paying attention is the reason why this wasn’t a good play thru
1:11:49 had me crying 💀 Supermassive really did fumble the bag with this one, the need to stop focusing on pumping out a game every year and make sure they are polished. Telltale made the same mistake and went bankrupt for it, they are lucky they have gotten a second chance but Supermassive won’t be as lucky
I really don't understand why Supermassive pumps out these games RIGHT after one another. I can't remember who said it, but you can tell each of the ones in the Anthology were made by different people. People would love these games more if they just consistency in quality, and we'll take longer release times over better games any day.
nah this was not it. forget all the bugs, forget the confusing story elements at times, what made it bad from the jump was everyone either not paying attention or overlooking everything. this entire series was just skipping the important details and sticking to one theory, which essientally got two people out of the five killed. when you guys did your house of ashes playthrough, you guys sat through those journals about the vampires and all that, but this time, it feels like you didn't care. it felt like the whole thing was soured by no passion. you made us wait months for this playthrough, building it up, just for it to end with everyone dead besides connie, the dog. the fact that you gave this episode that title makes this even worse. i know i'm about to get clowned or thrown into the sea of comments, but i'm speaking my mind. i feel like if this way of playing continues, it's just gonna repeat. tl;dr: this was singlehandedly the worst experience because of no one really caring or running with theories that don't stick. i waited months just for this and i'm upset. edit; i love these guys, and i love all their other videos and content. i'm just saying this one, was not it at all. i'll be watching their playthrough of directive 8020 when the game comes out and they play it. final edit *hopefully*: take 47:32 for example. look at the moment right before charlie's death. not a single person is paying attention besides joe, who's playing the game. come on, you guys have to be better than this than to look at your phones during this.
While this wasn’t my favorite in the Anthology, I agree that a big reason they weren't immersed was like you said, they simply weren't paying attention. I'm not gonna lie, I felt like something was off in the first video they uploaded. I literally went "Okay, I don't think I'm gonna get any of the story watching them, so I'll go watch someone else and then come back." I left to watch Dwayne n Jazz play it, understood the story, and then I came back here to Somebros. Their playthroughs are literally night and day, Somebros was so not immersed. I'd say the "downgrade" was 50% the game and 50% them. Love em though!
@@CaptainBuggyDClown nahh this one was different. Game had bugs but they literally wasn’t trying… people arguing and calling JoJo bitch…. Shit was a mess
Finally someone who isn’t afraid to say the truth This series was a never-ending cycle of hypocrisy Someone would play the game, & then tell everyone to be quiet so they can immerse. Then, when someone else plays, the same person telling everyone to be quiet, starts talking over the current player, which makes the player upset. This group just doesn’t know how to be quiet and pay attention to the story bcuz while most of it is told thru collectibles, if they actually payed attention to them, they wouldn’t be so confused and pissed. Not to mention them just finding little things to nitpick at the end They were never immersed to begin w/ & got upset bcuz at the games new mechanics, but only cared abt them once Joe’s character got bodied. Hopefully they learn how to pay attention during 8020
Y’all just giving up on the game at the end is lowkey lame asf. Even though the game is ass, y’all could’ve made the best out it. Also the constant talking and talking over each other made me less immersed.
I think they actually did make the best out of how they felt. By the end, they didn't care at all about Jamie and Mark, so even if those two had lived, they wouldn't have felt any excitement over it. Live or die, they felt nothing for those characters. But they did care about the dog, and said they were proud that at least the dog made it. So it's still technically a win in their eyes lol
The shit about the gameplay and bugs is definitely valid, but the story wasn't nearly as bad as y'all are making it out to be, it just suffers a bit from being told through notes and collectibles more than any of the other installments were. Like even the teleporting killer is explained if you actually read, but y'all were just not vibing with it.
Constructive criticism: y’all talk over the game so much that you miss clues and end up getting confused later. It’s really hard to immerse when we can’t hear the characters’ dialogue, y’all skip all the potential clues, and then y’all make theories with what little clues you have. If you guys are going to talk during the gameplay and then lower the volume of your conversation so that we can also hear the dialogue in the game. Or after you guys finish 4 to 5 character switches you can pause to discuss what you’ve learned so far and theories. I’m here for y’all just as much as I’m here for the game play through. What that being said thank you guys for making time to get together and film content for this channel!!!
The game was weak straight up but the blame is not 100% on the games lack of exposition. There were definitely details that were clear to see that would’ve helped in understanding the story but y’all didn’t pay attention enough. It felt as though everyone was trying to put in their two cents during times where critical information was being given, such as cutscenes or reading letters. I feel like how they felt about this game was how a lot of us viewers felt about watching this playthrough, great promise in the beginning with shoddy progression to a lackluster ending with little to no if not shitty resolution.
The game was buggy, but the way y’all are complaining about the story after making some of the wildest choices and skipping key details of the story is insane 💀 Said “We don’t even know who the copycat killer is” and “there’s no reason to engage with the notes” in the same breath 😭
Viewers did not deserve to wait this long just to see that y’all give up and talk over the whole video we love y’all but don’t complain when y’all wasn’t immersed from the start
I would love to watch videos where yall sit down and talk about the good, bad, and ugly of games. For somebody like myself who is into game design as a career, it's a fascinating and helpful source. With more talks/discussions like y'all had at the end, maybe newer and better games can emerge and not just from Dark Pictures.
I don't know if they are best to give a review since they didn't pay attention to most of the game. they skipped through most of the context videos, only paid attention on their turn, and didn't pay attention to any detail. Also, most of their characters got killed so half the story line was cut out then blamed the developers for a poor story line.
@@mylahxelise4626 it's almost like the game simply wasn't that interesting and they pay more attention when presented with a better game. Idk why people forget the previous anthology games they played and act like they dont know how to pay attention
Pg fr was spitting at the end when he said that the game definitely got its budget cut, all the other anthol games had their own release year while this game released the same year as the quarry. The budgets definitely got split between this and the quarry and it's clean the quarry got more money with how detailed it was
this game was horrible 😭😭 cant even blame y’all update: i was wrong. the game is extremely good and detailed i just watched a video explaining the story. y’all had to do a lot of of reading and it explained everything. it’s so in depth & really good, i hate to say it but yall just played it wrong
It might have a good story behind it but if the gameplay isn’t enjoyable then you aren’t gonna feel inclined to participate in understanding the story. Like you said you watched a video to explain it instead of searching the game.
@@andrewrouse9464 I mean JohnWolfe, Teo, Jazz and Dwayne gameplay compared to Somebros game is day and night. Meanwhile somebros doesn't even know the killer identity when there are like 12 hints repeat the killer name dozen dozen time. Johnwolfe complained about knowing the killer identity too soon. It's super extremely ironic when it's berlin turn to complain "not knowing the killer identity", he show the clip on screen IS the answer. FBI Hector Munday Them "We try to outsmart the game" but also them "We have no reason to engage in the clue and hint" Heck look at 47:32 everyone is on their phone. Game has issue yes but this is seriously their fault for not paying attention to the game and complain it's the game mechanic. bro didn't press RB to check bearing to "outsmart the game" and killed Kate while Teo and Flash did check and successfully piece the clue and save both
So I do have quite a few things to say and this might be an extremely long comment but here goes nothing. The Game: Devil in Me is probably my least favorite game out of the Dark Anthology Pictures. The plot bored me and it felt rushed despite it being a cool concept. It sucks because I was incredibly hype for the game only to see the finalized product. I feel like we immediately jumped into the gameplay without much storybuilding/enough time to just enjoy yourself at first. With that however, you had to find out a lot of stuff by actually reading the notes which I’m starting to find repetitive in every horror game that comes out. At first it was cool but now it’s starting to annoy me. The Gameplay: Overall the movements of the characters were just weird. I know that they always look janky and weird but ever since The Quarry came out, the animations were just so weird. Now onto the main point of my comment: I know you guys hear this constantly from fans and haters and you guys are probably sick of hearing it but y’all never pay attention. No matter what game it is you guys just don’t seem to focus, you constantly talk and crack jokes at the game or characters but never pay attention. Usually it’s quite funny but it gets to a point where it’s annoying because instead of taking a moment to focus or even account for not paying attention, y’all get mad at the game when all you had to do was lock in. This game required you to read, y’all didn’t do that (understandably so because there was a lot to read) and had y’all read you would’ve been able to get a good ending. Another thing that messed y’all up was the fact y’all were over analyzing stuff that was already explained. Especially the identity of the killer, how did y’all even think that one of the members in the crew was the killer when there was no evidence, literally none. The whole mess with the pig blood was stupid, it would’ve been a plausible theory but it was just so…unnecessary. The game was made to trick you guys and y’all fell for it. Extra: I do like the somebros channel and I do think it was nice to have some new faces playing with you guys but the tension was high. It’s like you guys were on edge with eachother the whole time. Of course you guys are always joking with one another but this series just felt off. It wasn’t immersive and by the later videos I was no longer as hooked as I was in the beginning. I think that there was too many people and too much going on. I would’ve preferred if you guys made a series where you play these games but drunk because you guys were drinking a lot and I think that impacted the play through. I hope next time if you guys do this, it’s a smaller group and at least a half sober mind so that it’s bearable to watch. However you guys should keep up the hard work and hopefully find a time where you’re able to post so that the channel won’t die out!
RU-vid sucks man, I can't wait until we move on to something that doesn't look for the smallest reason to take down videos yet alone a whole channel?? I can't even imagine the headache this is giving Berlin. Now some of these series we probably won't see again. RU-vid sucks.
According to Jojo Berlin said “damn that’s crazy I’ll worry about it in the am” he tweeted it out to let everyone know Berlin knew about his channel 😭 really starting to hate RU-vid now
bro imma just keep it real. Love them, but krysta and Jojo were not immersed at all from the jump. ( the game was the weakest of the four, im not giving an excuse). And Rio kinda threw the vibe off idk. I think with the next one, it should just be Berlin, Joe, PG, Rico, and Dontai, Maybe jojo cause he did his thing with the quarry, but he was not immersed this playthrough. Trying way too hard with the commentary.
I mess with dark anthology games heavy but the adding on of more people isn't really adding to the experience. im glad they are adding them all but it don't feel the same
Im ngl its always good when the dog lives at least, also i feel like yall would have liked it more if people weren’t killed earlier because that led the game to be shorter it is underwhelming depending on how you play the game, and since yall liked more action packed games and this is more of tension and clues than action so i can see why yall disliked it
I was going to critique y’all but then I watched the video all the way through. I felt like y’all weren’t immersed for the most of these vids and the time between uploads were crazy. Now that I finished this video and look back on the other ones it makes so much sense. I wouldn’t want to edit and upload this shit either bro.
While I resonate with the fact that this was not Supermassive’s best Dark Anthology game, as many other comments have said, a lot of you guys’ qualms with the game come from a lack of you guys paying full attention even from an early point in the game. There is some blame that can be placed on the game’s story and gameplay to capture your attention, but on the other hand there is also accountability to be held to try to stay focused for the sake of comprehension of the story. It’s fine to joke and talk amongst friends when enjoying something, but it also has to be remembered that there’s time to focus when it’s important not only so you guys can understand what’s going on, but so can we. There are plenty of us who will hold out to make sure that you guys are the sole content creators that we want to watch experience this story. We’ve seen you guys in the past sit quiet long enough to follow the story, all that was needed was that same energy for this game. All the way through. The bugs are always going to be annoying, and silly story writing is always going to make your eyes roll, but a lot of your other hate towards this story would be changed if more focus and consideration was given to the story and for those who were playing at the time.
I personally played the game with my boyfriend and I actually like this game like everyone saying you really just have to pay attention the only person that died in my game was Charlie and we got a good ending but there is so many endings that can lead to a plot twist I felt like they weren’t really paying attention as much bc it’s not really that hard to keep everyone alive if your actually immerse
@@applejones1697 story was only trash because of the choices that were made you really have to play the game yourself to understand what I’m talking about it’s not a bad game and that’s just my opinion
Exactly! I played this game from start to finish the day after it came out and I experienced none of these bugs and everything was rendered in and good. Sounds like they played it before it got patched. That's on them
@@B_Naitothat wasn’t most of their complaints though their issues were with the story and how it made no sense to them. if only they actually immersed. sure the bugs were annoying but it didn’t make the game absolute ass.
@@clover-46 I never said that their complaints about the story was valid or not. I simply responded to the comment "Sounds like they played it before it got patched. That's on them". That's a shitty way to shift the blame on the consumers when it's the game studio's job to make sure the game is released at its best state. You're talking about something completely different
