Angus Young's sister thought he looked like a schoolboy playing guitar on stage. So, being a seamstress, she sewed the schoolboy uniform, and it's been his signature look ever since. The textile industry informed AC/DC's formation. Rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young (Angus' brother), was a sewing machine repairman in a textile factory, and he noticed the AC/DC label on the sewing machines and thought it would be a good band name, as it conveyed the sense of energy that the band exudes.

Pretty sure Angus was early on actually attending band rehearsals after school, in his actual school uniform. The band was officially formed in 1973 and Angus was born in 1955, so he was 18.

These guys are in their 50s and 60s at the time of this concert. The energy they put out from beginning to end. The crowd size is near 80,000!!!! AC/DC has done this all over the world. This show and the one in Munich Germany are my two favorite AC/DC live concerts. They can be found on RU-vid if you want to take a real dive into AC/DC. It is worth the few hours to get involved. Thanks for sharing!

AC/DC filmed "Live at River Plate" in 2009 for DVD and CD in Argentina... but they were not the only band to film and release live concerts in Argentina... Megadeth filmed their 2005 DVD "That one night: Live in Buenos Aires"... Dream Theater filmed "Live at Luna Park" in 2012. Nightwish also filmed "Decades: live in Buenos Aires" in Argentina.

Angus plays a Gibson SG, primarily because it's one of the smallest and lightest guitars that still had a heavy sound (the Les Paul, which the SG was intended to replace, was a good bit heavier). Angus is a tiny guy, and as he's said himself, he needed something he could carry and play all night, and when he started out, there just weren't many options that fit his needs, and the SG was the best of them. And while the guitar industry grew and developed a ton in the 80s and 90s and there are plenty of other options now, the SG is so closely associated with Angus that no one can imagine him playing anything else. Angus and SGs are forever linked.

If you think this crowd is large, it is but a small fraction the size of Metallica in Moscow ...1.6 MILLION people! Probably at least 10 times this size. I've never heard of any concert even close to that and there is footage. They had to use the military with helicopters for crowd control.

I recently discovered your channel I am a huge Pink Floyd fan , and I like the fact that you will listen to an entire side of music. No one does that any more. Here are a couple suggestions for you. Tarkus. By Emerson lake and Palmer. Suppers ready by Genesis. Close to the edge by YES. I don’t know what you know about Zappa. So here is one called the Ocean is the ultimate solution. I’m sure if you research you can find the people who are playing on it and since I realize how much you love guitar solos Zappa does one of his greatest on this piece. Here’s the thing, I am blind and my sister Is typing this for me She will relay comments back to me. Hope you have time to listen to some of these suggestions and enjoy them. If not on your channel at least on your own private time and let me know what you think of these. Ps. I have plenty more suggestions if you’re interested. Jim Smith

AC/DC were formed in 1973 in Australia by Scottish immigrant brothers Angus Young (lead guitar) and (the late) Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar)... they have not changed their sound much from their first records in the 70's w/ basic hard rock - guitar/ bass/ drums and vocals w/ no keyboards or beats... Some of their biggest hits include - 'You shook me all night long'... 'Back in black' ... 'Highway to hell' ... 'For those about to rock' ... 'Shot down in flames' ... 'Whole lotta Rosie'... 'Moneytalks'... 'Rock n roll train' ... 🔥🤘 Angus Young became the band's mascot as the 'schoolboy' because he was so short and looked the part - his sister Margaret suggested he wear a schoolboy uniform and stitched up his first suits... She also suggested the name 'AC/DC' for her brothers' band from the label of her sowing machine... Their older brother George Young (and former bandmate Harry Vanda) produced the early AC/DC records... AC/DC were a local rock band in Sydney in 1974 when they were introduced to another Scottish immigrant named Bon Scott, who had been singing since the late 60's... He first played drums for AC/DC (He was their driver before that!) ... But when their singer quit one night before a gig in '74, he offered to sing and Angus and Malcolm loved his raspy, bluesy vocals. Bon Scott recorded the first 2 AC/DC albums in 1975 in Australia - 'High voltage' and 'T.N.T.' ... Phil Rudd (drums) and Mark Evans (bass) joined AC/DC that year and the band was signed internationally in 1976 - they released an international version of a debut album 'High voltage' (compiled w/ songs from their first 2 Australian records) It wasn't until AC/DC's 4th album 'Let there be rock' in 1977 when the band finally got to tour N. America (Their 3rd album 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap' was not released in the US until 1981) w/ Cliff Williams (bass) joining ... 5th album 'Powerage' sold 250K copies in the US without any radio airplay. In 1979, AC/DC finally had a hit record - 'Highway to Hell' ... it sold gold in the US (half million copies) and the band was poised to make a big break in the 80's. However, tragedy struck AC/DC in early 1980... their singer Bon Scott was found dead in a friend's car in London after he had passed out from a night of heavy drinking... A devastated AC/DC were urged to carry on by Bon Scott's grieving parents in Australia. A quick search for a new singer led to UK native Brian Johnson, who grew up on 50's American rock n' roll like Bon Scott did... Brian Johnson had spent the 70's recording and touring w/ his band Geordie before they split up in 1976. His raspy, screeching vocals were heavily influenced by the iconic singer Little Richard. AC/DC dedicated their 1980 album 'Back in black' to the late Bon Scott... w/ Brian Johnson on vocals. The album became a phenomenal success, selling over 10 million copies in the US alone by 1981 (25 million in the US to date - top 5 best selling album of all time) Subsequent AC/DC albums ('For those about to rock - We salute you' in 1981... 'Flick of the switch' in 1983... 'Fly on the wall' in 1985) failed to sell as many copies... AC/DC played Rock in Rio festival in South America in 1985 and have been huge there ever since. A major comeback record for AC/DC came in 1990 when the single 'Thunderstruck' became a huge hit from the album "The Razor's Edge"... which sold 5x platinum in the US. AC/DC carried on releasing platinum albums like 'Ballbreaker' (1995)... 'Stiff upper lip' (2000) and 'Black ice' (2008) and were selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide. In 2013, AC/DC announced that founding member Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar/ songwriter) was retiring after he was diagnosed w/ dementia; Sadly, he passed away in 2017... He was replaced by their nephew Stevie Young (rhythm guitar) in 2014 for the album 'Rock or bust'. In 2016, singer Brian Johnson had to be replaced on tour because of his hearing issues... he returned in 2018 to record their 2020 album 'Power up'... Longtime bassist Cliff Williams announced that he was retiring in 2016 and played his last AC/DC show in 2023. Longtime drummer Phil Rudd, who had been fired once in 1983 (he rejoined AC/DC in 1995) was arrested in 2014 w/ serious charges in New Zealand. As a result of his convictions, he was replaced on tour in 2015/ '16 but played on their 'Power up' album. In 2024, AC/DC finally announced a European stadium tour w/ Matt Laug (drums) and Chris Chaney (bass)

AC/DC has been around for 50 years and they are currently back on tour. There have been a few line up changes over the years, but they always bring it. I saw them several times in the 80s. Always a great show. Back in black is by far my favorite album.

Ok, I'm officially old. When I was young adult this was the biggest rock group on the planet. Everyone and their grandmother knew AC/DC. Now there is a grown woman saying AC/DC is a new band for her. I guess this is how my parents generation felt when they said to me: "How is it possible you've never heard a song from the Beatles?"

AC/DC was my 1st concert back in ‘81. The thing I love the most is everyone loves AC/DC. In ‘90 I had a “lady of the night” on my left and lawyer in 3 piece suit on my right. AC/DC is the rare band to survive a change at singer. The original singer Bon Scott died by misadventure in 1980. If you react to his songs please do his version. Whole Lotta Rosie live in Paris 1979 shows how much energy they have.

With a voice like ELMO soaked in cigarette ash and whiskey, Brian Johnson from the band Geordie in NewCastle England, Joined ACDC in 1980, after the loss of their 2nd singer, BON SCOTT (born in Scotland like the two guitarists and bassist, they all moved to Australia as kids). They were led by Dave Evans in 1973, but never got out of the bars and clubs in Australia. Realizing that this was the 20 year anniversary of Thunderstruck, this guys are unstoppable. And this wasn't the big hit on the album (MONEY TALKS was their first #1 hit in 1990.)

I was a fan of the earlier AC/DC with Bon Scott and saw them on the Highway To Hell tour in November 1979 in Passau/Germany. They were a bit more varied in sound back then because Bon Scott wrote a lot of their songs. Bon Scott was also a much better singer than Brain Johnson. After Back In Black they are unfortunately just boring. Every song is like the other. @eddybulk1992 You shouldn't compare AC/DC with Pink Floyd. AC/DC is simple stomping rock and Pink Floyd is a unique total work of art

AC/DC is one of the most succesful rock bands of all time. Their album 'Back In Black' alone has sold over 50 million copies (second most sold album of all time just behind MJ's Thriller). That one album has sold more than 98% of artists have sold during their whole career.

Nice! I've been waiting for this show up. AC/DC is the quintessential rock band. They've been cranking out hits since the 70's, and they're still touring and dropping albums. They're not fancy. Just hard blues-based rock. They're album "Back in Black" is one of the best-selling albums of all time. You've likely heard a few AC/DC songs. They get used in a lot of movie soundtracks. They even performed the whole soundtrack for a movie called "Maximum Overdrive". I'm sure there are plenty of suggestions in the comments to check out the biggest of the big hits. And you should. But I'll suggest 2 songs that I haven't seen a lot of reactions to. Since the band has had 2 incredible vocalists, one from each. "If You Want Blood" and "Have A Drink On Me". By the way, if it's not your your list yet, you should check out Boston.

Brian Johnson is actually the third lead singer after Dave Evan’s (1973-74) and Bon Scott (1974-80). Bon Scott in an interview was once asked “Are you AC or DC?” He said “Neither Mate, I’m the lightning bolt in the middle”

Thunderstruck was one of the best songs to start off with when reacting to AC/DC for the first time. They basically are the band that got me into taking guitar seriously. The saying “never meet your heroes” is non-existent with this band because they’re are some of the most humble, modest down-to-earth bunch of blokes. Brian (the lead singer) is the type of guy you’d like to go out to a pub, have a few pints and recite stories.

One of my very first rock shows, at 16 as an exchange student in Australia in '76, outdoor show in Adelaide the year Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap released in Australia (released with a different track list in '81 in the USA). Came home telling friends "you won't believe these guys." Thunderstruck works to this day, loved the Season 5 'Road so Far' intro for Supernatural that used it (available somewhere on YT).
