THIS STORY:
Summary -
Carney Parsons and his wife, Minnie (Strange) Parsons and their three children were annihilated in 1906 by Jody Hamilton, who worked for Carney and lived with them. After the family was wiped out, they were thrown in the Piney River. Someone fishing found their bodies. Hamilton went to church wearing the suit he had taken from Mr. Parsons, also his ring. An announcement was made at Church of the discovery of the slaying. Hamilton slinked away, riding a mule taken from the Parsons family. They followed him, caught him and hung him….until he was “DEAD-DEAD-DEAD”.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Wow those poor children watching their parents be killed ! It’s just all sad . You know, I think a lot about people that have gone before me. So many, their lives meant something. I often walk in cemeteries. I really like the tombstones that have their photos on them. I look at them and I think they were alive once ….. and I wonder what their lives were like. Their lives had significance …. Now they are forgotten . I visit my ancestors graves a lot . I think about their lives too . Thank you for just allowing us to remember them .

Sadly the kind of respect you have for the ones who were here before us is uncommon these days. Especially among the younger people. I too love to walk in old cemeteries near and around where I live now and where I was raised as a child. So much history lays there. They say those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it. I only hope that those who were murdered like the family in this video were able to maybe stop someone else from loosing their temper and killing some one else's family.

It's been a long time since I visited a graveyard, but I plan on doing more as my health allows it. I do a lot of genealogy research for my family and I'd like to go see the graves of those that I read about. Yes, it's so strange to think about those who have passed before. They're just like you and me. They lived their lives, loved and faced death. Every one of them have stories and I hope to meet many of them in heaven one day. The respect I feel for them now -- I'll carry that in my heart and it helps me to remember that we're not promised tomorrow. Live each day like it's your last.

Thank you for taking us along. Much appreciated and so sad. When I was a teenager of 16, I took a job watching 7 children aged 13 years to 13 months. Their parents were estranged but one very late night the husband came over drunk, making threats to all of us. I was so scared!! I did not tell my parents because I was so attached to those children. They had an old camper that we played in and even slept in one night. The mother worked in a bar in Ross, OH and was a little shady. The husband left that night taking the camper. We all fell asleep but early the next morning were awakened by police at the door telling us that the father had put a pipe on the exhaust and had killed himself!! I felt so badly for those kids!!!. I called my parents and went home that same day. I am now 67 years old and think about that night still when that poor man was threatening and pleading to come home. I often wonder what happened to those sweet children. Thanks for letting me vent and God bless you sir.

That mule kick rattled his brain. Same here in UK, Fred West in 1959, aged 18,..he went flying forwards off his motorbike in a collision. He was not wearing a crash helmet. Further damage to his brain occurred a year later when he was sent flying down a flight of metal stairs and again banged his head. He was prone to violent fits of temper thereafter. He was responsible for the Cromwell Street murders.

That truly was a tragic story. Upon studying the brain, research has shown repeatedly that severe blows or even one severe blow to the head can cause injury to the brain which nine times out of 10 always results in a change of personality which unfortunately , results in lack of emotional regulation which results in rage. So tragic for everyone involved and those small children! Hard to imagine what people go through 😥

For others in can take a much longer time. And not all of us experience anger at all. Overall it’s hard to keep our emotions in check, but you can say that about a lot of people.

I remember this photo clear in my mind that I saw at my grandfather's farm house in the Ozarks in the 1960's. I was around 5 years old when we were looking through my grandfather's photos that he kept in a tin cookie box at his Ozark farm house. My grandfather's name was John Monroe Parsons. The image of the slain children and parents (apparently relatives of mine) made me so sad, that it burned an image in my mind. I searched briefly for information a couple years ago on Google about the murders and found nothing. Today, my father told me about this RU-vid video and I couldn't believe it. I never knew the entire story. I assumed the murderer was never brought to justice. I have never forgotten these faces. Thank you so much for the details of this story. I have always wondered what led up to the horrific murders. BTW, Parsons was misspelled on the tombstone.

Interesting to hear you tell the tale... Minnie was first cousin to my grandfather, Jesse E Strange, which makes Minnie my first cousin 1x removed. In our family it's told a bit differently, with Carney selling the crop to Joda, but that Joda wanted the wagon. When Hamilton attacked them they were on their way back home to Miller County, Missouri. It was also said that Hamilton carried not just a scar on his forehead, but that the kick of the mule had left his scull slightly depressed. Many factors determine the character and actions of a person, but everyone always felt that Hamilton was changed by the head injury.
