Terrified of being Buried Alive - Looking Up Thru His Window... 

Not all religions allow for embalming.

That has always been my fear to be buried alive.I’m so claustrophobic Nowadays most people are embalmed but if you die in a car accident where your face is so messed up you can’t have an open casket I’m sure they don’t always embalm people. I told my son I don’t care how I die make sure I’m embalmed!

They ask if you want them embalmed if to tell them no then they.dont I learned that from when my parents passed

@@medicgrrl123 I think it's more of a matter of local custom than religion. Finland is mosty protestant and embalming is not really done here. Open casket funerals are also not common, in every funeral I have been the casket has been closed.

I agree, we lost our daughter at 21, killed, we felt the same when we first saw her at the morgue.

I did the same with my mom, I was lucky to spend a good hour with my mom immediately after she was found and she looked so beautiful and had passed away with a peaceful smile on her face and it was comforting to know that she didn’t suffer and was really chilled out. We had the option of seeing her before her funeral and it was a shock to say the least, she just didn’t look like our mom, we had to literally look at an angle near her head to see her, but me and my sister changed her hair as I had asked them to curl her hair and paint her nails in her favourite nail polish colour. We also took a pair of high heel red “dolly” shoes as my mom was a real shoe addict when she was younger and was gutted when she had to stop wearing them. So we made sure she went looking her best and we put her favourite tea cup and a tea bag and put photos and messages in her coffin. Her skin was still so soft even in death so I gave her a kiss before we left. It was a massive shock but we were so glad we both went to say a private goodbye to my mom. She was cremated which was a shame because of the messages etc but we knew that she was beautiful and all done up and at least in our eyes she would look amazing even up in heaven, and we wanted her to look her best. We put her beautiful suit on that she wore for my wedding 2 years prior and her neighbour had crocheted a beautiful shawl which was placed over here. Then we had her favourite football club shirt over her coffin and we went past all of her favourite places including her favourite shop where she regularly went shopping and met friends for dinner. People shopping that day were very shocked and I know our mom would have killed us for doing that but we knew she would be laughing at us. We also knew that some of her friends would be there. The mad thing was that on the day a man had to step in on his day off as someone was ill, his name was Troy and my moms main song was from the film “Troy” and he was originally from Chelsea which was my moms favourite football club. He came over to us after her funeral and asked if we believed in fate and we said yes and he said that it had never happened to him before in all his years of working but he believed that mom had made sure that he was there that day. He was honestly so spooked by it, and I said “well that was our mom for you, and we always said that when she passed she was to let us know if she was watching over us and with us” and boy she did and that gave us a lot of comfort at the end of the day and the man just couldn’t get over it, bless him but yes I am glad I went to see my mom and luckily I remember her when she passed and I’ve blocked the image of my mom in the coffin due to the shock, but I am so glad me and my sister had those last moments with her. It made it so much easier for us and helped us heal. That was just over 3 years ago now x

@@lisagreenway8410I’m so sorry about your mom. I really enjoyed reading her story. I’ve told my kids when my time comes to put pictures of me on the casket and don’t have it open. People lie to make the family feel good when they say how good they look. Plus I don’t want all that done to my face. My grandma was one of the first to get breast implants when they came out with silicone. She was in her early 20’s. She never had to wear a bra after that. And that’s what she wanted. She would have been so proud because they stood up perfectly & perky in her casket. 😂 When my mother in law passed 2 years ago from a 5 year battle with colon cancer that spread my kids put some of her fav things in her casket. They put a tube of chapstick in each hand because she was obsessed with it. We found chapstick all over the house and her vehicle. My kids said when it comes my time they are going to start the funeral but have them roll me in 10 minutes late because I’m always late! I was even as a kid. My whole life I’ve been told I’d be late for my own funeral. I told them if they didn’t do it I would haunt them! 😂 I also love to make people laugh. I told them I’d rather people laugh at my funeral rather than cry.

I am sure it is tight for you cause you seen him at birth and in death. Sorry you had to do the latter but it is what moms need to know love for your child.

Yes, I know what you mean. My Mother died at 77 yrs old and the funeral home put way too much color on her cheeks. We should have had it corrected.

Also, remove the much of the moss from the face so you can see it. It sounds morbid but he wanted his face to be seen and having it almost impossible to see defeats the whole draw of this weird grave.

If it were my city, they'd be blowing the available funds on housing and feeding migrants.

There is a very old cemetery across from where I work that has a plaque dating it 1784-1885 that has those type of thin ornate stones like that. A Lutheran church is taking care of it and a few American flags are placed. I haven't researched what type of war they would have been in during those dates. Thanks for the info.

@@ericjohnson8001 Yes. It was customary for families many years ago (before TV) to pack a picnic lunch, go to the cemetery and clean family stones, plant flowers. And, kids would climb or pull on them. Many times the stones would fall on them. One woman from the Norway said they now ALL have to be bolted to the ground in a special way so they won’t tip over.

Now they want low stones because it’s easier to mow around them

Just like house building. Because of the constant movement of earth, we augur a depth suitable to hold the foundation in place. We do not just place a house or a headstone to the surface of the earth.

I think they are peaceful too…I took my daughter to a historical cemetery and it was one of the best memories that we have together. It was beautiful there… the tombstones are like works of art. There are fountains, flower gardens, beautiful trees, sculptures and it’s outdoors so the cemetery was an excellent outing.

So that's the average cost of a cremation with an urn included? I guess that's still kinda cheap vs the usual cost of a full funeral service. Around here in Oklahoma in my towns cremation might go for around $600 give or take 🤷. I know I'm doing cremation for myself and a memorial service if my family wants to do that.

I know how to get free, Dont buy anything when my time up. they going bury me in piece of cardboard or something or let family claim my cropse.

My brother in law is the mortician who took care of our daughter's final wishes. While we were always told she would never live to see 40 due to the type 1 diabetes & family history of early death with it (I kept my promise I made her mother on her death bed & adopted her daughter who was 10 at the time. Her bio mother was 40 & 2 years before my daughter died she lost her bio brother to the thing in his early 40's. My daughter was 31. All went within a year of losing their leg. Their cardiovascular systems were that if people in their 70's & 80's ) Bless my brother in law though, my daughter was so terrified of being cremated alive that he promised to sit with her for 12 hours before the procedure. And he kept that promise.

My grandmother died two weeks shy of her 100th birthday. She had her evening bowl of ice cream, laid down, and was gone. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, was going to keep her from enjoying her ice cream. Even the Angel of Death had better sense than to interrupt her!

Yes, she lost her baby girl rather recently. She just had her second baby, so she brings her family out to her dollhouse to mourn her. I think she now has pictures of her baby up on the ceiling

You can see the head and neck is green with moss covering it in the one shot he was able to get. But I bet if there was a way to clean off the condensation it would have been really interesting to see.

Matthew - the nice day and heat is what causes the condensation on the inside of the glass. Better to go on a more gloomy day

I came across a similar set of stones. Six of the same style all in a row, two larger than the others. Parents & 4 children who all died within a week of each other from typhoid. I will never forget that sight. Tragic.

My wife died in 2014 in the hospital. I was there with her every day. Long story "simple operation". She was on a respirator, etc. The last Dr was honest, i.appreciated that. He said she had 1 chance, even if it worked she could still die. I talked to her mother & family. Her mother said, she's not there, that's just a machine etc. So I said wait till after midnight, as it was Mothers Day, didn't want her going on Mothers day. Shortly after midnight, me her sister & youngest daughter were there, they turned off the machine, she was gone in a less than 2 minutes by my reckoning. I know this, I told my family & every one else. Do not expect me to "pull the plug" for any one, ever again. Nothing romantic, nothing great, nothing nice at all. I know she was extremely ill fought 7 yrs, was in excruciating pain, etc. But I will never take that responsibility again. It still bothers me. So much so, I haven't even tried to have another relationship, in 7 yrs. I know my wife is no longer in pain, no more constant visits to the several specialist, etc. So there's that.

@@bluesingmusic3443 ....Its painful to lose a loved one, we never really understand death until we know of it first hand with someone we cannot replace. We see ourselves as immortal when we are young, but until we realize we are not its a hard pill to swallow.

@@gloriahanes5338 very true. I've lost 2 younger sisters, & my little brother (not so little 6'5" around 250. 2" taller than me), & my Mom. But it was different with my wife. At least I've got my grandkids 13, 12, 7. They're all wonderful, but the youngest, she's something else. She's having me teach her guitar, & how to do maintenance on them, as well as repair. There's a German luthier on You Tube, a lady, who she loves to watch build, as well as an older man who builds & repairs. Of course Roblox is still the King!!!

@@Cjmboo I know it makes more sense. I try not to think about it. But sometimes my ptsd and various other mental health issues tell me to think differently. After being attacked I realised my life could end just like that and it freaked me out ever since. I'm sure eventually the fear will pass I just have to try and forget about it! Sounds sad but my fear got so bad at one stage I wished I would get dementia. Having family with dementia it wasn't something I would just come out with. But it would have meant that I wouldn't have that fear as watching my nan slowly fade away iv learnt she is completely oblivious to anything! I know its stupid. I'm on a waiting list for more therapy. Hopefully it helps somehow!

May I recommend, "Ask a mortician" on RU-vid. Her videos are very helpful in answering death related questions in a matter of fact and non-judgemental manner. Also, she discusses various burial options and the necessary information to ensure your wishes are heard. Death, like taxes, is unavoidable.... But you can have some control over the how. Take care and be safe 😷

This happened to my great uncle he died 6mo to the day from his wife of 50 years the doctor said his heart just stopped cold as if a switch had been flipped.

My great grandparents died a few days apart. Story was broken heart, as well. They were both young and left a bunch of young kids as orphans.
