Important information! In the video I talk about many of the features not working without Internet access, and how you need to be connected to a mobile hotspot if you are away from Wi-Fi. This is true that some features, like ask Envision, must have Internet access to work. However, Most of the other features have an off-line mode that allows you to use them while not connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot. Just wanted to clarify that and provide more information!
How were you able to get the audio from the glasses able to be heard in your demonstration? I have the Ray-Ban meta-smart glasses and wanted to try to do this as well. I am also thinking about getting these so I can also do a demonstration. Thank you.
I just love the Envision glasses! One of these days I want to get me a pair! And I have to say these new features and updates are incredible! And Vision also has been updating there services to be able to use Without an Internet connection. I read that, you can now scan text without having to be on the Internet or connected to our network. They say that they will continue to add more features to be able to run without or not connection. Thanks, Sam!
It's amazing what kind of assistive technology is available. Somethng to consider if I lose much more vision. For now, magnification works for most things, and I take pictures things and zoom in to see details. Thank you for the great demo!
@@parklodi5202 The devices I use help avoid eyestrain for me. You may need different types of assistive technology than I do, given your eye condition. If Envision works for you, keep on using it.
Very cool! I've been thinking about maybe getting a pair of Envision glasses at some point. I'm between that and the esight... the technology now is simply amazing! We have come a long way. Thanks for the great video! -The Blind Traveller
Wow these are starting to get really good. Stupid question, is the voice output that loud or do you just have your mike near it? I mean how much can other people hear? Also the find people feature, does it help you find friends etc?
They are pretty loud, but I’m also using a portable speaker in the video so that you’ll be able to hear it over the city noises. The volume is adjustable and it also has Bluetooth if you want to use Bluetooth headphones.
This is soo cool! I have family with serious vision issues, thisbwould help so much! I am amazed! I hope meta ray ban glasses get some of these features too
Battery life is a couple hours of continuous use, pretty common with these types of devices. The price varies depending on the feature set you go for. It's anywhere from $2000 to $3500
These would be perfect for a vision impaired student we have, big issue for us would be battery life, how long would this device last on a single charge with normal use and is it possible to replace the battery on the fly or use an external battery supply?
Hey Sam, awesome video! Here's an important question to me. Can you use these online features if you connect the glasses to your phone using bluetooth? I know, for me, that using my phone, (as a mobile hot-spot), costs extra money. Thanks for any assistance!
Anyone know of a medicare type of insurance that pays for assistive technology for legally blind? Maybe classifying assistive technology as a prosthetic?
Informative demo. Would love to buy but a bit too expensive for me right now. Would you be able to do a demonstration of the meta rayban Smart glasses? Specifically the multimodal AI features
Any way to hear the voice and no one else can,? Can you use earbuds? Doesn’t seem like something you could use in a classroom situation without disturbing everyone.
Hey Marek, this is Ferkan from Envision. Just wanted to say that the Envision Glasses recognise more than 60 languages and the menu is supported up to 37 languages. Hope that answers your question!
Great video Sam. After years of waiting I can afford a wearable low vision system like this or like the Orcam or Irisvision but I have not looked at any of them in years. I have rod-Cone Dystrophy so Im red/green color blind, 20-200 in my best eye. I want a system that would improve or replace my bioptics to see far and magnifiers for close. I dont want a system that requires a internet connection because of where I live in Idaho the service is very unreliable or there is none at all. I will begin catching up on your great reviews and search for one that I can try out in person or at home first since my eyes dont focus anymore because of the Lenz extraction surgery.
The xreal r2 has what i need but it is missing a camera with zooming ... this one is not bad but will help more the short-sighted like myself if it had zooming and being able to use it with the left eye
Would Xiaomi Milja or Xiaomi ar discovery glasses work for you? My mother has stargaardt (She had it since very young) And i REALLY want to find something that could make her see! Any chance you could try those 😁
Hi @samNew427 yes, we agree with you and are in talks with the great team at Ayes who make OKO. Hopefully, we will have something exciting to share around that in 2024.
Looking for a device, maybe this one, that can read a playing card. Read the 4 suits and 2 through joker. Not magnify, but scan and then say the info on the playing card.
Hello Sam, This is totally not on topic of this video but I’m hoping that you read this and are able to help me. I am partially sided legally blind , I live in Canada. I was watching one of your videos about the no jab cane and I am wondering if you know where I can buy one. I am having a hard time finding it on online. Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thank you for producing these videos . Alison
Hi @mintonmiller great question. Seeing AI is also a great free app but it's only available on Android whereas the Envision App is available on both Apple and Android platforms and we really are full of great new features including an Accessible QR code reader
@@EnvisionAI so, I already use seeing AI on my iPhone. Just wondering if there’s any reason to even look at the other app or if basically does the same thing?
To make some corrections. AAs of now, Seeing AI is available on Android, too. I feel that Seeing AI does have some features that envision doesn't. By envision, I mean the app without the glassses. I think they're going to add more languages as well. Seeing AI gives a lot of detailed descriptions once you share a photo. @@mintonmiller
these glases will help me a lot, but there are home edition, read edition and professional… i need it for reading text outside or going for grocery shopping, so wich edition should i look for?
OK so it’s only available for the one eye. If it has a monitor attached to it to be able to see for people with low vision, I would prefer to have it universal so the eye that I can see out of I would still be able to use it properly the way it was intended to be used. otherwise there’s no point in having a monitor on the end of the glasses.
Based on the video it seemed like the Envision functions work independently of your actual eyes and vision, almost more like an Orcam. Nothing I saw looked like an actual vision magnification or enhancement.
Don’t feel bad, I can’t see that tiny little screen either! They are correct, you don’t need the screen in order to use the device 100%. The screen displays the menu while cycling through the options, and, if you can see it, let’s you Frame the shot when scanning text. However, you can do all of this without using the screen without any problems.
hello sam My name is Agathiyan from India. your editing is very super which is the software you use for editing ? please make the video for the how to edit videos for blind and visually impaired please Sam please
As this product is just a rebranded and patched version of Google Glass and Google finished support for that product on September 15, 2023, I'm curious what this company will do to continue supporting this product. It's sad to see how we continue paying a premium price for an already-dated product in terms of hardware. Is like paying full price for a 2018 car in 2023. Would you do that?
There’s another company doing much better work. Seleste glasses. Does all the same things and more at a more affordable cost, not only that, but the camera is smack dab in the center so it actually makes sense and they actually look like regular glasses… You don’t look like a sideboard when wearing them.
@@J.D.Visionjust to tell you insurance doesn't actually pay for all types of prosthetics. It really depends on the location you are in and the prosthetic that you need. Leg prosthetics are more likely to be provided by insurance but less so our arm prosthetics typically because insurance assumes you can just live your life without an arm. I mean I thought that insurance was supposed to give people a helping hand but I guess I was wrong.
Thank you very much for your demonstration. I have a question I am from Canada and I am on disability, so how can I get these glasses? Thank you very much.
You would need to reach out to the company to find out where their product is available in Canada. The contact information is in the video description.
Just curious, have you ever used the envision pro traveling through airports to read signage? I’m looking for a device that will help me navigate through airports independently. Also, just curious, do you find the envision to be consistently reliable.
I haven’t used it in airport yet, but it is very reliable and if you can get a good scan of the sign, it will read it for you. If you simply need text to speech, and might want something a little less conspicuous, you should Look at the OrCam read as well.
@The Blind Life - Hello! I'm a 32 year old man born with bilateral coloboma of the optic nerve which has resulted in my vision being pretty significantly impacted, though I can ambulate on my own very well and can usually manage my typical activities of daily living with some assistive technology (mostly using Android personalization service to enlarge app text and icons as well as a "don't leave home without it" hand magnifier, lol). My question for you is do you know of any android app or similar item that can help me identify signs at the roadside while being a passenger in a car, like business names, road names or other landmark or "nearby places" information? If this kind of thing doesn't exist I think I'll be looking for someone to go into business with to design it; It could use a combination of a phone or removable/dash mountable camera lens (or an eyeglass frame mounted one like orcan but different), the Google Maps feature, GPS and other apps I'm sure in not aware of yet to come up with an audio or larg(er) print description of the neighborhood so, when someone like me is traveling as a passenger in a car or bus, we can be made aware of things we may have never known were there, like businesses on side streets or events or activities happening in an "off the main road" park. If this interests you please reply here and I'll send my phone number and email address. You (or anyone else resing this) can also just add me on Facebook if you want, I'm the only Elliot Polach but, just in case, I'm from Evansville, Indiana, originally from Paducah KY, the same state I think The Blind Guy is from :-) And I know this probably goes without saying but to anyone here using a screen reader or just reading this I'm sorry about all the spelling and punctuation errors; Can't really see well enough to correct it and have actually had better luck trying to type it anyway than using speech to text and having to go back to edit the comment later.
Wow, that was a long message! Lol! So, you could try Lazarillo it’s a navigation app available on android. There’s also Google lookout which can be used to read signs. Yes, I’m in Kentucky currently but I’m originally from North Carolina. Also, my wife is from Indianapolis so we are very familiar with that area as well.
That was a great video. Thanks! What type of microphone are you using to shoot your videos? Is it Bluetooth? I shoot most of my videos using my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I’m trying to find the best microphone (Bluetooth) that can be used for shooting videos. Have a happy Halloween from The BLT (Blindie Low-vision Traveler)
I imagine he does not close price, because it very much does depend on where in the world you live, but you would expect somewhere in the range of US$4000 for this device
I was mainly just talking about the updates in this video. The price is easily found with a simple Google search. Fully loaded price is around 3500. However, they also offer less features at a lower price.
@@theblindlife Why not make it easier, especially considering your audience's challenges, and since you're already at it? Price is always what people are wondering and one of the most common questions in these reviews. I appreciate the update. Thank you.
Does anyone know what places to L👀k for when searching for assistive technology for the blind? (Actual buildings) I want to personally try out some devices and see what works. I can not use magnifying glasses or look through mirror images reflecting a screen image (mirrors do not work). I need an actual digital screen 1" away from my eyes ( like holding the phone screen to your face, and using the digital camera to be able to see), preferably for the right eye. I'm in Orlando Florida.
OK, I'm on board with GPT speculating about the meaning of a traffic light, or the spread of vehicles in a lot, but the propaganda about why a bench might be there, or why pumpkins were placed by the sidewalk, or whether colors express fall festival feeling is undesirable. It's impractical, and just sounds like chatter. I thought it was Chat GPT, not Chatty Kathy. Also, why do the glasses have to be connected to a hotspot? Can't they access the internet through the phone's cellular connection, via their blue tooth tether to the phone? Using my hot spot is limited and becomes quite expensive very quickly.
For some reason they cannot access the mobile data through the app. However , check out my updated videos where I talk about most of the features have an offline mode which does not need Internet access.
@@theblindlife Cool. I sent that question to their support email, so I'll update you with their answer. A friend of mine and I are actively looking for ways to fund our purchase of these glasses because of your video.
@@briancooper2112 The only way you'll get this stuff if you can't afford it is through some government assistance scheme if you can justify you need it. I hate it so much that this tech is so overpriced, especially as I'm an electronics engineer and have a good idea what goes into making these things. They know governments and institutions will pay though. I've been very tempted to make assistive tech affordable as my best friend is visually impaired.
