The full video of the sighting of the Mangheni lionesses stalking and catching a buffalo The lion pride brought down a buffalo from a large herd close to a waterhole, the buffalo herd returned to the water to drink and tried to rescue their fallen comrade from the lions The buffalo had already taken it's last breath but that did not stop the herd from trying to revive it. Eventually the buffalo herd gave up and the lions returned to feed along with all 12 cubs of the pride. The Mangheni pride are the largest lion pride in the area.

About Rob The Ranger Wildlife Videos:
The purpose of the channel is to show what it is like to experience seeing wild animals on an African safari. Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day. Make sure to subscribe and enable ALL notifications!

I had to add a quick comment after watching the entire video. I have never seen buffalo behave as they did upon finding their fallen herd-mate. But when the guide said he hadn't seen it, it took on a more emotional reaction! It seemed almost as elephants mourn their read. So grateful for sharing it, Rob!

I've literally seen dozens of documentaries on lion predatation, and never have I witnessed that kind of extraordinary behavior from buffalo. It was, as you said, rather emotional.

The perfect description of this channel at 0:01 - "that's enough about me, let's look at some animals." Amazing videos of bush life - unencumbered by the superb storytellers' ego. His amazing footage allows us to be a part of his experience, reflecting back to us these events - as they unfolded for him. The very real drama in the moment along with the emotionally charged feelings that we as humans feel in these situations, when life in the bush can seem both cruel and benevolent at the same exact time needs no commentary. Other than sprinkling some color here and there to help the uninitiated viewers among us to understand certain behaviors as they unfold, these videos don't have, nor do they need any added musical drama/background.

very very well done momma lioness. She is the reason they kept this buffalo. As we all see, upon first noticing one of their mates is down, they all returned. And they somewhat returned by chance. It looked like a single buffalo was doing a small investigation, running off one of the lioness. And by chance sees the other two feeding. And then, incoming the entire herd very soon after. But it was obviously too late, directly because of this very tacatful lioness and her method of suffocation. It is not by chance she rules the biggest pride in the region. It is because of her and her sisters/cousins wit and smarts that she/they are so successful. Nature tends to make sense much more often than not.
@MissesKennedy
@MissesKennedy 5 лет назад
I agree. It was surely kind of heartbreaking to watch the herd licking the dead companion, trying to wake her up. But let's face it: Lionesses outsmarted them. In fact, the Buffaloes would be able to fight back lions much more successfully if they were more often using tactics like standing together in a row, asses covered behind and horns toward the lions (muskoxens do it ! ) instead of running away, litteraly trggering the lions hunting reflex. Watching these kind of films brought me to the conclusion that while there may be occasional more smart and courageous specimes, Buffaloes as a whole, are lacking that little bit of intellegence more it would take to make them a hard, if not impossible prey.

This is just incredible footage. For some reason the birds landing and chirping on the buffalos' backs made it seem more poetic and whimsical. I know birds do this all the time, but it was just the timing of it all.
@cjgameon264
@cjgameon264 2 года назад
Ok...... you're being "too" extra. There's no such thing as the "timing" of this. The birds are just there, picking fleas and ticks. That's all. So, STOP IT.
@peterprice6035
@peterprice6035 2 года назад
@@cjgameon264 Nah, I think I'll allow my comment to stand. I'm ascribing poetry to this, and anthropomorphising it, even though I clearly know it's a matter of complete coincidence and it's just part of the natural world. I already indicated as much. So just nah.
