Please raise a glass for my grandfather. He passed on Sunday from pancreatic cancer at age 70. A true mentor. Taught me how to drink hard liquor neat. He liked Tequila and Rum. I went with a Rum finished Balvenie 14. He left behind a legacy of happiness that is truly unrivaled. Thank you fellow MBs. His name was Antonio Herdocia. Her-doe-see-uh.

My brother also has Aspergers. He's 35 so the experiences are a bit different at this stage, but having grown up with him, and then later worked in mental health and disability services, I can tell you that while support isn't what it should be (you're probably aware), it's SO much better than it used to be. You know how to find me if you want to talk.

1) David Tennant was my favorite Doctor. 2) Tyrion Lannister would be the one fictional character I'd have a glass of whiskey with. No contest there. Keep up the great content, gentlemen!

Douglas Laing also does some fantastic single cask, cask strength bottlings labeled "Old Particular". There is a local shop in the SF Bay Area that offers some superb exclusive store bottlings that are usually better than any official bottlings from the distillery. Recently I had a Highland Park 20 Year Old and a Bowmore 20 Year Old that were to die for!

As if I needed anymore reasons to love y'all, here I find out y'all are Whovians as well ❤️ Peter Capaldi became my favorite for that very reason, Daniel. I love them all, but his Doctor really resonated with me.

You should totally review Glen Garioch 12, it's an extremely characterful malt. An advanced drinker's whisky. And as someone else already pointed out, it's pronounced glen geer-ee.

Leave it to Psmith! I am so happy to hear Wodehouse mentioned here. 'Leave it to Psmith' was my first introduction to him, and to this day he remains my favorite comic author. No one else warms the cockles of my heart quite like Wodehouse.

I recently watched the `Rock Oyster Blended Malt Scotch, Douglas Laing` and his video. I picked up both the Rock Oyster and the Timorous Beastie. I am glad both bottles were only $35 each. I was not impressed at all with the Timorous Beastie after trying it a few times over a weeks time. If you are into young highlands and distilleries like Macallan and Glenlivet, it might be for you. But, was a hard pass for me and wish I would have skipped or possibly gone for the Epicurean. Disclaimer, I do really enjoy some highlands like Benromach, Glendronach, Aberlour, and Benriach to name a few. On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by the Rock Oyster. I left additional thoughts on the other video's page.

Thought I'd ask the community. I'm finally going to splurge on a fancier bottle. Now, currently it is between Hibiki Harmony and Longmorn 16. Now the Japanese whiskey scene is completely new to me and holds a certain level of novelty, which is intriguing. But I've heard so many good things about Longmorn.. Brace yourselves.. in my country the Hibiki, is 85e and 96 for the Longmorn. Thoughts?
@greg_d90s
@greg_d90s 5 лет назад
Wow, those prices are making me green with envy! What a tough decision to make though. The Longmorn 16 is rich, full bodied, and quite complex. It's comparable to the Glenlivet 18 or even the 21. The Hibiki Harmony is lighter and friendlier (as Rex would say), with more orange/citrus and cinnamon/black pepper flavours. It's an easy sipper. I would say go with the Hibiki Harmony just because its so hard to find for a reasonable price. They are both great whiskies though, enjoy whichever one you pick!
@biffii5568
@biffii5568 5 лет назад
@@greg_d90s Yeah, the Longmorn is not the old heavily revered one. Which makes me lean towards Hibiki.. But thanks anyway. W8 ur saying it's cheaper than for you? What country are you from?
@greg_d90s
@greg_d90s 5 лет назад
@@biffii5568 Ah I see. The new Longmorn 16 is still great but I would definitely take the Hibiki Harmony over it. The Hibiki is just one of those blended whiskeys that you have to buy when you see it plus it has splendid flavour. I live in Canada, specifically Ontario. Prices and availability are pretty mediocre here. Everything is sold through one store called the LCBO, which is provincial regulated and basically a government endorsed monopoly. The only way to get better prices or more selection is to go to the States or cross provincial borders (LCBO only operates in Ontario), both of which involve many hours of travel. Here are some current prices to give you an idea of things for us: Dalmore 12 - $100.00 CAD Lagavulin 16 - $130.00 CAD Aberlour 12 - $69.95 CAD Talisker 10 - $110.95 CAD Ardbeg 10 - $100.10 CAD Oban 14 - $115.99 CAD Glenlivet 18 - $149.95 CAD Monkey Shoulder - $69.95 CAD You get the idea :(
@biffii5568
@biffii5568 5 лет назад
@@greg_d90s Very similar prices! Finland, has the same deal in regards to alkohol distribution. 1 Monopoly and it's expensive, however, decent assortment if you're in big cities.

Hello Rex and Daniel, I’ve been watching your show for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. There is no better show with both knowledge and expertise as well as humor anywhere else on the internet. I have a quick question what is your opinion on investing in rare whisk[e]ys or 001 barrel releases? I have a 001 bottle of Stranahan’s Sherry Cask and don’t know if I should save it or enjoy it’s sweet sweet nectar.

I don't know which fictional character to choose, there are too many good choices. I'll say it's a tie between Han Solo just before the beginning of Star Wars Episode IV, and Hunter from The Dear Hunter's main albums, probably during Act 3.

There's several other possible distilleries in the Lowlands including Annandale, Bladnoch, Daftmill and The Glasgow Distillery.
@WhiskeyVault
@WhiskeyVault 5 лет назад
yeah, talking too quickly means I skip over what I meant to say. The larger production in my head with distilleries that share whisky for blending are almost entirely coming from Glenkinchie and Auchentoshan. Bladnoch is contributing some as well, but Annandale is mostly focused on building up stocks. Daftmill is a baby, and so is "Glasgow Distillery". You are 100% correct thought. Lowland distilleries are growing every year! Great news IMO.

There are more than two distilleries in the Lowlands... and considering The Epicurean is a blend, it's possible they're using a bit of ghost distillery products See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowland_single_malts for a list of Lowland distilleries

Wonder if they realize they both picked Doctors that represent their inner selves. I could go into detail but let’s just call it (Cantankerous) Wisdom vs. (Melancholy) Shenanigans. [Squeak], that was hard to boil down...I mean, for [Squeak] sake, Capaldi’s Doctor plays guitar. Also, weirdly enough, Tennant calls Rose a Timorous Beastie in the episode Tooth and Claw.
