When Robert went to his lady friend "for permission", he never actually asked for it, he just wanted to explain his reasoning, and hopefully get her blessing, which she gave, followed by, "Don't forget to say goodbye." I love how they did that process.

@jamesdemarco7161
@jamesdemarco7161 11 месяцев назад
The keys to the movie are the three books Robert reads. When he is sitting with the woman on the porch, to ask permission, he said he did it because he could. She told him it's who he is, and that he should be that person... "the old man has to be the old man, the fish has to be the fish. You have to be who you are in this world". What he is, is "a knight in shining armor, in a world where they no longer exist". At the end of the movie he is anonymously offering to help people in need, and he is reading The Invisible Man. Also, two little side notes; In the first killing sequence, he opens and closes the door multiple times to mask the sound of him locking the door, it maintains his element of surprise. When the music comes on the PA system at the Homemart, Robert is letting the workers know he is here. At the beginning of the movie, he said he used to be a Pip... the song playing on the PA was by Gladys Knight and the Pips.
@AndyMatts44
@AndyMatts44 11 месяцев назад
On your first side note - he open and closes the door multiple times because he's obsessive-compulsive/OCD. That's why he arranges his napkins, moves his silverware to the side, turn the spoon upside down in the diner - it's part of his ritual. It's why he was re-arranging the skulls on the desk. Plus you could still clearly hear when he locked the door, and that made absolutely no difference on them trying to kill him or not.
@jamesdemarco7161
@jamesdemarco7161 11 месяцев назад
@@AndyMatts44 Actually not. He didn't open and close the door repeatedly at the diner, at work, his home, or at Ralph's mom's restaurant. If he were OCD like that, he would have done it at all of those places. He is very meticulous, but that does not mean OCD. If he would have just walked to the door and locked it, everyone in the room would have been aware that he was going to do something. The way he did it, they would have had to pay close attention from the start, and realize there was one extra click.

Glad you enjoyed this movie and thank you for reacting to it. I am quite impressed with the amount of languages you seem to understand, being from The Netherlands myself I can only manage Dutch and English. When you mentioned that they do not have subtitles for some of the foreign languages that are spoken in the movie I totally agree that it is a shame that they are missing and I have seen that happen more and more often over the years. The thing that is weird to me is that I have DVD's of older movies that have subtitles for different languages on them and are complete, but when I have tried to watch the same movies on a streaming service they are not included. Anyway, thanks again and hope you keep enjoying making content for your channel!

Kami Denzel Washington as Robert McCall is retired covert operative from CIA works as a clerk for Home Depot, calm job different from his past. But girl (Chloe Moretz) hurt by her Russian handler prompted McCall to get with Russian Mob. This movie is loosely based on America's CBS' The Equalizer with Edward Woodward as Robert McCall. Recently, CBS rebooted the series with Rapper/Actress, Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall.

I'm not surprised, and while you are quite close you are not really correct. I am a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Equalizer was the first blueray i bought, and yet i did not notice that the bad guy in this movie played Celeborn in the Lord of the Rings movies. He has no appearance in the Hobbit trilogy to my knowledge (and according to imdb) and his appearances in the first and last LOTR movies are rather short. So further reasons i am not surprised to not have noticed it and her not noticing it. Celeborn is not Legolas father and is not "the main Elf" in either of the movies. The elven king in the Hobbit trilogy (Thranduil, played be Lee Pace) is Legolas father. Still impressive that you noticed bad guy here being in the LOTR film world.

Just an FYI, I'm not sure what the line is for standards is, that you have to walk, but I've seen other reaction videos where they showed pretty much all of that "dance." I think no subtitles for the Spanish because we've already seen he knows Russian, so that was just to demonstrate his knowledge of another language, comfortably. It was clearly an introduction and friendly greeting, so I don't think the specific words were that important. And how perfect was them NOT showing what he did to the robber with the sledgehammer? As you said, your mind already went there, they didn't need to. That's some good filmmaking.

Robert is one highly trained Marines sergeant special forces team leader operative that got out of the CIA covert assassination squad with a faked death. Nobody ever ever want's to cross Robert and expect to live. He lives his life to precision timing, and undertakes his killings to precision timing too. But he is very moral, with high expectations of his victims, giving them all an opportunity to take the right path rather than die. That sense of giving a chance is what I like about Robert. In many cases, the failings of individuals is not final. It can be put to rights with the right persuasion.
