IMPORTANT NOTE: We're sure some of you have noticed that you didn't mention the price of the Equator in our review. That's because JMC-Ford has yet to reveal the price. We will be sure to update you here when we learn more! Thanks for watching!
It's probably going to be "slightly" less expensive than a new Toyota Highlander in MSRP, and "HUGELY" less expensive than that in in reality because everyone's still going to buy an "out-of-stock" Highlander.
@@Ford-Explorer606 No I Don't You Intellectual Ridiculous Guy. I Had A 2003 Mercury Mountaineer & 2005 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer. So Yeah I Hate Ford. The Chinese Are Known For Copying & Doing Stuff Like That Period!!
Different market.... the Suzuki Equator was probably never sold in China, so there'll be no issue in a different manufacturer using the Equator name in that market
Every company now a days has moved on to Aero Dynamic Big Grill - Slim Lights based designer concepts...!! I think it does'nt seem like the way you have said. Even BMW, MG, Toyota SUVs, Tata SUVs & Honda SUVs have the similar design languages other than Lincoln, Dodge, Hyundai, Genesis. :) Think about it friend. :) :)
@@mayankswank6020 the large grills on these cars have nothing to do with aerodynamics. This is a trend for Chinese markets. And you're right, everyone's doing the trend because good design is rare these days. Back in the 90s and early 2000s Ford did amazing work.. this new design is just generic.
All their products are dumb as a stump. China is coming in with very good quality soon and will wipe the floor of U.S garbage. China is coming just like high quality Japanese cars did with Lexus and the loser U.S MBA auto executives don’t have a clue as to what their about to get hit in their empty heads with.
I suspect China might be the final Deathblow for Detroit. The good news, China will buy USA car factories, employ many while taking over North America car sales.
I really like this new design language, maybe minus the front headlights, but the rear and the interior seems really minimalist and sleek, something I appreciate in a car.
@@keaujibaha2594 I agree. The Ford Equator is an attractive vehicle, but if it had Hyundai badging, I wouldn’t even second guess it. It’ll be interesting to see Ford’s design language on future products here in the United States. In my mind, I feel that I can’t think of specific design cues for their non-truck vehicles, excluding the iconic design of the 2 door Mustang.
I did not expect ethan was built like that... anyway nice review as always, would also be interesting to see a review a global car that's also sold in china
I think this design language will look better once applied to a more recognizable name plate. An suv with this car’s design aspects and the more recognizable shape of the explorer would look and fit in better with fords overall lineup.
Great looking car. Congratulations on the scoop and reveal. If sold in the US it would be a direct competitor with the Kia Sorento which has been pretty popular. Fantastic production value on this video as well. Really first class.
"Something about a Ford..." all I could focus on is his "shirt" 🤩💪🙊🙈 feel free to do more reviews in the tank top or even less🤷♂️🙈🤣 Great review as always 💪👍
@@Luke-PlanesTrainsDogsnCars Ford isn't even a Chinese brand yet he's reviewing it (abit one designed for the Chinese market and made in china)... Polestar is a "Chinese brand" with all their cars made in Chengdu. Look up who owns Volvo & Polestar. Take a look at their Chengdu Facility ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g5_lvu4D_DM.html
@@thearchitect5632 I fully realize Volvo and Polestar are owed by a Chinese conglomerate ..it's the more obscure models and brands that are of interest tho from outside China , and Wheelsboy is one of the very few to be showing this content..There are plenty of Polestar reviews online.
I like the design...both front and back. The interior looks handsome and well made. Maybe the design language will make it into the American Ford showrooms.
It is clear the Chinese have helped Ford to upgrade interior surfaces, plastics and knobs. Dash is very clean and up to date. Exterior looks great and now can compete with the Palisade and Telluride which would leave Ford in the dust.
As a Chinese, I can tell Ethan is very Chinese already. 7:06 he use the Chinese sign language to suggest six - folding the middle three fingers in a hand. Ethan,你真六!
Please don't even think of it. It will triple in price if it lands in Aus. Looks can be very deceiving. Regret is a good thing, but it always comes too late.
Seems all the manufacturers are copying the Pontiac Aztek with the separate lower headlight design. First the Jeep Cherokee redesign and now others like in the new Nissan Rogue, Misubishi Outlander this Equator and likely many more than I care to research. I find it interesting that a design pioneered by a dead company and placed in a universally hated vehicle is now becoming a standard across the industry. Who knew Pontiac was so ahead of its time?
It has a better looking exterior and interior than anything Ford currently produces in America and Europe. The screen and navigation technology available here are way ahead of Ford in Europe and America.
Chinese local brand can produce a similar quality SUV with 2/3 of cost. Ford has no future in Chinese market, especially they are recently in quality crisis which picked by China 315 consumer protection show.
Yeah, it is hugely relevant to me that it is in China. Keep it there. There is already a product in the US market. It is a Nissan Frontier based Suzuki brand pick up truck named Ecuator. It is a second generation Frontier with Suzuki Badges with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with a 5 gear transmission
The front facia of this Ford (IMHO) have similar design language w/ Wuling Almaz (Baojun RS-5 ?), All of them are great looking car !. Speaking of Wuling, can u do review on Wuling Victory when possible. Thank u before. :D
Wow, Sanya looks great! What a difference with when I visited in early 2000s. The car looks a lot like the Palisade, which is not a bad thing. How are Ford sales in China - are they a popular brand?
I don’t know the Blazer RS, but I have heard of the Atlas. In North America and some other countries like Russia, this is designed to replace the Touareg that we still get in Europe.
Typically, Ford is also moving to Monocoque chassis rather than Body on Frame. Any information on whether it's an AWD & more importantly will it see the day of light outside China
i HATE this new trend of putting the smaller running lights up top, and putting the actual headlights down in the bumper, it looks so stupid to me. kia & hyundai do it, nissan does it, mitsubishi does it, and now ford.
I know it's a design trend that lets the running lights look sleeker and meaner. I wonder if there's also a regulatory reason, such as reducing headlight height. I hate driving a sedan at night when there's SUVs on the road, but if they all had lower headlights, it would be a relief.
I hate that pop up screen instrument cluster and I don't know why this is becoming a trend, but it is. I like traditional gages . I can't even imagine if the screen goes out how much it will cost to get fixed. That and you're screwed if it does since it houses all the information from speed to climate function.
No pricing? Territory was released here in Brazil last year, and it's a failure due to the high prices and weak powertrain. It's a pretty car, but no one is willing to pay almost 35k usd to take a 1.5l 140 hp suv.
That is a handsome vehicle! They should bring that to America! I like that boxy -body styling better than the current explorer, which looks bulbous and bloated.
fun fact: it is designed after the new facelifted mahindra xuv500 because ford had collabrated with Mahindra, mahindra and ford also developed engines called mhawk (diesel) and mstallion (petrol)
Thats an attractive 2012 Highlander with the front of a 2018 Santa Fe. Derivative but attractive. I much prefer this mix of generic styling to the hideous new Explorer we're stuck with in the US. And to me, the tires look one aspect ratio too small. Any China specific reason for that? Edit: surfing with the fanny pack?
The aspect ratio appears to be a trend across the globe especially for European design. XU40 highlander is likely smaller in comparision. This equator appears to be large than XU50 and current XU70 highlander.
