Hype and Nostalgia are some powerful drugs. I was only really hyped about one game in my life- The Witcher 3. My PC broke before the release and it took an entire year before I got a new one, and I'm actually glad that it happened. My old PC would barely be able to run it while the new one runs it on Ultra at solid 60 FPS in FHD. Also most of the flaws the game had at launch were fixed- the bugs, inventory management, etc. I fell in LOVE with that game. I was playing it 3-4 hours a day, every day of the week, for two entire months. I was a full-on Witcher JUNKIE. And despite everything, I don't consider that time to be wasted.

i wasn’t that hyped with cyberpunk so i didn’t overhype but i was excited, it’s a great game with some issues and i bet people will scream about it because the sheer amount of overhype

it usually takes a month or 2 after a huge game release for reasonable reviews and criticisms to come in for it. The first month or so is always full of people going batshit crazy and saying exaggerated things about the game, whether its good or bad

I'm dissapointed over the fact that the new game didn't bring my parents back from the dead so they could say they love me one last time. 5/10 Over hyped The second coming of christ wasn't as good as the first one.

I recall back in the 90's people were raving about a batman movie of some sort than everyone said it was aweful. I don't recall which one it was but I recall enjoying the movie for what it was sense I had no hype to give me unrealistic ideals of what the movie was. Not sure about before than but sense than I only rarely get hyped for something because shit like the Reimagining of ReBoot can happen and ruin 20+ years of waiting for closure on a cliffhanger gets ruined.

I hope a game developer eventually experiments with the strategy of low expectations.

So I paused on the charts and discovered I never played a good chunk of these well hyped games or I played them at a much later time. I think I played and enjoyed like 10 total games in all the charts combined and I now realize why I'll still get hyped for things. I laser focus on what I like and because of that I haven't been burned a lot. I have been burned (Stickerstar...), but not nearly as much as I have been pleased with the games I was hyped for. Maybe I'm just really good at knowing what I would enjoy or I'm super lucky.

I feel like the whole world atm is hyped to Cyberpunk in a way im really not. Maybe it because of the delays, lack of showing non-scripted content during the latter part of the year, restriction for reviewers or that im just getting old. The old classical signs that something isnt really as it should be. So the hype just isnt much there

I was never hyped for cyberpunk 2077 because it didn't tell me the story or why I should be playing or if it was like Grand theft Auto or something else. The disappointment everyone had was what I was originally expecting out of the game because of all that.

Ahh...hype. Ya know, my good ol pop told me something in my life that REALLY stuck with me, "Son, do not have expectation, life, does not work that way." Really, as somewhat sad as that might sound, it's just true. Stop. Stop having expectations. You can be excited and happy for something, but the moment you apply some self sense of "expectation" to it, then yeah, it's probably going to fail. When I'm tempted by a hyped game I put them on my wishlist and wait... sim city left some deep scars

This is also why there's no real journalism and criticism from these websites. If they dared criticise the industry they'd be cut off from the drip feed of information that sustains their articles and frankly keeps their lights on. They're just marketing arms of the publishers

Generally I try to avoid reading or watching too much about overhyped games so that when I do end up buying them I end up enjoying them a lot more for what the game actually is rather than what they were expected to be. That has served me well since Spore. I occasionally get caught up in the hype around games, like I did this year for Crusader Kings 3, but that company was really transparent about what they were doing so it felt safer to do so for lack of a better word.

The fans: "THIS GAME WILL BE SO GOOD!! It'll solve world hunger, cause world peace, and solve my parents' marriage!!" The game: *exists on the shelf with other games*

I WAS watching Prozd taste 20+ types of lunchables, but this video takes higher priority.

Im excited for MELE, cause it has all DLC and games, along with a new coat of paint. Call me naive, I am, but I can't see this going wrong in any major way. The only way I see this going wrong is the graphics not being as amazing as they claim they will compared to the originals, or them screwing up with possible multiplayer features.

I'm happy tp say I've only fallen for the hype train twice, and have only REALLY got burned once. -Forza Horizon 1 (mildly disappointed but it was still a great driving game at the end of the day) -Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Got burned on this one. Even now, years later, I still have no idea what that film was about)
