The Etihad Stadium Roof Is Coming OFF | Man City Construction Update 

The roof is officially coming off the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium. How excited are you the new redevelopment at the Etihad?

Thanks for the update! Ripper, hope you had a good time! City are currently the second-most valuable club in the world breathing down the neck of Real Madrid. Plan is to make the whole campus a place to visit in it's own right throughout the year, daily. Please note I believe Paul McCartney is playing the Co-op Live Arena the same day as the Mcr derby. Officials could be stretched. SIsk the contractors are getting cracking on the hotel, a new floor was added last week. They say the bulk of the post-season will be on the concourses of the Family Stand making them more capacious. The West Wing last week had a brace attached to support the roof cables so the stanchion can be removed. Cost of Co-op Live Arena circa £360m. Cost of Family Stand and other works £300m. I understand the rear of the Family Stand only will go at this stage. Some of the raker rows are already in situ ready to accept pre-cast terracing. Yesterday in the Copa America Argentina played Canada with Argentina winning 2-0. No surprise that Julian Alvarez scored the first goal making it the day of the Spider! 🕷️

I've sat in all areas of the Etihad and never been disappointed with the view. The new extension is going to be the bees knees and the stadium will be the top one in the UK ... yes ... even better than Spurs!

- The stand will be completed summer 2025. The rest of the development will be completed late 2026. - They’re only removing the back section of the North Stand roof. The rest of the roof, covering the seats, will remain in place until next summer after the new roof is built over it. - The two support beams holding up the original roof / cable net are being removed. The original cables are being clamped to the two towers which have already been built. This is because the two support beams are in the way of the new terracing and sky bar.

Some really excellent (and brave) footage there Jay 👍 Fascinating to see how they are going about integrating the new larger metal infrastructure and starting to remove the existing roof... Any idea of what timescales they are working to, as I have seen very little info online ?

THE ROOF AIN'T COMING OFF at all so dont get too excited. Theres a couple of little sections that have been removed but the roof is staying on until the new one has been built over the top, pretty obvious really........... it's a click bait headline. Get your facts right next time
