Despite its decreased incidence since
the introduction of second-generation
antipsychotics, tardive dyskinesia
continues to be an important consideration when prescribing
psychoactive medication. In this talk, we will
discuss risk factors, high-risk medications, and treatment
options regarding this difficult condition.
About the presenter: Megan L Smith, MD is a current
fourth-year psychiatry resident with
the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Through her time at UW, she
has been part of the Public Health
and Rural Medicine track, which
she hopes to put into practice after
graduation. Next summer, she is looking
forward to returning to her home
state of California to serve the needs
of rural communities.
