Great review. One year in with 2C and no homekit and the battery life hasn't changed, it was never 6 mths though especially if you use high sensitivity which you need to. (Im recharging the busiest came every 2 mths). Not too bad. Eufy can miss some motion, which is its only disappointment. Not sure why. Also snooze doesn't seem to work, tested with its light and it always comes on, alerts and records anyway. Otherwise its a great product. Love the alerts and remote capabilities.
@@11Forty6 HomeKit is Apple proprietary Home automation software hub is how I would describe it. It’s a way for Apple users to connect all our home automation devices and control them in one place instead of having to use dozens of different apps. The service is also private and encrypted.
We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. ru-vid.comUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.
Appreciate you for sharing the video. I’m shopping for cameras and feel like the eufy system makes the most sense. I’m at the beginning stage for HomeKit. The new HomePod is making me consider ditching Alexa. Do you have any experience with the eufy doorbell and also what is the door lock/thermostat you prefer with HomeKit? Thanks!
Hey Josh, thanks for watching. I have not used the Eufy doorbell yet. I am tempted, but I am waiting until one of these video doorbells officially releases support for HomeKit Secure Video before I get one (hopefully Eufy will be the one). There are lots of good locks with different features, so it just depends on what your needs are. I like the vocolinc lock as a great budget-friendly lock with lots of features for the price. I also use the Friday Homes lock which is a good retrofit lock, similar to the August lock. Some others I would consider may be schlage or kwikset. For a homekit thermostat I prefer the Ecobee because of the ability to use room sensors. There are other, more affordable options if you don't care about the room sensors. But that was the feature I was most interested in.
Note: Initially the TV makers were using the horizontal numbers 720p, 1080i, 1080p. But someone decided to use the larger vertical line count when 4K TVs came out. In TV resolution 1080p is 1080 horizontal lines by 1920 (2K rounded) vertical lines. 4K (2160 x 3840) is twice 2K and 8K (4320 x 7680) is twice 4K. They'll have to do some fudging when they get to 16K as that will only have 15,360.
After watching the review, I have ordered and used the camera for about 2 months. Fully charged the camera and now it shows only 19%. Don't believe with the 365 days battery showing on the box.
Using it with HomeKit? As I mentioned, they say using it with HomeKit will drain the battery faster. Plus, if it's in a high traffic area, then that will drain it faster too. And other settings like "optimal battery life" or "optimal surveillance" will be a factor as well. I'm sure the claimed "365 days" is under ideal conditions (probably not using homekit, low traffic and "optimal battery life" chosen). Looks like I'm currently getting about 3 months with moderate traffic, using it with HomeKit Secure Video and Optimal Surveillance on.
Great breakdown on the cams, if Eufy can get me there wired doorbell that uses the mechanical door chime and HomeKit with HSV I will be all in with Eufy cameras through out my house. I am even considering weatherproofing the indoor cams and placing them outside since they are so cheap if I break it Ill just buy one more. I would love to have the Eufy door lock as well but need HomeKit.

Thanks for watching. I really like the EveCam and Circle View cameras for HomeKit secure video. However I haven’t tested all the HomeKit cameras available just yet.
@@brandievaleri2911 I have a question. Does EufyCam 2 Pro support people detection with night vision? if yes, only in homekit Secure video mode (apple hub doing processing) or also in the Anker app without using homekit secure video? Because I know that eufycam 2C don't support people detection with night vision ... TNX !
Hi just wondering if you could offer me some advice. I was looking at getting these instead of the normal (non pro) ones. But if you cant stream and record in 2k when using the home kit, is there any point in spending the extra money, should i just get the non pro cameras? Thanks in advance
The camera records footage to the Eufy HomeBase, and to iCloud if you are using it with HomeKit Secure Video. If you use the camera with HomeKit, all footage is downgraded to 1080p. Otherwise you can record in 2k to the Eufy Homebase.
Ok, so this is the first I’ve heard that it’s 1080p across the board, including in the Eufy App, when connecting to Homekit. Damn, that’s just downgraded the whole device… Not that I have anything else in Homekit right now, so I probably wouldn’t bother with it, despite the user-friendly nature of it…Might just stick with the Eufy App…
Shane, do you have anything on the Eufy S330 solar power camera. I was ready to buy until I saw the 802.11 n spec. Why wouldn’t they have at least 802.11ac and also 5 GHz. What a great system but old protocols, why do they do this.
I’m very disappointed after buying this because 1/ you cannot continuously steaming the video and 2/ it does not record 24/7 but only if there are motions Money wasted … very disappointed !
I have followed these steps to set up HomeKit.. but it asks me to add the homebase to HomeKit also & once I do, it just fails to do so.. anyone had issues like this before?
companies are trash man. limiting stream/record to 1080 for no reason. also arlo choosing to not support secure video. all the rest of cameras are trash
Thanks Shane! If the camera is near power can it be plugged in permanently so that you don’t have to keep taking it down to charge it? How long does it take to charge?
Hey Terry, good questions. I suppose you can plug it in permanently, as the camera does still seem to operate and record when plugged in. You do get a bright blue LED when charging but that should go OFF once it's fully charged. Charging time should be between 8-12 hours. In the app it says "it will take about 8 hours from empty to fully charged with a 5V/2A power source." The user guide says 12 hours.
@@ShaneCreates Is it still waterproof when charging. I can imagine that there is some protection over the connectors that you have to move aside to place connect the power plug? If it's not waterproof when connected, Than permanently connecting it outside sounds like a no go. Just wondering this as I'm interested in placing these cameras outside with the power permenantly connected
You can hardwire this to power. You just need to set the camera Power Mode to Solar. It takes about 8 hours to fully charge. You must fully charge the camera before putting it into Solar power mode.
Hey Shane, have you noticed any improvement on the motion detection of the EufyCam over the last 8 months? Looking to get some outdoor cameras for the new house. Love the fact that they are wireless. I think I would prefer the Logitech, but don’t really want to deal with trying to run wires.
Logitech is great if you can deal with the power source. It's nice not to have to worry about charging batteries. The Eufy recording is still not the best in homekit, but it does a good job in the Eufy app. As long as the camera is placed in a good location as recommended, it should do fine in the Eufy app.
The reason you got difference in performance for recordings. First, the camera was very high! Eufy recommend 2 meters at a push. The other reason is that the cams use a motion based sensor vs infrared on the Evecam and circle camera.
Yea that’s true. Although my camera wasn’t that high. 11 feet. They recommend 7-10 feet. It was just too far to capture motion from the front of the yard. Also true about motion based vs infrared sensors. Regardless, I don’t think most people care HOW the motion is detected...they just want to ensure everything is captured that should be. All in all they all did a pretty good job, with the exception of Eufy missing some action here and there. Seemed to have more issues recording in HomeKit. I just wanted to compare to other HSV cameras to make sure it wasn’t just a “HomeKit” issue, as we all know there can be problems on that end as well.
I made a whole video explaining HomeKit Secure Video when it was still a new thing. In a nutshell, it's secure recording that stores clips via your iCloud account. Plus HomeKit camera support gives you access to your cameras and any included motion sensors in the Home app with all your other smart home accessories for viewing live streams or creating automations.
I found a guy online who was able to connect these camera to a SOLAR panel.....made them act like a plugged in cam. I was planning on trying it....now I think I’ll just get the Eve cam and put it looking out the front window....since it can connect to my 5G router network.
@@cz8024 I know, I was just mentioning it in case you were still looking or needed confirmation of official support. I plan to do the same for my setup though with Wasserstein branded ones because they're cheaper.
Yes this👆🏼. WTH🤷🏻♀️? I’m trying to decide between a blink system and a system with a HomeKit. And there was no coverage on how long the charge last. I’m not trying to climb up and down my ladder every two weeks to charge 4 cameras.
Tough call. I think each has their pros and cons. Personally, if I can wire a camera, I will usually prefer that. Then you don't have to worry about recharging batteries. And the Circle View camera performs great and does just what it's supposed to do. But sometimes running a power cord is hard or even impossible, which is where the Eufy is awesome. As far as performance in HomeKit, I'd say the Circle View is is more reliable recording in HomeKit Secure Video. My Eufy Cams still don't record much of the action in HomeKit. However, they do perform great in the Eufy app and record much better there. And then you have the local storage options available with the Eufy Cam Base Station that you don't get with Circle View. So I think it's about deciding what features are most important to you, and decide from that. Hope this helps.
If you disable homekit you can't view the cameras in the Home app, utilize homekit secure video or use the camera's sensors with your other homekit devices/automations.
Hey Shane, I’m close to pulling the trigger on a set of these at Costco. Being one year later, have they fixed any of the quirks you mentioned in this video and is there any other HomeKit outdoor cam that you would recommend for a first time buyer? You are a valuable resource to this community.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. I am still using them and I can recommend them. The only other outdoor HomeKit camera that I use and can recommend is the Logitech Circle View cameras. But they are not wireless and require a power source. I hear good things about Arlo (also wireless) but they do not support homeKit Secure Video and they rely largely on an Arlo subscription, which is why I don't use them.
Hey Shane. Again a nice review! Love you HomeKit video’s. But what is you favorite HomeKit cam? The Logitech or te Eufy? Need to buy a new cam, en still don’t know what brand. Thanks, and keep up the good work. Greeting from the Netherlands.
Thanks Roy! Both are very good and each has its own benefits. The Circle View works exclusively with HSV (and does it well) and doesn’t require any hub or additional equipment. I love the simplicity. However the Eufy Cams 2s have local storage, an alarm, completely wireless, but require the base station. With that said, if you only need one outdoor camera, have an accessible power outlet, and only care about HSV, Logitech Circle View is a great choice. On the other hand, if you like the idea of local storage, prefer wireless, and maybe want more than one or two, I’d probably go with the Eufy Cams. I guess the point is, it really depends on your particular use case, setup, and what’s important to you.
Great video mate,But I have a question,I have the Eufy twin camera door bell that came with the home base if I were to purchase the cameras separately would they work from the home base that came with the door bell? Thanks Mate.
Can someone explain to me what is the point in adding the cameras to HomeKit when you can access your camera and customize their functions within the app already? Are you just sacrificing your quality so you have a backup uploaded via homekit and the homestation?
That is one reason but also to have all of your smart home stuff in the same place. It's much easier to use the home app to view a camera, then turn off the driveway light, for example, all in the home app rather than having to switch between apps. Also, you can use automations in HomeKit. When the camera detects motion, turn on the driveway light.
Good job exploring the camera features. I'd say a lot of the gripes seem to reside mostly on the Homekit integration not the cameras themselves. I hope Google and Amazon integration is better.
Bought myself the Eufy Pan & Tilt 2k camera for 79 euro. I was looking for an affordable securitycamera to keep an eye on my cats when I’m not home. And when found the eufy cam i didn’t hesitate a minute. And man am I happy with it, affordable, good quality, easy setup, so many options on this camera for half of the price of competitors. Also some minor downsides, like no pan/tilt in homekit, and no audio communication possible trough homekit, hopefully this is coming. Thanks for the review Shane! Now I’m looking for affordable Curtains, but didn’t find any good option for that :(. The Ikea curtains sound good but I don’t have normal windows so i need them to be longer in length and less long in width.
Hi, how do you add multiple devices to HoneBase 2 please. I had the battery doorbell 2k installed and when adding the Pro 2 the doorbell disappeared 😒 and all the saved history.SOS help 💙
Shane you bids are great and your a good dude. Just got this. When base station finished being setup can i disconnect the base station from the ethernet cord so i can relocate to more convenient place or it always has to be plugged into router?
I need another camera, and have Arlo currently which moving away from so might get a cheap eufy kit of amazon. Main reason - Homekitsecure video. Have the issues improved in recent months? I don't want to pay EVE pricing. WHat would you do?
Ok @Shane love all your videos so I’m going to ask you. I have the Eufy 2c pro and linked with HomeKit. The issue is I have no audio on the HomeKit side when watching from HomeKit
They couldn't just build a magnet/screw combo mount? It would be real easy to put a thread in the center... now they're releasing outdoor cameras with only magnetic mounts. Bizarre.
Hey Shane, I read that the Eufy cameras AI ‘people’ detection doesn’t work at night as it reverts to ‘detect everything’ - do you know if this is the case? Im concerned that my dog and possums would set it off continuously? Best channel out there! Thanks Mike
Can u switch the home kit to eufy app just to use the 2 way talk just to say something then change it back to home kit ? I'm looking to get 4 or more cams can this 2 pro do it ? Can u view video alerts from your t.v. without getting out of bed? My router is in the basement. So if I plug in eufy base downstairs in my basement would I need eufy 's router eee 6 to expand my frequency to the cams ? I live in a brick house. More testing might be needed.
Just a little perplexed on when the camera is mounted do we simply unscrew it from the mount when it needs to be recharged or do we have to remove the whole mount? Thanks for your great video still trying to decide which system to purchase
I would LOVE to know what Eufy (Anker) says about why they have NOT added 2 Factor Authentication!?!? So sure your "Recordings" might be secure, but someone could hack your account just with brute-force cracking and see your videos live. This is NOT cool!!! Why won't they add 2FA!?!?
Do you know if the bit rate on the video for the Pro is improved over the regular cameras? I was thinking that even though you may not be able to record in 2K on HomeKit, the video bit rate may be higher.
I didn’t say it changed the limit of cameras to the HomeBase. The question was can you add the cameras to HK without using HomeKit Secure Video, in which the answer is yes you can add to stream only in HK. Still limited to 4 HK cameras on the HomeBase regardless, you are correct.
Dumb question Shane. I added camera 2 to the hub and Eufy app but Homekit only shows 1 camera. Not sure how to add camera 2. Any help you can offer is appreciated. Thanks 🙏🏼
Sorry for the late reply. Did you figure it out? You need to go into the "HomeKit Authentication" section for the base station in the Eufy app to make sure each camera is checked.
Hi, PLEASE let me know how to setup 3 eufy 2 Pro cameras in an App (Windows and Andriod) to have them LIVE all the time; it's what a surveillance system is all about. If you have not done it before, you may have connections with eufy support that can help us, Thanks!
hello friend I hope you are well, excellent video I have a question the eufy camera works with homekit because all the ones I look for only work with google...
Delay in motion is horrible. as well as not being able to have 2k in Base mode. What were they thinking? SMH. Isn't there a new update that now lets you record in 2k? Thanks for sharing and thanks for being honest.
Hi Shane. I recently bought this camera but haven’t set it up with secure video yet. Do you know if it looses the siren function if I switch over to secure video. I don’t want to loose the tamper siren or the manual trigger particularly.
Not sure if you addressed this but I have a Eufy 2 wired. When I add it to HomeKit, I lose some of the functionality, most important to me is being able to speak to anyone (or my pets) remotely to the room the camera is in. I have stopped my dogs from getting up in the back of the couch (not allowed!) by yelling at them when I’m not at hone. Losing that functionality when integrating with HomeKit is a dealbreaker for me. I wish I’d known beforehand.
Well folks here's something that Eufy doesn't tell you. If you need to change your email address you have to delete all your cameras and your account and start over with the new email address. You can change your password but you cannot change your email with a user name and password.
great review shane! looking to get an indoor cam and a video doorbell. i’m just waiting for eufy’s doorbell to support HSV (and fix the 2-way audio thing on the home app on all their cams). I’m holding out until this happens.
Thanks for the homekit setup instructions. It helped me a lot. I totally forgot to check the cameras during the homekit authentication flow and I wasted time on troubleshooting and resetting the homebase.
Great channel, Shane! I’ve found a number of your videos super helpful. I just wanted to pass along my experience with the EufyCam 2 pro with Homekit. I’ve had my cameras up for 31 days and the one that gets a lot of use on the front of the house over the driveway was down to 9% after these 31 days. Lol. I guess no big deal, since I charged it up this afternoon, but it did take about 7 hours to get back to 100% charge. The one on the side of the house that gets very little traffic, mostly birds and bunnies and the dog patrolling the yard is still at 86%. Thanks for all that you do here!
I have cam 2 pros. The cams and app have been rock solid. The base station has gb Ethernet. I’ve even picked up two of their wireless doorbells which eufy has said hk support should roll out within a month.
Michael Smith nice, glad you are happy with them. Are you using them with HomeKit Secure Video also? Hope they do roll out support for the doorbells. I’m holding off until it’s official. I’ll gladly give my money to the first company that offers a (decent) HomeKit video doorbell.
Shane Whatley yes I’m using hksv. I’m on iOS 14 beta also. The camera zones and facial recognition work great. What’s really nice about iOS 14 is having hk on the Apple TV and being able to watch the kids playing in the yard. I hope one day Apple bumps the resolution up and gives us multi camera views within HomeKit.
Michael Smith nice! Yes I love the iOS 14 features with the camera feeds on the tv also! I haven’t experimented too much with the facial recognition and zones but plan to. Glad to know you’re happy with your eufy cams in HSV.
