Thank you for easing my mind, I assumed something was going wrong on my brand new PC without knowing it 😅 I saw the hard drive light next to the power button was blinking and it lead me here. Lol thanks for letting me know its all as nonsensical as I thought!
i wish i would have seen this before i started trying to fix everything. i am going to stay away from the viewer from now on unless i actually have a problem. Thanks
Sir.., in event viewer management, 1)create custom view In this field In filter tab I can't select any Event logs (it's just shows empty) What to do next ..? Please help
@@askleonotenboom I believe you. There was a time when I could use Event Viewer to figure out exactly what was causing my system or a particular application to crash. They've improved it to the point where it's unusable. They've even made Event Viewer difficult to find. Why? 'Administrative Tools' is now 'Windows Tools'. Why? Control Panel, arguably one of the most useful interfaces for interacting with the operating system, has been hidden from public view, and replaced with 'Settings,' making access to the innards more, not less, difficult. Why? I think they have intentionally dumbed down the available interfaces because they are trying to emulate the Apple/Mac style, where things 'just work.' The problem with that approach is when things don't just work, you're stuck up the creek without a paddle. Then you have to go to the 'Genius Bar' where a person who just recently was in diapers shuffles off to consult their oracle and returns to tell you they don't know what went wrong, but they can fix it by replacing it, and this is what it will cost you. Pay up or begone!
I mean I came here because my system is having problems and I wanted to get a rundown on how to understand the event viewer because I’m noticing patterns in the errors but I can’t quite piece them together…the type of person who would search for this video doesn’t need to hear the information in this video
What about "Setup" and "forwarded events" section of the vent viewer. I just got a new win 11 system and this sections aren't showing logs. On my windows 10 machine it shows the logs no problem.
The title of the video doesn't relate to it's contents. You spent 3/4 of the time warning about scammers exploiting individuals using Event Viewer. Which, is great information. But I still know nothing about Event Viewer...
He really doesn't say anything about it other than it is useless, no it is useful if you know what you are trying to do. For example, you can go to Security log and see who logged on to your computer.
Depends on context. Need more specifics to say. Generally it's a crashing application or component of an application, but it could be other things as well.
I'm just looking for a basic definition. What is "Faulting Application" trying to tell me and what is "Faulting Module" trying to tell me? If the crash could be either ... how do you identify which one crashed?
@@Kmuggle Like I said, those terms alone aren't enough to determine what's going on. More information is needed. Perhaps its there with the EventViewer entry you're getting this from, perhaps it's not. But there's no simple answer.
IMO because Event Viewer is so cryptic and so poorly explained ... it's a useless tool for pretty much everyone unless they're perhaps an IT pro. I've never had a single instance in which Event Viewer was informative or useful in resolving a problem.
