The State of Women Inclusion in India: Progress, but Room for More
Cotha highlighted that the current state of women inclusion in India is promising but needs constant nurturing. Citing a recent study by Grant Thornton, she shared that women now make up 34.5% of the workforce in India, with projections to reach 35% by the end of the year. This marks a significant step forward in creating a more inclusive workspace. However, Kasturi noted that the challenge now is to sustain this growth and not let these achievements plateau.
“There is enough conversation and effort happening around women inclusion,” she observed. But the focus now shifts to “sustaining it.” Sustaining inclusion, Cotha argues, is not a one-sided endeavor. It requires a tripartite approach: organizations, societal changes, and personal readiness of women themselves.
