what a shame that Dr. Karl Brandt used his medical training for killing patients in the Aktion T4 program, which was set up to kill mentally handicapped people, terminally ill patients, and others whom the Nazis called "useless eaters". So tragic that he helped do awful medical experiments on those patients. What an awful waste of talent on the part of Dr. Brandt. Oh I don't know. Everyone here is cool with killing Karl Brandt for his euthanasia program, yet not a word about Canada's euthanasia program which is now literally killing thousands of vulnerable people every year. It was sold to Canadians as a rare act of mercy to end one's unbearable suffering at the end of life, but today homeless folks, those struggling with addiction issues, the depressed, disabled people with no terminal condition, etc.... are at risk of being euthanized.

We kill to force our enemies to submit. Once they do we do our best to restore what we destroyed if there is any hope of reforming them at least. We fought a civil war against ourselves. The enemy we hated most but felt the most kinship with. After that war, no foreign enemy should think we are incapable of brutality but if they submit there is always mercy. What mercy could the nazis enemies hope for. Sure they didn't execute many brits or Americans, but that's because we had a million or more of them in our custody and and wanton killing of our men would lead inevitably to reprisals. The Krauts had no mercy in their hearts and war to them eas something to use as a tool to replace diplomacy. To us war is the last resort only turned to when all other efforts fail or when you are attacked. It's true we were the first to come up with eugenics, but when we realized it was nonsense and couldn't be verified, we abandoned it completely. The Krauts resurrected it and that's like bringing back bloodletting and the idea of humors. Once something is proven to be false you drop it. Ideas can get creative with humans, which is why you need to prove them before you take them up. You can use a theory for awhile,..but once it's disproven or it comes ro a point where proving it becomes impossible, you can't hold that theory up anymore. The man who.invented rotal war once said, "War is cruelty. There is no point in trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over." But having said that, Sherman did not murder jews or euthanize children. He made war hard on the populace because that populace was in rebellion against The Republic and for our Republic to survive, we needed to bring it back together whether the enemy wanted it or not. What made WWII similar to The Cival War, was that we fought an enemy that was not just armies but the people who supplied and supported those armies and refused to recall them or submit. Sherman also said this, " This war differs from other wars, in this particular. We are not fighting armies but a hostile people, and must make old and young, rich and poor, feel the hard hand of war". So when I hear Krauss say that we are no different and we are worse even...I can't help buy be thankful for their sake that we are not. If we were like them,there would be no Germany or Japan today. We still worry about Germany when we see her taking too big a place in The EU. It's why we were releived when Britain got out.
