Saw it at a critic’s screening last night and both of your reactions were spot on. Well acted but there’s not enough info to really connect with the possessed girls before they’re possessed, which makes it hard to really get behind them. Still, Alonso is right: The power of Ann Dowd compels you for sure. She’s always been one of my favorite character actresses dating back to the ‘90s and she knocks it out of the park.

"The power of Ann Down compels you!" LOL Nobody messes with Aunt Lydia! I was just proud that when I saw the trailer for this in front of Oppenheimer, I had the franchise pegged with just 2 notes of Tubular Bells. Mike Oldfield's music is iconic!

Thanks for watching this so I don’t have too. Saw the first exorcist and after that film, I’ve never watched it again, or any of the sequels. Yeah, it was that good and legitimately scared me that much.

I just picked up the original on 4K BluRay. Like you both, I have zero expectations for this and would not see it in a theater. Hopefully people will subscribe to your wonderful channel and you'll reach your target very soon.

The thing I think that made The Exorcist the masterpiece of horror that it has long since become has a good deal to do with how it was directed. It took it time and felt grounded in the real world before Reagan begins to show signs and even after that we get powerful scenes such as the doctors running teste (you really feel sorry for Reagan) and we see this doctors admit they don't have a clue what is wrong with her. You feel for her mother as she tries to find the help for her. This is the key in my view to the original. It is a movie that is grounded in real and makes you care while at same time having all those horrific supernatural things you expect.

Ann Dowd is always great. I don't know if Christy watched The Leftovers, but Ben and Alonso reviewed it on WTF, and that the was my introduction to her. I don't think I've seen one ordinary performance from her, let alone a bad one.

David Gordon Green almost rivals Steven Soderbergh as a modern director with the most varied filmography. Does anyone remember that, once upon a time, he made celebrated indies like All The Real Girls and George Washington?

@@BreakfastAllDay Christie, I remember your negative review of Saw! I remember you mentioning it was very manipulative or exploitative (I forget the adjective, but it wasn't positive), especially because it dealt with the kidnapping/torturing of a child, which I agree with. However, Saw X involves no children, the people in traps-- without giving anything away-- deserve what's happening to them once you find out why they're in there. And, the interesting part is, for the first hour, it's actually a slow-burn, a character study of Jigsaw, and a social commentary on how the medical/healthcare system is not only behind on oncology pain management and/or preserving life, but it's a commentary on how the healthcare system screws over the sick and dying. Saw X takes place between Saw and Saw II, in a similar way that The Exorcist takes place between 1 and 2, and Halloween takes places between 1 and 2. Saw X has a Certified Fresh rating of 84% (as of recent). Believe me, I was shocked. I have seen every single movie leading up to it, and not one would I say "oh, that's great!" Saw X is actually great, and it plays more like a -requel (as Scream 6 would put it). It's spooky season. After the disappointment of The Exorcist: Believer, you deserve a good palette cleanser :)

I didn't see the original Exorcist until 5 years ago in my horror cinema class in college and I thought it was alright but not nearly as scary as it was hyped to be but I guess it was moreso scary for it's time and also depending on the age you watched it. I prefer Legion while not perfect has some of the best acting I've ever seen. I'm curious to check this one out. The trailer gives off Overlord and Nun 2 vibes where it looks like it could be scary but it seems like those two films it actually isn't. Update: I was right not scary at all and essentially a slower paced version of the trailer but well acted.

They haven’t done a proper scary movie since 2020’s “The Invisible Man.” Post-pandemic, horror movies have been 💩. But Hulu’s recent “NO ONE CAN SAVE YOU,” was good. It was entertaining.

My favorite part was when Chris McNeil said to Victor "It must have been due to their patriarchy" or whatever the hell the exact line was when she was referring to why she wasn't included in Regan's exorcism. I then rolled my eyes and thought, of course this had to be another film to mention the patriarchy. So stupid, and even the exorcism was pretty bad. The first hour I mildly enjoyed, flaws and all, but it couldn't save this from being very mediocre. Whoever edited the trailers deserves an Oscar for tricking us lol. Wrong director for the film, and in some ways the wrong writers as well, and I was really pushing for this film to prove us wrong.

Watched The Pope's Exorcist the other day and was utterly bored. I feel like the whole exorcism genre just has nothing left in it so was curious how this would fare being a sequel to the original Exorcist and bringing back Ellen Burstyn. Someone else mentioned Exorcist III being pretty freaky and, although it has some flaws, I do agree.

Exorcist Believer is quite like all the rest of today's movies; to perfect and overdone to make a realistic impression of a true story. It's rather boring in the end actually. There's no... Authentic Originality. A lack of Real Art. Vintage classic movies are still the best! 🖤😀👍

Once again, why are you reviewing films you have no reason to review. Way too many people are reviewing films as it is. I make a bet you only saw the original Exorcist once or maybe twice and then forgot about it, right? I'm a fan and have seen it lots of times.
