Ppl in the story tend to forget, the Roci was one of Mars’ most advance frigates, with all of their most advanced and updated tech, in a compact and highly maneuverable, as well as, heavily armed, ship design. That’s why Mars wanted that ship back so bad, it was one of their prized new line of ships, that Holden and Co. basically jacked and claimed it as salvage, FOR FREE.
Whilst I agree with what you've put, it was one of their most advance corvettes, at this point it's quite an old ship and hasn't been updated with the MCRN's latest hardware or software!
@@RekAkATom they make that point a lot more clear in the books than they do in the show I think. it's clear, book after book, that while it was once the best of the best it's then slightly outdated but still well above average, then more than slightly outdated and a bit above average, etc. by the time they're looking at fighting some of the newer Mars ships Duarte gave to the Free Navy it's definitely a bit of an underdog. at the same time, though, Naomi's written a bunch of custom code for PDC tracking and torpedo guidance to continue to fine-tune the ship. that said, it does have the railgun, which gives it a capability even the newer Martian ships don't generally have at that weight class.
@@Narfwak Yeah, they mention it quite often in the books in retrospect. I agree that Naomi's made changes to the code and so on and whilst I imagine she's very good at what she does, I still doubt it would be as good as the MCRN's updates it would have received normally, excluding the rail gun of course! :)
