I'm like the Minimum Wage MBA. I have a pile of degrees and experience and very little money. But this is one of the best videos I've ever seen on RU-vid because it crystalises a number of things from my own experience into certainty. A satisfied customer is a customer whose problem has been solved. Problem solving is a skill the greats always talk about. Well done, Sam, top notch.

I’ve been building my own coaching business for 7 years, getting certified, trained, and working with clients. Growth has been slow only because I’ve held back thinking I need to be an expert. Sam is spot on and his message helps to remove this limiting belief. I’m now talking to my market and it’s helping me be laser focused on a solution someone actually needs and willing to pay money. People pay for a future free of what keeps them up at night. Great video!

One of the most inspiring and affirming videos I've ever seen! I realize now that, as I get into starting my new Amazon consulting business, I've been doing the Market Backwards approach all along, but it sure feels good to have my method confirmed by someone else, and someone who's really made it work. I've always been a perfectionist, and it's held me back so much because I never quite feel like enough of an "expert." So, I keep reminding myself of all the useful skills that I do have, and keep learning every single day. Thanks, Sam.

This happened exactly to me I studied social communication and since I didn't want to work in a company I started on my own business but I quickly realized that nobody cared about my degree and that I couldn't solve anany real problems so I had to unlearn all the nonsense that i learnded at university and learn what I really needed to solve problems. Know i know im on the right track. Having to be and expert its a lie!!!

Hi Sam, I attended your consulting webinar a couple of weeks ago. Although I was a bit dissapointed that it was pre recorded I left with very valuable information. I'm a traveling 21 year old photographer writer, bum, vegan and whatever else you can think of who currently makes his money through commercial photo and videography. I wouldve loved to take your deal/discount on consulting classes + the Tai Lopez sale teaching but I currently did not have the budget for the generous price and now have to wait for the next opportunity to arise. Even though I don't have the funds to currently invest further in your knowledge of consulting to start my own practice I want to still thank you for giving this to us all and genuinely helping those of us who need a little help climbing higher to the top. I appreciate it Sam!

I 100% agree to this. It's like the universal law wether in the service industry or physical products industry as well. For example, you don't sell the products you want or like or know about, instead you start researching about the product using market demand and competition. Once you have this, then you launch that product. It's similar to consulting and I 100% agree to this.

Bullshit. I've got nothing for solving differential equations by hand in college. And made a lot teaching English in Skype. What defines what you want is how much value your provide and ask for in return.

@@felipedeornelas8054 what is a lot ? $50/hr teaching english ?
@felipedeornelas8054
@felipedeornelas8054 4 года назад
@@cihan.a Wow. That would be absurd by American standards, let alone Brazilian standards, which is where I live. The most I charged hourly was something that would convert to about $15, and it was locally. With 50 dollars an hour you would have thousands of young Americans getting in line for the job. But can I compete with true native speakers? Does it make a difference proximity with students if the classes are by Skype? Don't get me wrong, $50 an hour is not an absurd income by itself, but you have to compare the income with the scarticy of the skill you are providing, and if I think about it, what really made my bucks with my private classes was my sales pitch. But scarcity doesn't necessarily translate to difficulty, speaking English in Brazil is scarce, only ~3% of people are fluent, but it really came to me with no effort at all, just like it came to you, you simply got exposed to it as a child (assuming you're native). So yes, you can make a decent livable income teaching English online, but don't expect to make a fortune when your competition has such a small barrier of entry.

Thats not true. I don't see how so many people can think that. $ from solving small problems for a lot of people = $ from solving big problems for a handful of people You don"t have to solve huge problems to make huge money.

There's a JP Sears video where he talks about his degree, obviously it's satire, he says because the best way to get started in your professional life is being 100k in debt. Then he says at the moment I'm unemployed but last month I worked for 3 days for an 18 year old tech entrepreneur, but he had to let me go because I lacked practical skills. Then he says, but I have a plan, I will use what I learned in my degree...to open a video rental store. GENIUS. You'd love that video

Excelent video Sam. I tend to believe that I’m stopping myself from getting ahead by thinking that I must be an expert to succeed. Yes we have to continue improving but there’s no need to know it all to solve a problem. As always great and awesome content.
@steve_moreland

I agree, Problem-first approach trumps content-pushing approach. Partly because the former uses questions to allow the client to express what's causing them pain and what their preferred outcome looks like. The latter is what the "experts" do... pushing content because they belief is that they know best. I appreciate your insights. They've helped me make a difference in the lives of my new clients.

Overall your videos are great! But I don t share your opinion on degrees and MBAs. They are there to testitfy that you have successfully gone through the basics and advanced studies in the field you ve concentrated your efforts on. It doesn't make you all knowing, but it's a pretty strong and valid base to start with. If you believe NASA, Amazon and every corporations out there would hire people without degrees to fill in executive positions, non-executive positions, essential positions within different deparments, you re definetly wrong. For instance in accounting, they ll never hire you unless you ve gone through a bachelor (minimum). Businesses don't have time to teach you basics and advanced stuff which take years. Therefore they rely on your degrees to prove that you know your basics and that you are adequate to the job description. The system is built on this principle and it's been like that for decades. In consulting, someone without his basics covered through at least some degrees or many many years of experience will give out poor advices to his customers no matter the niche they re in. Not everyone is born a genius tbh

I think public education is brainwashing and makes us dumber. Fx doctors know how to poison people with toxic drugs so the symptoms gets hidden without adressing the cause. I recomend reading "dumbing down of america" by john taylor gatto.
@dcbsdm
@dcbsdm 5 лет назад
I agree with you but I think this is changing, the amount of business CEOs who literally don’t give a shit about your degree is skyrocketing. Once our younger generation has all these lead positions in companies (CTO, etc) they will look for actual real life experience, travel, businesses you’ve started, social media presence, and most importantly SKILLS. I don’t think someone with an BA in accounting knows any more than someone who self-taught accounting over 4 years while working and saving money. Again, I agree but I think what Sam is saying will be 100% correct very shortly. And I’m sure a new form of education will pop up and will replace degrees as a prerequisite for any good job. :)

I just discovered this channel and absolutely love it. I 100% agree with the problem solving aspect, but I am curious how this fits with the sports and entertainment industries. What problems are successful actors and athletes solving? Would that be the public's need to have fun, be inspired, or to take mental breaks from time to time? Or something else?

That's actually part of my plan: I want to make money, then go out and find intelligent people and give them money to just do anything (work for me, invest, travel the world, study, do their own research job, have a child...) This is the giving it back stage, not the making money stage, I'm weird, not crazy.

i DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY ONLINE COURSE . BUT he got a point on the market backward approach . actually this is a common practice for people in engineering who have acquired the "basic degree" but after a few years working in big corporation doing basic concrete structure stuff they left the company for some more specialized firm such as steel or glass structures . some even choose to do a phD and became not just specialized in practice but also in their academic qualification (and knowledge plus international connections that comes with the phd's exposure ) .
