Shawn interviews Dr. David Allen to discuss his monumental work: The Extent of the Atonement. This work covers the history of the doctrine of the Extent of the Atonement. They discuss what is the atonement? What are the best arguments for both Limited and Unlimited Atonement? Who were the best advocated for each position? And why Unlimited Atonement matters in one's understanding of the Gospel?

Love the analogy of the restaurant. I think what needs to be said is this, while God in Christ was reconciling the world to Himself (the false profits that He bought) we shall be save by His life. There seems to be a distinction between His death for the world and reconciling new life at belief in Christ.

ive been studying the issue of the extent of the atonement for YEARS. and i am utterly convinced that limited atonement is absolute Bible truth, and that unlimited atonement is false and very un-biblical.

You should read Allen's book. It is by far the most comprehensive treatment on the subject.

So you choose to believe in a theology that says you love people more than God does. I don't know if you have kids or not, but according to your theology, they might not be predestined to salvation, which means God doesn't love them.

At 12:12 Dr. Allen says the extent of the atonement in salvation is defined as : "If they will meet Gods condition of repentence of sin and faith "in" Jesus Christ." This summarized explanation of his 800+ page book is, in his own words, broken down to this simple explaination. Where in the Holy Writ does it say an unregenerate is capable of "repenting" of sin prior to being "in" Christ? Where in fact, does it say in the Holy Writ thst man can earn Gods grace by their unregenerate work of repenting from sin? Verse references please. Dr. Allen puts regeneration after the unregenerate repents from sin. Why did Christ come again? If an unregenerate can repent from sin prior to being "in" Christ, where is the power of Gods grace in Christ Jesus needed?

Where does it teach that one must be born again in order to repent? People repent of sins all that time that don't believe in Jesus or even know He exits. Atheists repent of their drunkenness, join AA, and don't touch alcohol again - that's repentance. It doesn't earn salvation because it only takes one sin for someone to be a sinner. But the idea that only the regenerate can repent is unbiblical and kind of insane based on a simple examination of human life and the Word of God.

@@RevReads Sin is against God and God only. Only the children of God can be granted repentance by God, otherwise any repentance of sin as a unregenerate is "works." Psalm 51:2-4 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. [3] For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. [4] Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Even if your suggestion were Truth, which is it not, if a man through his own works repented of every sin he had prior to hearing about Christ, he is still unforgiven of his sin before he heard of Christ, if he is not born again from above by the will and grace of God alone.

Repentance doesn't save someone's soul. Repentance is turning from sin, but turning from sin doesn't save. It does help one's temporal life but it doesn't make one right with God. To be saved one must believe in the Savior and His completed work and His promises of eternal life.

Limited atonement also compromises and confuses the glory of God by at least suggesting God receives glory by sending to hell those He did not atone for.

Here's just one, of a vast majority, verses clearly depicting limited atonement. John 10:25-29 😢 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. [26]👉 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep👈, as I said unto you. [27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: [28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. [29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

This doesn't in any way support limited atonement or prove that Jesus did not die for those who do not believe. Jesus doesn't even state who He dies for in those verses. You can only see limited atonement in John 10, if you come into that passage with a presupposition that it is true.

No, why would anyone believe in such an unbiblical doctrine found nowhere in Scripture and denied in multiple places? Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

But is someone rejects Christ then their sins aren’t atoned for. So wouldn’t that be limited atonement because it’s only applies to those who believe? Allen is then saying that people still have their sins atoned for even if they reject Christ. So I guess there’s wasted atonement on the part of Christ sacrifice? Explain?

This is the issue not 1 person is saved by the atonement so if not 1 person is saved by the atonement be applied after belief it's already happened 2000 years ago. Past present and futur
