Dr. Sneha Anne Philip, was a fiercely independent and highly intelligent young woman from Kerala, India. Her unquestioned care for patients, curiosity in multiple arts, and desire to see the entire world were all cut short by a troubling disappearance in September of 2001 in the hours leading up to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, leaving all who knew her in Manhattan communitity and the entirety of New York City at large grasping for answers in a sea of mysteries that drowned us all in doubt… As a hope to provide more substantial reasoning built upon observable evidence and situational analysis, this is an examination of the disappearance of Sneha Anne Philip in the leadup to one of the darkest days in American history, and the decades long fight for her family to set the record straight on Sneha’s fate, and ultimately, her heroic legacy. This is Cold Case Detective.
The following episode covers sensitive topics such as terrorism, suicide, addiction, and mental disorders. Viewer discretion is advised.

@Terri_MacKay
@Terri_MacKay Год назад
Exactly. And just because she had always been safe in the past, doesn't mean that something terrible didn't happen that night. Being safe in the past had nothing to do with whether or not she was safe/unsafe on that night. It irritated me no end that so many people are assuming that she died at the WTC that morning while trying to help the injured. Not only is there absolutely zero evidence for this, but now she's celebrated as a hero and her family benefitted financially. I understand that it probably makes her family feel better to believe that's how she died, and it certainly makes it easier on the NYPD to declare her a victim of 9/11, but there isn't a single piece of evidence for this being the truth. I believe something happened to her the night before, and she never made it back to her building at all on the morning of 9/11. Apparently, it was hard to see the woman at the elevator, and Ron said that the woman "could be" Sneha, but he didn't positively identify her. And she did a lot of shopping the day before, yet the woman at the elevator wasn't carrying anything. I can understand forgetting something small on the bus/train...an umbrella, a book, a small bag...and most of us have done it. But the idea that she accidently left a half dozen large bags behind on the train is ludicrous, that really is reaching.
@justalittleturtle5600
@justalittleturtle5600 Год назад
@@Terri_MacKay to be fair to the idea of leaving your stuff behind, I have literally done that. I left about five shopping bags at my grandmothers house after shopping with her all afternoon. I didn’t even realize I had forgotten them until I got home and out of the car and realized my bags weren’t in the back. People can do crazy things when they’re a little bit tired or off their normal schedule. Because of that, I wouldn’t entirely discount the theory of her forgetting her bags, merely because I have done that exact same thing.
@Terri_MacKay
@Terri_MacKay Год назад
@@justalittleturtle5600 I've done the same thing. Gone shopping, went to visit one of my sisters, and left shopping or something else there. But in the video, they were wondering if the woman at the elevator was Sneha, because she had done a lot of shopping but wasn't carrying anything. They speculated that maybe she had left her shopping on the subway, not at someone's house. I can believe leaving it at someone's house. But, if you're on a subway or bus, you've probably got some bags next to you and some on your lap. It's hard to believe that in that case, she would get off the train without them. There were things left out of this story. Like, her husband thought she may have stayed with a relative overnight because she had done that before, in which case she could have left her shopping there. But it was never made clear if we know for sure that she did stay with relatives, and did she/didn't she take the bags with her when she left in the morning. That seems like a pretty big fact to leave out.

I've watched a documentary on this and it's speculated (and I tend to agree with it) that they wanted her to be a hero in death and not as the alcoholic with a criminal record. Her husband admitted she stayed out often, going home with women she met at gay bars, he says it wasn't for sexual reasons. I find that bs, what married woman goes home with strangers, not just once, but several times, for no other reason. Not to mention, having her a victim of 911 gave her husband access to a lot of money, life insurance and other victims funds set up.

@@itsmackenzie The husband probably knew his wife was gay & was feeling embarrassed to tell the real thing about her going home with the women she meets at gay bar, hence the conflict in their relationship & her drinking issue, also him caring more about accessing the 9/11 victim benefits. It seems like there are many gaps in the story, however, reading about this case, there's a one detail that gave me chills. It is said that some years after 9/11, there's was an anonymous drawing uploaded to the anonymous confession website, the drawing was the twin towers with fire raging out of them, under that there was a caption which read: "Everyone who knew me before 9/11, thinks I'm dead". I'm glad other people are recognizing this. It's too bad how this video does indeed gloss over some of the allegedly "unsavory" parts of Dr. Phillips' life. Personally, I believe she died downtown on 9/11, and I admire her actions that much more _because_ she was such an "imperfect", distinctly human individual. In a moment of supreme crisis I believe she transcended her troubles, fell back on her training, and headed towards danger in order to help other people. Like a good doctor. She doesn't have to be a saint for me to admire her. She shouldn't have to be for anyone to admire her. I wish videos like this would cease _attempting to_ sanctify her.

Many things don't hold up. She was an alcohol addict. She would spend time with unknown people at gay bars. She spent time wandering in certain pubs. Seems like she and her husband weren't getting along or she was a gay or bisexual. Something is fishy about her. Her husband also didn't care that she wasn't spending time with him is weird. Something doesn't add up. Some of information is hidden in my opinion. My best guess is she left her husband and family maybe because she was guilty of being a gay. It's two possible scenarios that could be factuality! And that is that the woman that was captured on video could could have been a very important piece to this puzzle. She could have been involved in the disappearance of Sheha along with a unidentified party who was never mentioned in the police investigation. This gives strong indication as to why this woman was never found or stepped forward. Is she was involved as this could have been a crime of passion! A three way gone wrong which resulted in this woman or the third unidentified party maybe the woman husband or lover killing Sheha. And the reason as why the woman on video was ever identified or tracked down as she could have escape justice and fled back to foreign land! U have to consider this possible given that when you view the video of Sheha and this mysterious woman! She do not look american born so it's possible that this woman have not been tracked down as the reason as her and the other unidentified party left the United States and fled back to their home State. Or my last theory that makes a lot more sense is that Sheha may have been a victim of a serial killer. Considering that In 2001 she disappeared under very suspicious circumstances doing the heart of the then unknown long island serial killer, who was abducting and killing women thru out the state of New York. The man who is now labled long island serial killer rex heuermann I believe was the prime suspect in the disappearance of Sheha Anne Phillips..

She did not spend the night of Sept 10th with her brother or her cousin. Evidence that she even came back to the apartment on Sept 11th is insufficient. If she was smart, she would have avoided ground zero. If she was going to ground zero to assist, why did she not inform her husband or a family member? When she heard about the attack, why did she not call her husband? What you have presented leads one to the conclusion that she was either abducted or ran away the night of Sept 10th. Lastly, a woman enjoying an active social life is not a crime and should not be judged negatively.

Sneha's struggles with alcohol and other aspects of her life are treated so lightly in this documentary, it does not take any special powers of observation to come to the conclusion that her life may well have been falling apart and spiraling out of control rapidly, I am surprised by her husband's attitude to her spending night's out and staying away from home, if we are to believe it he was totally at ease with her living like this, even as a viewer I feel extremely uncomfortable knowing that she was out at all hours and the idea that she knew what she was doing ,could spot trouble and take care of herself fall apart as soon as you take into account her drinking problem, the whole thing seems to be steered toward her being a hero during 9/11 but it is hard for me to imagine any individual no matter what their medical skills and training may be rushing into such a horrific scene, I obviously do not know what happened to Sneha but the possibilities remain wide open as far as I can ascertain.
@onewotldgovernmentonlywhen9044
The husband most likely knew all of her friends who she went out with and she did call the police on the intern. She was probably threatened to drop the charges on the intern. Why didn’t she call anyone on the morning of 911 to let them know what she was going to do if she was going to the tower? Someone is hiding something. Someone knows something I don’t think she faked her death she paused going to college for a year for her husband to graduate with him that tells you a lot of her love for her husband

A puzzling case. Two questions immediately jump to mind: what is the evidence Sneha really was at the WTC when the terror attacks happened and why didn't she come back home that night? Wouldn't it be more logical to think something happened to her at the time she didn't return home after her shopping. The presenter says it wasn't unusual for her to spend the night at the relative's house, but neatly omits to mention if they questioned the relatives about her whereabouts that night. It is very unlikely she tried to fake her own death; it is more likely she met some sort of foul play after her shopping.

This video is problematic because it seems to be carrying the propaganda torch on behalf of the family, downplaying the significance of Dr. Phillips' nighttime activities. I'm seeing many many comments asking the same question: "why didn't she come back home?" This says to me this video didn't do enough of a job explaining the whole picture adequately. I've read several articles about this case, and basically Dr. Phillips was, by 9/11, going out all night a lot, usually to lesbian bars, and not making any effort to check in with her husband. There's a particularly bizarre beat in this video where the narrator seems to suggest that Dr. Phillips was going to LGBTQ bars primarily so she couldn't be hit on? This is absurd because she was obviously quite attractive and I can't imagine the lesbians and/or bi-women _weren't going_ to hit on her in their own bars. Dr. Phillips was almost certainly bisexual, maybe even outright gay, and her marriage was essentially a mess. I'm paraphrasing because it's been a while since I read about this case, but I remember reading that their marriage was in serious trouble. This is why she didn't come home. She didn't give a damn. People are also wondering why she didn't bring the bags home. Part of her shopping spree involved lingerie; my guess is it was almost certainly not meant for....her husband (I also suspect she didn't want him to know exactly how much she'd spent....) To be fair, IT'S POSSIBLE she was murdered September 10th, without a body anything's possible, but I'm personally pretty convinced, when she saw what was happening downtown, she reverted back to her training and did what she could to help. Which is likely why no one's seen her since. Unfortunately.

I personally don't believe Sneha ran away (you'd need a lot of planning for that and it doesn't seem like she'd planned for it) but it's intriguing as, from what I have gathered, the items she bought on that day were never found either. She didn't go home that day, so where did she go? I think foul play is equally likely unfortunately, as any evidence of foul play in another area would have likely gone amiss if it was in close proximity to the WTC. So you have two (likely) options - 1) She died when the towers collapsed after attempting to assist but spent the night of September 10th elsewhere (and left her purchases there also? Although I can see unclaimed shopping being overlooked in the chaos) 2) She met with foul play as she headed home from her shopping and the crime scene/evidence was lost or overlooked in the aftermath of the collapse. Additionally, was her husband's card ever found? She had it on her and I'm assuming he didn't immediately cancel it in case he'd be able to track further purchases on it and possibly lead to Sneha? As it's not mentioned I presume it was never used again after September 10th?

I will say CCD drawing their conclusion as that of the husband and families is surprising to me..(I expected there to be an open conclusion for the viewers to decide) anyhow…picturing her just running into danger like some sort of battle field nurse may be better saved for a movie script . She was a medical doctor not a panicked stranger looking to help. A medical doctor knows running directly into public danger (that large) is not going to save many lives when it can result in them losing their life..Also I would assume she would run to help and then maybe run back out trying to help as many as possible. Not just help 1 person & then die right there. She was clearly going though a crisis even though she never lost her medical license I’m sure losing her job would be very difficult to explain to her parents (especially her father) who I’m sure she wanted to make proud. While we like to talk about the many hero’s of 9/11 there were also many 9/11 hero fakers…Im sure her family wanted her to die a hero but there just simply is not enough conclusive evidence to prove that. Her reputation as a person and medical doctor does not automatically merit her a hero.

The idea that Sneha left with no money, no ID, no medical credentials to start a new life is slightly preposterous. How on earth would she begin a new life with no money? She was definitely under a lot of stress - she was likely unhappy in her profession, probably her parents were questioning her constantly, her husband was likely also in conflict with her as she seemingly spiraled and became addited to alcohol - but the "how" of the run-away theory just isn't there. I believe she either died as the towers fell because it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a trained doctor to want to help and at the time no one could even imagine the towers were going to fall as they did. Or she did meet with foul play and the 9/11 attacks was a coincidence that made it easy to hide the body and all evidence. The chaos of that day, especially in that area of Manhatten, was insane. Agreed, being murdured during an absolute tragedy like 9/11 makes it even more easy for the guilty person who killed her. It's like during a war when a person is mysteriously killed on their way home, people are preoccupied with death and damage daily. The murderers don't have to hide. Horrific.

It is easier for her family to accept this theory. The husband too. For thee narrator to say this without substantial evidence, is strange. It is based on the theory she returned the next morning as purported by the CCTV. Also her humanitarian personality. This is hardly solid enough to base such a conclusion unless a witness testified she stayed with him or her, and retuned the next morning.

If Sneha had left her shopping bags on the train or in a cab, someone would have remembered seeing it. Anyone she stayed the night with, even in anonymous sense, would have remembered. The unsubstantiated reasoning for what it was Sneha in that lobby is completely asinine. The fact of the matter is that there's no proof whatsoever that she was at ground zero. Hers is a case that has no proof that points in ANY direction. This video'sn inclusion seems like an obvious bid to agree with the family at all costs. Her contract had not been renewed due to alcohol abuse and tardiness. She'd been arrested and in jail. Her brother supposedly caught her in bed with his girlfriend. She was suspended from her new job for failure to meet with her substance abuse counselor, which had been a requirement of her being hired. The rules were not for her. I understand the tendency to paint Dr. Philip as a heroic victim; however, her behavior leading up to 09-11 was erratic at best. While her habits of drinking to excess and staying out all night have [understandably] been downplayed by her husband and family, they are extremely problematic and indicative of an individual not happy in their life or marriage. Additionally, according to The Charley Project, she purchased _over $500 worth_ of lingerie, in addition to the dress, shoes, and bed linens. While it's _possible_ the lingerie was intended for use at home, her behavior didn't seem to indicate it was. And to top it off, there's no reason her home computer would have evidence of researching how to start a new life if the plans were being made with and at the residence of the person with whom she was spending those nights away from home. Sorry, not sorry, this woman does not seem the tragic heroine to me.

I am sorry but your conclusion seemed kinda biased as if you already are very much certain that she died helping the victims at ground zero! This is a mere speculation and you said it yourself. Your own statement contradicts this conjecture. Her behavior was extremely shady leading up to her disappearance and she didn't come home on the night of 10th. It's not like everything was a-okay prior to that. She was not happy in her marriage and hardly spent her time at home. Also as far as I know there are records of people who rushed to the aid of 9/11 victims. If she was among them, there would have been some record. I surmise she met with foul play! However unlike you I am not gonna assert that this is exactly what happened. Your conclusion needs to be open to interpretation! It needs to have room for opinion. Also, her friend was supposed to get married later, not on the 11th! Why would she go there then? If she was there to inspect the place, she must have informed her friend before she went. Did she though? I miss your earlier videos which used to be more well-researched and fact-based.

Why would she have something to do with it? How very rude. The woman was murdered or killed by something sinister. It just doesn't make sense she wouldn't be home with her belongings the night before that fateful day of the 11th. The NYPD and other detectives have skipped an entire night. She goes shopping and that's it? No phone call to her family or Husband? No check in at her home to feed the cats, spend time with her Husband etc Was she on the run? From what I've seen here and the segment on Unsolved Mysteries, there's really no hard evidence let alone proof that Sneha was even in the area on the night of the 10th or the morning of the 11th. Plus, if she went shopping before (supposedly) going out for the night then where did she sleep? Where's the stuff she bought? The CCTV of a woman (that can't even be positively identified) at the apartment doesn't really hold water for me since she should have had those shopping bags with her if they were indeed for the house and herself. Especially the linens. Also, on the UM segment it states that the store clerk recognized Sneha as a regular customer and saw her with another Indian woman. She asked Sneha if the woman was a sister, and Sneha told her the woman was just a friend. So when Ron went back and re-examined the store footage (which they show you in the segment), it did appear as though there was a lady standing near her at the exit in such a way that it could appear as though they were spending time together, but admittedly that's still debatable. So if the clerk knew Sneha I don't think she was mistaken on who she spoke to, which begs the question: Was the clerk lying about the conversation, was Sneha lying about her connection to this unknown woman, or was there some other misunderstanding/miscommunication at play here? Personally, I think it's feasible that she did her shopping, came to meet foul play sometime that night and was possibly kidnapped and brought elsewhere. It would explain no body or her belongings from the day she disappeared being found anywhere in NY at the time, and why no one she knew heard from her or saw her after the shopping trip.

A tad ignorant and bias in this video. No one has any solid proof where she ended up. It was in the families interest to push the 9/11 theory as they would receive a large payout. I doubt strongly that was Sneha in the video at the lift. It's highly unlikely she would forget ALL of her shopping bags....one maybe but not multiple. The marriage doesn't seem solid either. Going out at night, not returning and not notifying her husband on more than one occasion is troublesome. Something untoward could just as likely have happened to her after her shopping spree and before 9/11.

Was CCD paid by Rob to write this story? In the "theories" section there was no mention of Rob as a suspect. His wife lost 2 contracts, was an alcoholic, out partying a lot, potentially having affairs, no job but spending money on new clothes and shoes (3 pairs on the same trip!) using his credit card. Id say he was embarrassed with her behaviour and pissed off at her spending. Its not a stretch to theorise that they fought after she got home or they might have met up somewhere. He could have planned it and drugged her or maybe he stran.gled her while fighting.

Well said. I was thinking exactly the same thing. Because something about this whole scenario just doesn't add up..

maybe because of his behavior after? He has been pursuing it ever since then and not able to move on. Although I think he has finally re-married, he was doing a lot and going everywhere, hiring detectives, following all leads to find her. He could have just stayed silent and let the WTC issue do the speaking, but he didn't. His behavior doesn't exactly come off like a suspect to me. He might have been p whipped, but I don't think he murdered her.

And why is she an alcoholic? What’s the reason behind that? And spending nights away from home? Was life spiralling out of control and becoming unbearable and was she ashamed of her situation that it made her want to end her life? Also, sorry, but such risky behaviour can attract danger.

I don't think she was killed in 911, what is presented in this video leads me to believe she met with something foul the night she didn't come home. Poor woman...

I don't believe she went to the TT that day. Where did she spend the night? No one has come forward to say she was with them? It's not likely she left her shopping items at a strangers house. The odds of her being at the restaurant at the top of the TT would be astronomical. She was either killed after meeting someone at one of those clubs or she walked away. The problem with that is if she is ever arrested her fingerprints will ID her. It is a shame no matter what happened. Where was her husband (it's usually always the spouse). He could not have been okay with is wife spending the night at someone else's house all night. No way, not believing that statement.

There are numerous missing pieces in this story, and even the denouement is disturbingly hypothetical. Clearly, this was a young woman of privilege and promise living a dissolute, worldly lifestyle in one of the country's most worldly and dissolute cities. It's generous to imagine that she died the death of a hero in the midst of one of the most cowardly man-made catastrophes of modern times. Maybe so, but in all likelihood we will never know. I hope she won the battle in the end, but I'm more cynical than the author of this piece. Clearly this lady was in freefall headed for nothing good.

Priviledge. She's not white, but her husband is Juu wish so maybe she had that priviledge.

I'm glad at least some of the comments are calling you out for glossing over her alcohol and substance issues and trying to make her seem like a hero. I get the family has financial and other gains from doing it, I don't get why a youtuber needs to do that.

If she ever went back to her flat, she would have brought back all the clothes she bought. There’s no mention here of her shopping goods which tells me she never made it back home on September 10 or the morning of September 11. Something happened to her between the shopping center and home.

I think she met with foul play on the night of the 10th overnight into the 11th. She was likely dead by the terrorist attacks.

Saying that she couldn't have been murdered because she was used to staying out late and partying with strangers is weird logic. It takes only one bad guy in one particular place at one particular time to commit a murder, without any reference at all to anything that may have happened before until that particular point in time. That is the nature of happenstance and caprice. ps: at 9:33 it clearly says the husband's cellphone was pinged at 4 am from a phone line INSIDE the apartment, and that Sneha was the only other person with access to the apartment. That would mean she was inside the apartment at that time to have made that missed call. So surely there is CCTV footage of her having entered the apartment building and leaving it at that time? What was the followup on that? But then again, if she was inside the apartment, why would she give her sleeping hubby a missed call?
@disillusionedanglophile7680
She spent the night out, away from the marital bed, then she did the "walk of shame" to ground zero. Ridiculous. She met foul play then she floated down the East River, lost in the chaos of the 911 (amateur pilots fake news "terrorist" attacks)
