I play the 5.7 F4u a lot and it feels like the cannons are good again. Granted I only play it in custom battles with friends because it’s at a terrible br, but still they feel good to use again
@@jaydenlee3091 I’m talking about the planes at it’s br. It can fight them but it never gets the chance because the entire enemy team is usually all ju-288s
Something else I’ve noticed is the F-5E/F-5C is a much ‘colder’ aircraft than a lot of other aircraft at their BR. What that means is, unless I’m using an AiM-9L or something with a sensitive seeker, I have to close to within 2km to use a missile, where if it was a MiG-21 I’d be able to shoot within 3-4km. Even if the F-5 is using afterburner.
You see a lot of Kfir, Milan and premium jets bombing and dieing \ running to enemy base because all of them are bots. Bot is huge in the game and will actually kill it in the long run if not addressed. For ARB at that BR, there are 3 to 6 bots every match PER TEAM.
Indeed. It's even worse in naval. Either Gaijin pulls their head out of their asses and starts a crusade against bots, however difficult it may be, or the game will suffer for it...
@@hydrovacattack6269 They boost your K\D at the price of economy. Don't know what you do with your K/D honestly, and you also know that they are not players so you cannot even feel good about it.
@@OzzyTheWild It doesn't matter, it destroys the economy. Before we had RP and SLs for passive actions, being alive on point, near enemies, landing and taking off without time limiters. The rewards of kills\assists\captures are now CAPPED as well. The Medals gave more points, all of those got lowered substantially because (or with the excuse) of botting. The game is balanced on statistics, and 300.000 bots every day do a huge dent on the statistics of the game. And we don't even talk about the "feeling" side of things, when you pop out a 500% RP\SL boostersd and you spawn only to see that half your team is a bot 2S38 staying in base waiting to lock on the first helicopter\plane that pops out (Just to get bombed and killed because high tier CAS is done from way more than only 2.5km) For the same action, now you are getting extremly less compared to what it was, because (or with the excuse) of botting. But hey, as long as you got your dopamine because you see a "Target Destroyed" against a macro that needs to go from point a to point B and press space.
Tip in the F5E and F5C from personal experience, I've never had to drop afterburner to flare a missile, it feels like the engines are colder than the game says they are

i love this plane especially when i was grinding the f16. only thing i had to get used to was decelerating enough to get rid of the mach cone during dogfights/any interaction.
You should try climbing at 20 degrees in the F5E. If you do, most of the time you end up above everyone else, and from there you can clean house pretty well. Since it's 10.7 you also don't have to worry much about pulse dopler SARHs or much of any radar missiles beyond the occasional R3Rs.
would not recommend unless you get a down tier, those f4e with sparrows will bully you at high altitudes. and for some reason all the 11.3 games have america on both teams so you will be fighting phantoms (or worse, looking at you f14a at 11.7).
@@nicks1221 I dont stay at high altitude and countering sparrows and dodging fights up there is easy. From there I go down and drop in behind enemies I know are flareless or not paying attention and they will get a 9J up their ass. I do this strat every game and I never die up top. and almost never run into F4Es. Anything you pass up there you just fly straight and they will either ignore you, or bleed all of their speed trying to turn.
@@nicks1221 i do it all the time and the only active fox1 threat up there are r3r from mig21 that prey on clueless folk. maybe if you climb towards the enemy climbing path you'd get fucked by them, but you're pretty much safe against anything that you can't see if you climb to your team climbpath
this thing is damn good. i carry the 30 mil gunpod just because it can, and 2 agm's for blind frogfoots or the bot harriers. Yall should try it. just fly from your right base towards the enemy airfield and you can headon lock at least 2 ppl
Tbh 20s bit OS'ing every time is something i'm strating to really like, it feels like the damage models are starting to actually matter, and truthfully it's not like a single 20mm burst is gonna OS it's target IRL either, heck 20s not being reliable enough is the whole idea behind somenations opting for the 30s :/
you haven't played the Draken yet and yes even if it got no flares, it's faster than a F104S so you are going to outpace most missiles, and since it now retains more energy than the MiG19 (bullshit, but J35A sold well) it will even be able to slowly zig zag to deplete the missile's speed
Had my best air rb game ever yesterday in the f5e, 9 players kills, 6 of those kills were when i was the last one left... It wont surprise anyone to know that i did still lose that game because I ran out of fuel dogfighting the last 2 enemies. Heartbreaker
The poor little premium kids were getting annihilated on their little Su-25s, A-10s and A-6s...so good, merciful Gayjin nerfed the missiles resistance to flares. That didn't work, so they nerfed the missiles range. That didn't work, because guns still existed. So they nerfed gun ballistics. That also didn't work, so they nerfed gun damage. Which also didn't work. Next step is making guns susceptible to flares...

@@MrKamper_ lmao true, i remember shooting 130~ 30mm HE shells into an SU25, oh and it also loves living thru missiles, oh and ive lived thru a gepard and a sidam both shooting me for a solid 10 seconds and killed the gepard, to say the SU25 doesnt have a broken damage shows you only main russia
I barely understand props after 3 years. I simply don't have a clue on jet combat and all my kills are luck. Any general tips from you all would be great.
yoo indonesian air force skin let's gooo. also yeah, the guns on F-5 are weird to aim like to the point i can barely score hits on targets flying straight and and can only hit if i'm doing leading shots. they are definitely an upgrade to when i first use F-5 tho, the guns used to be literal peashooter and you'd never get any instant kills with it. you used to have to wait for the enemy to crash from aerodynamic faliure
I just started playing War Thunder and am currently on the F4 in rank 2 and p400 and do not know which route to take any advice on whether i should take the f14 or f16, I'm aware I would also get the f5e if I do go towards the f16 route so I'm not sure because of the iconic tomcat.
people talk about weird planes bombing, I saw a Yak-141 bombing. the guy's stats were 2500+ games in the USS Helena with 1500 ish kills and 12 or so top tier premiums and half a dozen top jets all with 0 kills and hundreds of matches... seems like normal human behaviour
The cannons are good, though they're no Head-on sniper rifles. It's better to play Rugby with the F5E's maneuverability, then turn on the enemy(s) once you're past. #Maneuverability Gang
I have always thought the high tier U.S. HE rounds have been dogwater, so I stay away from them as much as possible. I was using the universal belts (2x API, 1X HE) with the F-5E and it felt NUCLEAR! Things were just melting in front of me.
Video on f5a? Im going to grind it after i finish the ptz89 and need a cas jet with my ztz99-II, a5c is good but no smart munitions and my potato pc has a hard time rendering tanks, planes and especially helis even at close range
"why are so many people bombing in kfirs?" Cause even with a full bombload that thing is fast enough to nearly gaurentee that you are 1st to the bases, so consistent points for grinding.
The Chinese F-5A is so sad in comparison. Same BR, same missiles, actually more flares/chaff, but it's the 5A, so at 10.7 and facing the US's 5A/C and E every game, it's pain. Was trying to fly it recently but I'd literally rather fly one of the flare-less 10.7 F-104's. At least that has speed and more missiles. And the Chinese 5E is also literally 10.7 so there's absolutely zero reason to play the Chinese F-5A anyway.
