The Facebook Clown That Threatened A School: The Terrifying Tale of Flomo Klown 

It's insane just how much the online landscape has changed in just 5 years. The internet in the mid 2010s feels like an alternate reality at this point.

Having lived in the South for some time, I've learned that the people in this region do not scare easily. "You step on my grass, Ima put somethin in yo butt" may just be my favorite quote now.

I know a clown IRL, she's a total sweetheart who babysat me and taught me to contact juggle. She is in a troupe but mostly goes to children's hospital to entertain kids. She had to tone down her makeup after 2016 (mostly just glitter and confetti freckles and stuff), but it's good to know at least a couple professional clowns are still working

*The really sad part is the legitimate clowns who lost business because of the terror these creeps caused.* The fact a grown woman was involved with this is just disturbing on many levels.

It would have been great if another group started dressing up as mimes to defend the town from the clowns.

My mom is absolutely terrified of clowns. So when all this was going on, even though we lived in a small town with no clown sightings even close to us, she was still so anxious going out at night. I felt so bad for her.

I remember feeling really bad for actual party and circus clowns because of this event. It really hurt the clowning industry.

2016 was a wild yet memorable time

Closer to 2016 actually, a girl at my school got criminally charged for this , rightfully so. She was decently popular actually and had a lot of friends it seemed and very confident. I think she was a year above me. Anyway she made a fake Twitter and messaged her friend as a “clown” saying they were going to shoot up the school that week. Supposedly it was supposed to just scare her friend which she sent it to, but the friend sent it to the whole school and everyone was freaking out not wanting to come to school . I remember being a bit skeptical but still scared. Not soon after , it was found out she (we will Call her R , the girl who made the fake Twitter account .) was found to be the one who made the account. She got taken out of school and not exactly sure what happened . She was 16 so not sure exactly what they did. Anyways, she did eventually come back to school a while later. It was really strange to see how different she was after that incident. She went from popular and confident, to bullied and didn’t like talking to anyone . idk that anyone would Read this but wow it was just crazy to see how choosing to do things like that change a persons life so drastically

Watching clowns get rocked by people who had a violent fear response was my favorite part of 2016.

I actually went to a school named "Semmes Middle School" back then, and one of these clowns threatened our school, causing us to close down for a little bit. Lots of parents were scared, and a teacher of mine started carrying a gun. Quite an interesting time.

I was working a Halloween event at a family amusement park in 2016 and I remember that clown costumes were banned, and I felt it was ridiculous at first but I live in an open-carry state and people were "clown hunting" in my city that night so my job was not taking any chances 🤦🏻‍♀️ it gave me "tales from the hood" vibes

The clown craze was definitely a very memorable phase back in 2016. Believe it or not, we actually spotted a clown near my school during my 8th grade year in PE. We were doing a 1 mile run and according to some of the kids, the clown was just standing there in the alley eating a bowl of chili. A pretty odd yet innocent clown sighting.

I was a cop during this time. We got a call to a rural back road for an assault. A guy tried to scare the wrong troup of people and he was beaten with a chain or something of the sort. Never found out who beat him, but he was pretty roughed up.

This reminded of the story of the first "Killer Clown" sighting in the Philippines. Dude wanted to start the trend, dressed up as a clown and recorded himself doing it. He got his ass kicked by the first people he tried to scare, a bunch of street kids who were huffing solvent.

I remember when this happened. Literally the viralness of it is what made it so dangerous. You just knew the wrong people would get involved

On Halloween when I was little, a guy followed me in a clown costume. It was genuinely upsetting because he followed me for blocks. At that point I wasn't scared of the clown, I was scared of getting kidnapped. There's a difference between being fun halloween scary and stalker pedophile scary.

It's weird thinking of the reaction to these people if they weren't wearing the clown costumes. Like imagine regular people on-mass stalking, luring children into the woods, chasing 12 year olds, looking into house windows, and threatening children.

I remember when this was going on. It happened in my country too. where I live it's common for children to go to a playground on their own. nothing ever happens. But I remember when I was sitting at home and my nephew who was around 8 or 9 at the time called me, terrified that some killer clown keeps threatening them and keeps walking up to them on the playground. He was the oldest in the group and looked over everyone (therefore he already had a phone) and the youngest was around 3 or 4. I live a few villages away from them, about 7 minutes by car. immediately got into my car bc the parents were all at work so the kids wouldn't be all alone. you never know with those freaks.

As a young guy living in green bay my whole life Ill say this, EVERYONE knew about gags but thought at first he was an actual crazy clown. I even remember seeing him once going down the fox river trail at night. He was just staring menacingly but not at people. Then most learned it was for a film and he just has some fun with the character.

We were having a family Turkish bbq at my uncles ranch, and in the late night around 4 or 5 clowns started lingering around the front. My uncle was fed up with them and said to his brothers, ‘follow me’ They walked over to the gun shed and pulled out a shotgun each, then they ran to the clowns and started shooting into the air, and the teens ran off shouting ‘FUCK FUCK FUCK!’. I just thought you guys would like this story as it shows how fun it is to turn the tables on the people who deserve it.

I actually adore clowns and always have, I collect clown plushies, so this whole trend upset me because it directly impacted the careers of people who work as clowns. They're supposed to be about making children laugh and covering up mistakes in circuses.

When this was popular, I’m certain I almost ran into one of these clowns. Me and a friend were walking around this trail back home, when I thought I heard footsteps behind us. I told him and he said it was nothing or some animal. A few minutes later, we both here a laughter that sounded like a clown, we looked at each other and booked it back home. It was a public trail for everyone to walk around, but still, it was creepy as shit.

As someone who has been a huge fan of clowns growing up, this whole fad really sucked. Seeing so many people terrified of something you only have fond memories of, sucks. I was so pissed that year that I couldn't wear my clown suit and makeup, because id have been grouped in with these losers. Btw, much love from Alabama , wavy!

Great professionally done content, per usual. There are several stories of normal decent folks putting these crazies to floor. Anyone who throws fear, threats, and crazy to good folks (especially our young!) will be dealt with accordingly. Notify authorities and grab footage if you see these jokers indirectly threatening others. Each state is different and depending on the nature of the incident threating someone will throw you in prison (felony in some cases!). Have fun behind bars. A quick Google search of your states laws will let you know. Moreover, always be vigilant and stand your ground against these types. If you ever see another person in some kind of danger from crazy or witness this garbage in any kind of light, call authories Immediately. Remove the person who is affected as best you can and do what you have to. Document as much as you can. This is a great topic in the sense there is an over arching message here. We need to always stay vigilant when we move through life. It is tough. We all want to assume folks have the best interest of the folks around them at heart, but sickos exist.

I always found this hilarious. The more elaborate and "creepy" they try and make the clowns look the less they seem actually scary and are just the result of somebody doing hours of arts and crafts... WoooOooOooO scary! 🤣

Reminds me of some funny times, there was quite a few ppl dressing up as clowns in my area and they definitely picked the wrong area, majority of idiots dressed as clowns trying to scare ppl got the oppose of the response they wanted, either held at gunpoint until cops came or they picked someone on the wrong day😂

When all this killer clown shit was going down, my school decided to heighten security and the town told people to not dress up as clowns. It was very funny the way my town handled these pranksters.

In 2016 I was working at a local chain restaurant. On Halloween me and one cook are the only ones there from 12 am until 7 am. The bar rush that night was insane, but there was a scary Clown outside, knocking on all the windows and threatening customers with his (obviously) plastic axe. Even though he was "just having fun" which was obvious enough, my customers were too scared to leave the restaurant so I had to go and kick him off property. Any other year I think it would've been fine but with all the news and everything people were terrified

Speaking of clowns, there was this clown that was in Mexico but he was a friendly dude. I’ve seen him in a Mexican talent show multiple times before. He’s actually very cool.

I actually drove around with some friends when this happened and we went “clown hunting”. Really it was just us parking at different spots, walking around with knives, and getting the police called on us.

My high-school went into a soft lock down because in the forest preserve across the street there were a couple of people walking around dressed as clowns lmfao

I remember they threatened my high school and said they were going to act when the kids leave school. There was a massive police presence that day. It was just some kids trying to capitalize on the hysteria for some laughs. My buddy had what looked like a full grown man in a clown getup stand in his yard and stare at him through his window and he FaceTimed me when he saw him. I actually liked these times because it was around Halloween these things started happening and it added to the atmosphere

i was in a middle school called "creighton middle school" in lakewood, colorado. and same thing happend over there, somebody threatened to shoot the school as a clown during this time. and that day moms didnt even let their kids go to school. but the parent who didn't know about it sent us anyways, understandably. and when we got to the school there was already swat in the front when we went in. and everybody imminently got evacuated in to a near by church, which was down a street in the recess field. and waited. but fortunately nothing happened to our school. but i don't think any of the kids in the school were close to scared. cause it's a hard to be at school so kids were chillin.

I was a junior in high school when the clown thing happened. Similar to what the video describes, a clown made a FB page and would threaten to come to schools in our district, followed by him showing up and terrorising students with knives (allegedly). We had heard about our rival school having a clown sighting and that we were supposedly next according to one of his posts. A lot of students stayed home and the school was debating on closing but they stayed open anyway. Well, the clown showed up at my school near the bus loading area and he got jumped by a large group of students. He got the living crap beat out of him by some of our biggest athletes. I think he got away but we were the last school he visited 😂

During the clown shit in 2016, me and one of my friends at the time went to another town with some girls we met on Facebook just to drive around and kind of explore a new area since we lived in a small town. We ended up getting lost down some backroads and came to this area where it was a dirt road with these concrete walls on either side. I pulled over to pull up Google maps to find out how to get back into town, and this old red Chevy blazer comes down the road going like 90 and they stopped next to my car and it was full of dudes in clown suits waving actual machetes out the windows and shrieking and howling. I just fucking floored it and they chased us and got up beside us threatening us whenever the road was wide enough. One of the girls called the cops and told them what was happening but they thought it was bullshit and told us prank calling 911 was illegal and how the cops had better things to do than deal with killer clown pranks. Once we got back to the highway they turned back around and slowly cruised back down the way they came. I'm not sure if they would have actually hurt us or not but it's one of the most terrifying things I've ever experienced.

I remember that year. I was pregnant with my youngest child, and I heard about a clown that got arrested just a street away. He was armed with an axe. This isn't even in the USA either. It was about 20 minutes away from Montreal (canada).

Omg i remember this, so i live in SC and during this time i was only in elementary school, but it was horrifying. I never really thought about it till I saw this video, as a kid of course I was scared of this but while the trend died down and I grew up I forgot about the whole thing. I am just realizing how dark that summer was, my mom sat me and my brother down to talk about these prankster clowns, for context me and my brother aren’t scared of clowns cause we grew up near circuses in Texas, so clowns were pretty normal to us. She basically told us how under no circumstances to go near one and if I saw something out in the woods, I remember bits and pieces but I think I remember a case where someone ran over a clown, that’s when people stop dressing up around in our small town

The age of social media is so wild. If I had told my mom as a kid that a clown tried to get me to go into the woods or chased me through the woods she would have laughed.

I remember when this was happening- I was an RA at my college and my residents were all suddenly rushing out the doors in sweats and with flashlights and their axe handles (we were the Lumberjacks and we were given ones to decorate each year) to go “clown hunting.” Obviously I did not follow them into battle, and as far as I know I think the campus cops had to basically stalk the “hunters” so they didn’t brain someone with the axe handles.
