I always loved how right before this Zeke was so calm and composed and tries to uphold his tolerance to the drug but eventually bust out laughing his ass off after the "Yeah, and I'm Portuguese, who cares?" Comment 😂😂
I love this scene so much. The misdirection is awesome, right down to the eyebrow life at 1:12, telling her when to go, giving her the distraction she needed.
The parasites working in her are smart too, after being attacked she destroyed the entire table of what I assume are ingredients to make the drug in order to fight back. Therefore try and destroy any methods of fighting back. Correct me if I’m wrong
I love this movie so much. So many callbacks to the real classics. The idea that you don't know who is infected and who isn't was pretty creepy. Even members of their group could be an alien. The paranoia made it creepier. A lot like The Thing as someone else pointed out in the comments.
She's the only one that's still relevant today. Josh was the next big thing but he hasn't done anything big for a while. Elijah has the Rings franchise but that was a while ago. The last thing I saw Clea Duvall in was in Heroes (2006). And for Laura Harris and Shawn Hatosy, I haven't seen them for a long time.
Yea I just noticed that this time too. I have to wonder though why at first Delilah was all "her first, make her take it" when it's the queen. Also I noticed when Mary Beth takes hers, though the tube is empty, the base of the pen (and even the pen lid) are on the bottom of the pen. So that excuse she unscrewed the pen and emptied it out is not true in terms of continuity.
It COULD'VE happened during the struggle with Mr. Furlong. There was a brief shot when the severed fingers crawl on her and that must've been when she got infected.
That's what I always think. I always struggle to think of when she was infected, it must have been then either by the crawling bugs or even by Mary Beth (who is behind her and pretending to 'save' her from the bugs in that scene).
Yeah, when they were all fighting Furlong, Mary Beth grabbed Delilah and did the deed behind the table. Perfect cover. In all the commotion, no one heard their little tussle. Of course Mary Beth had the upper hand and Delilah ended up infected.
Funny how the queen still had her blue cap at the bottom after supposedly snorting the drug. But when confessing to Zeke she was queen they showed her pinky turning into the alien figure and removing the cap.
"We kinda forgot about that." More seriously, it would have been awesome if Marybeth's revelation made any first time watcher rewind to this very moment to check how accurate the initial scene was.
I saw maybe ten minutes of this movie fifteen years ago and it’s been living in my head rent free until I just googled the vague plot points that I remembered in an adhd fueled fervor and finally found it
Even the aliens think more and make better decisions than us in horror movies. Instead of standing in the line of fire saying the clique line... “Please don’t shoot!” The alien thought quickly and sprung into defence. Jeez, what’s more; the aliens managed to act THAT quickly in a large humanoid body!
What I find incredibly interesting about this movie is that the main characters are highly and obviously inspired by the characters in "The Breakfast Club" movie. The prep/"pretty girl": Claire/Delilah The nerd: Brian/Casey The goth: Allison/Stokely The athlete: Andrew/Stan The rebel/bad boy: John (Bender)/Zeke Mary Beth being an outcast in the group in the faculty was a major sign that she was the ring leader of it all.
No one else noticed the mess up in the scene ? When Marybeth takes the pen from Zeeks hand the cap is still in Zekes hand then in the next shot the cap is back on the pen.

I think it'd be dope to do a Netflix limited series remake with like six 45 minute episodes but PLEASE get the right actors for the roles. I often hate how they cast teenage actors these days.
