Golb in the original show was kind’ve a dumb baby prior to Betty fusing with him, and making him smarter, so he’d probably not even react to the Lich at all, probably just ignoring him and letting the Lich rant and rave. Something I must correct though is that Fionna and Cake takes place before distant lands and since the Lich is a hivemind of sorts, Lich did reappear after his defeat at the hands of Golbetty and reappeared in Together Again.
Nice video! I only watched adventure time as a kid and never continued to the parts it became so good in so recently watching videos about it shocks me. I also see a lot of lovecraftian inpirations in Golb, specifically Azathoth the blind idiot god, he's a god who like most of lovecraft's gods can't even think, and even though people and even gods worship him that means nothing, and Azatoth himself when awakened only floats around in space eating everything he comes across, but that's just a connection i saw here
Yes! It definitely based off Azathoth. I love GOLB’s inclusion in the story because of that. Lovecraftian horror is so out there, including it in Adventure Time fits the chaos of the show.
Still wish they made use of the Lich hands that were Duplicated across the multiverse. Even the hand in the dead world said he succeeded in many worlds, the hands being seemingly smarter than the OG lich as Sweet Pea or LichWish world. Thought bigger, wanting to end life in ALL worlds, not just one world. Could have been a reason for Simon to wear the crown aside from Fionna and Cake. Like lets say the lich hands that succeeded managed to leave their dimensions and come together to become a singular entity again. Said Lich Amalgam could notice BettyGolb was not HIS Golb and manages to break her control of Golb resulting in Betty being killed and erased by a newly freed Golb. Causing Simon to truly BREAK, since Betty would never be reunited with him. Can no longer be reincarnated, will never see her in the death worlds, etc. Resulting in him being SO mad that his emotions override the Crown's madness. Maybe have the ghost of evergreen or even a mental imprint of him talking to Simon and explaining why he actually told Gunther about the wish. That the crown grants the wish asked by the wearer AS they put it on, where the previous wish is set as default if the wearer doesn't. Simon got corrupted because he DIDN'T make a wish while putting it on.
wasted character. adventure time was a mid show and the fact they went with some love is power crap is beyond sad. Fin being the imbodiement of good and lich being imbodiement of evil had a lot potential to become a great writing point and even the spine of a whole story but the damn glob character, muilitverse crap and other wrothless arcs ruined the chance the show had.
