Hello and welcome to The Void Theatre. The place to discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of all things animation and all the things that go into making them work. My name is alexander and I hope you enjoy your stay in my theatre
When American dad left the politics I loved it more mainly because I was 9 when i first saw it and did not really understand it. But unlike family guy I find American dad gets funnier as the characters get more unhinged. Rodger is wayyy more interesting than Brian.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there's only one other Boomhuer episode and its the one where he almost marries this jogger woman that Bill had a crush on first
I'm mixed about rogu. One side of me says that he's completely adorable and deserves every inch of attention from the smiths, whereas the other side says that he's ugly and pointless. I can agree that it is refreshing to see a new charecter in the show I can't lie and atleast I can say that I can tolerate rogu better then scrappy doo
I love the stupid little thing, I loved when Rogu, Stan and, Jeff were playing the Alamo. That shit was was great. He doesn't appear enough for him to be annoying.
Top Steve moments, whenever Steve sings, The episode when Dr. Weismann Kidnapped them and Steve was like “Jeff is not like Funny stupid, I think Haley might be committing a crime married to him, we should get a Lawyer.!” When they were going to lose him to Child authorities! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥹🥲
IMO, i grew up watching family guy and absolutely loved the earlier series, and same goes for american dad they are both great family guy being a little bit better, and as for south park and rick and morty i think there abit daft, like cringey and the characters are too forgetable
I'm gonna say this here: Aspiring writers, ESPECIALLY comedians: When you're writing, write jokes for the characters, not Characters for the jokes. Your show WILL be better if you focus on keeping your characters writing clear and consistent. That is the single greatest problem with modern Simpsons and Family Guy both. Any time you tell an out-of-character joke, that will impact the perception of that character, by your audience and eventually yourself.
@5:19 Klaus is neither a pet or hated character(a lot of people like Klaus, he is the only one with common sense)on American Dad Klaus is nothing but a prisoner of the Smith’s
To me, the reason people prefer Roger as the show douche over Brian is probably because Brian is the straight man of the Griffin family, he's the one who helps the other characters when they f*ck up, but most of the time, he's usually doing whatever he wants for selfish reasons. Roger on the other hand, is an alien that crash landed on a planet with life inferior to him in almost every way, so he'd take advantage of it to benefit himself. (Also his species needs to be @$$holes to survive.)
Loren Bouchard has a tweet saying that they started to tone the show down because they realized how much of the audience were kids. The show was always very tame compared to other shows like South Park or Family Guy, but all you have to do is watch any recent episode and then the pilot to see how much it’s changed. Bob tells Gene to give a pedophile his order and assures him he won’t get molested because he’s “heavy”, and Louise straight up calls Tina autistic lmao
It sucked. Felt like adult swim execs told the writers "Do the rick and morty thing". Yeah it had a few funny moments but overall baaad. Imagine how much funnier it would have been if the big fight with the mooninites didn't actually happen they just shit talked each other awkwardly. Does not feel like the same series.
I like the direction they took with Roger, but at the same time I feel like every single episode anymore has to do with a persona of his. Grinch Christmas episode is one of the few exceptions I can think of in the last few seasons, other than I feel like it’s been a while since I brought up that he’s an alien. Last I saw was the Scooby-Doo one, so I might have some catching up to do.
