Here is some RARE rehearsal footage of the Fairfield Four. The group begins rehearsal with "Pass Me Not" and prayer. Later they work out the details on the late Rev. W.L. Richardson's song "Today". They group preforms that song afterward.
So great seeing the original lead singer, late GREAT Sam McCrary, and Reverend Richardson and James Hill! The Fairfield Four and The Skylarks members kept the great tradition alive today. Bass singer Dickie Freeman is also in a class of his own. All real gentlemen and it's always been a great pleasure of mine talking to and hearing this pheonominal group!
I always enjoy listening to the Fairfield Four, but the highlight to me is the bass, Mr. Freeman. I love to hear him sing, I was to sorry to learn of his passing. RU-vid has provided a means to insure that he nor the Fairfield Four will never be forgotten. May God bless and keep the Fairfield Four!
Just stumbled on this great video. After hearing that great bass note of Mr. Freeman's at the 18 second mark, I knew I'd heard it somewhere else before. Sure enough, after a quick check on the IMDB website it seems two of these fine gentlemen appeared in the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou? " with George Clooney. Just goes to prove, you a GREAT bass like that ... You don't forget it any time soon.
Pass Me not is not on any of their CDs but the song they are working on "Today" is on their Grammy winning 1998 CD called "I Couldn't Hear Nobody Pray". It's called "Help for the Needy" (Today).
please bring this back!!!! i mean tye tribbett and mary mary... they aight... but groups like these used to bring down the holy spirit something serious. They didn't have auto tune, or anything. Just saying.
There are plenty of vids on youtube debating which gospel singers are the best basses, and you never see Issac Freeman on any of them. And he could take on anybody easily with few singers that can beat him.
WELL HERE'S MY COMMENT. ALL THESE NEW CHOIRS AND GOSPEL GROUP OUR HERE CLAIMING TO SING GOSPEL MUSIC, YOU CAN'T SMELL A BASE SINGER LET-A-LONE HERE ONE. CAUSE ALL THE GUYS SOULDS LIKE WOMEN AND AIN'T IT A SHAME THAT THE DAYS OF THE GOOD OLD BASE SINGERS ARE BUT GONE. IT'S SICKNING.
