I was so overwhelmed with excitement and confusion at the same time when I got it. Now that I’ve got emulation figured out I feel complete. Still working on getting the ps3 and Xbox 360 working on it but anything prior I can get easily to run. Cheers on joining the fam

I know how you feel, It was the same for me. I haven't done much emulation yet since my back log is out of control with no end in sight. But I'm happy to hear you've got it figured out

@@PetersNerdCave thank you for the response I love your editing style and tips you had in the vid it helped me out big time. I never had steam before I got my deck so it was either figure emulation out or drop another couple hundred on games which wasn’t a viable option lol so I got a couple cheap games and went the emulation route and by god let me tell you it was worth it! It took me a few days after work of tinkering around with it to get it all set up but it runs like a dream and the file size being so tiny helps a bunch with the 64gb edition.

I had a lot of luck getting ps3 games to work. But it requires a lot of tweaking for each individual game.

Thank man, I would definitely recommend the SD in any form. I use it in conjunction with my consoles and PC, especially cross-play between PC and SD (and in some cases consoles) is really cool.

Bought mine in last march second hand and I have been thinking of using plugins, but I am still waiting for a sale on 2TB SSD to upgrade from 512gb to 2TB Thank you for the amazing video well explained and very fast tips that didn’t make me feel I spent much time to learn all this

I ordered a dock with a m.2 slot. So I can add a 4tb while docked I also got a 1tb ssd installed.

I just wanted to add my 5 cents to the fourth tip regarding the overlay. I would recommend to not focus too much on it, maybe just use it at the beginning when you have to tweak the performance of the game (if you really have to) and after that just turn it off. As a PC player, you tend (at least for me) to focus too much on the fps and trying to get the max fps that you can get, and just looking at that numer and sometimes seeing drops in the overlay just bothered me. So in general gaming feels a lot better for me on the steam deck when I don't focus that much on the fps on the overlay. Otherwise I don't notice framedrops because I actually feel it during gaming, but because of the overlay. But this is of course just a personal opinion, if you don't have this problems and are just curious about your fps and don't get disturbed by it, of course you can just always leave it on.

I actually totally agree. I've been turning it off more and more. Even overlay 1 with just the FPS can be distracting when you just want to play a game. For making video's It's very useful though.

I got a steam deck LCD ver, there is no slider for refresh rate, on the current version of the software (as of may 25th 2024).

I've heard of the 45 minute battery games but never come across one I get well over an hour and a half for the most intensive games and nearly 8 hours with switch emulation. Any ideas about what games actually get less than an hour I'd like to see it for myself. Ps great vid clear and concise.. subbed

Thanks for the Sub, I appreciate the nice comment. As for the games I believe both Starfield and Cyberpunk tax my SD pretty heavily. Maybe I exaggerated a little with the 45 mins and it leans more towards an hour - hour and a half.
