The Fall Of An NFL Legend: How Aaron Rodgers Failed To Win Another Super Bowl…

Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest players in NFL history who has accomplished it all, but why did he only win a single super bowl? Well, in this video we go over every year during Aaron Rodgers' tenure with the Gren Bay Packers to discover once and for all, how Aaron Rodgers left the packer only winning one super bowl and failed to fulfill his true potential. Anyway, if you enjoyed this video at all then like and comment if you want, and you can even subscribe if you think I've earned it.
How did Tom Grossi find out what happened to NFL players like Aaron Rodgers? The super bowl 45 victory where the Green Bay Packers won without Davatnae Adams was great, but without Barry McCockiner and Urinatingtree harnessing the power of the forbidden amulet, we're running out of time. I've called upon the power of thatsgoodsports and football analysis, but I'm afraid it won't be enough to contain NFL news.

I think that the Jets winning a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers is more likely than picking Nick Fowles to win a Super Bowl MVP in the 2016 offseason. TL:DR anything can happen especially when considering the NFL scriptwriters. Love your content! Keep it up 👍

People really fail to understand how hard it is to even win one Super Bowl, let alone multiple. Because of the anomaly that happened with Brady winning 7 people are instead claiming that X team wasted Y’s career because they “only” won 1-2 Super Bowls. Take Brady out of the equation and you only have 12 players in the 57 year history of the Super Bowl that have won it multiple times. That’s 12 out of *thousands* if not tens of thousands of quarterbacks that have played since 1966, that’s a percent of a percent. Many greats have “only” won a single Super Bowl or none at all.

Look at Peyton Manning’s early playoff record. John elway back in the day used to get crushed in super bowls. We don’t consider Aaron an all time great just because he can win super bowls. Dan marino went to one and never got back. We consider him an all time great because he can win games on any given Sunday, carry a team in crisis, win the division consistently, and get you to the postseason. And Aaron has does all of that. He has the second most MVPs for a reason.
@bananaman5668
@bananaman5668 9 месяцев назад
That may be true for him being a top 10 QB ever but everything you just said is that QBs biggest criticism and the thing that holds them back from being considered the goat. And since rodgers is hailed as the MOAT (most talented of all time) it’s a valid point to bring up why he didn’t end up becoming the GOAT. Because if your the most talented ever and you inherited a great team people will expect you to become the goat and win more superbowls. It’s only natural. Nobody says Montana and Bradshaw are on the level but nobody says Bradshaw didn’t deserve to go in first ballot either so it’s not like he was considered very far behind. Super Bowl rings are not important for determining a QBs greatness but they are important to factor in nonetheless.
@savagegamer81013
@savagegamer81013 9 месяцев назад
@@bananaman5668 true. I just find it stupid when people just blindly go “oh we’ll have the conversation when he gets to 3 or 4 rings.” As if Tom Brady (no offense) didn’t have an all time defense led by an all time coach. And as of Tom Brady didn’t have a 10 year gap between his third and fourth rings.

@@GuidoLuzzi Actually they do. But because they read more than just who has more tds or a higher passer rating they actually know who played better because they actually watched them play and were able to understand the “context” of those stats. Rodgers is great. But you only pretend stats are perfectly accurate whenever it involves him having good ones and Brady having bad ones. You don’t need passer rating or superbowls to call Rodgers great.
@tropicmix8765
@tropicmix8765 9 месяцев назад
@@bananaman5668that's the problem. Aaron didn't get that great team. Green Bay for most of his career were horrible at running back, and embarrassingly bad at the corner position because their GM is cheap. Aaron didn't walk into a top 10 defense and a solid core like these other guys did. Mahomes had Tyreek, Kelce, Chris Jones. Montana had Rice, Ronnie Lott. Brady had Moss, Edelman, Gronk, Donta Hightower, the greatest kicker ever. Manning had Welker, Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Von Miller. These dudes had legitimate hall of fame help. Aaron didn't, so it's people who are casuals who underrated Aaron Rodgers. By the time Green Bay finally got a defense they had no receivers. Green Bay in 2010 was great and obviously thats why they won, but in the next 3-4 years their defense absolutely fell apart. Their defense allowed 37 POINTS A GAME in their losses. That's over 5 touchdowns. It's ridiculous to expect someone to drop 3-400 yards and 4 touchdowns along with opening up the run game to win games when Brady at points was dropping 175-225 yards and 1 touchdown, and winning the game.

Packers Playoff losses in the Rodgers era ranked by most heartbreaking: 1. 2014 NFC Championship vs Seahawks This one takes the cake, no contest. Rodgers was the MVP that year, and the the defense picked of Wilson FOUR TIMES. And then the onside kick happens and they blow a game that they were nearly guaranteed to win, with a chance to go back to the Super Bowl. I also think this loss had a truly cursed feeling and had a ripple effect that culminated in several disappointing seasons after. 2. 2020 NFC Championship vs Bucs This was probably the best all around team the Packers had after 2010, Rodgers put up one of the best seasons ever, and just when the NFC looked wide open with Brees looking washed, the 49ers and Rams riddled with injuries, and the Seahawks suffering an embarrassing upset, Brady walks into the NFC and in his FIRST YEAR, goes to Lambeau and beats them, winning as many NFC Championships as the Packers did in the entire Rodgers era. 3. 2011 Divisional Round vs Giants This could’ve been higher but those Giants teams were something special. This might’ve been the best team in totality, but their defense was horrendous, the 2010, 2020, and 2021 teams were all more balanced. However the receiving corps and offensive weapons on this team were ridiculous, Rodgers had maybe the best QB season ever (I disagree but it has a case). 15-1 and lost their first Playoff game. 4. 2021 Divisional Round vs 49ers Their last chance, the defense played close to perfect, but Rodgers couldn’t get more than 10 points, and the special teams have a punt and FG blocked, as well as only having 10 guys to contest the game winning FG. 5. 2012 Divisional Round vs 49ers Kaepernick set the all time record for rush yards by a QB in a game, this was a demolition job back when the Packers were still viewed as serious contenders and were favored before the season to win it all. 6. 2016 NFC Championship vs Falcons The Falcons historic passing offense obliterated them, and the Packers offense was shut out in the first half by a terrible defense. Atlanta was clearly better but this was a harsh end to the 8 straight wins that put the red hot Packers in position to return to the Super Bowl. 7. 2019 NFC Championship vs 49ers The Packers had no chance of winning this game and were lucky to be here in the first place. Rodgers had clearly taken a downturn over the previous two seasons and they squeezed out a bunch of one score victories. They were nowhere near the level of the 49ers or Chiefs, and their run defense got completely exposed, as the 49ers run game demolished them while throwing only 8 times. It was over when it was 27-0 at halftime. 8. 2015 Divisional vs Cardinals I guess losing a game where Rodgers throws two Hail Mary’s sucks, but they had no chance this year, the Panthers would’ve demolished them anyway. 9. 2013 Wild Card vs 49ers Once again they didn’t have much of a chance this year either and it was in the Wild Card. 10. 2009 Wild Card vs Cardinals Honestly, this just showed how great Rodgers could be and he hadn’t emerged yet.

I think the defense stuff is overblown. Don’t get me wrong there were certain years where they were awful, but plenty of others where they were decent/good. I mean the defense played nearly flawlessly against the 49ers in 2021 and the offense scored 10 points. In 2020, his stats look fine, but actually watching the game, he did most of that stuff once the game was already out of hand and they were down 28-10, he didn’t do much before then. Yes in the 2016 and 2019 NFC Championship, the defenses were not good in the first half, but guess what? Neither was Rodgers. He was shut out in the first half of both games which is part of why they were down so much. In the 2014 NFC Championship, he wasn’t very good either, and scored 2 total field goals in the second half. The offense did absolutely nothing. As unlucky as the onside kick was, the defense got an interception up 12 with 5 minutes left, Rodgers went 3 and out and immediately gives the ball back to Seattle. Even in the loss to the Giants he didn’t play that well despite some big breaks from the officials early on. Yes the defenses were absolutely at fault some of the years, but Rodgers often had a huge role too.
@simon_carrick8198
@simon_carrick8198 9 месяцев назад
@@goldenstatewarriors9418I would disagree. When talking about Aaron Rodgers playoff losses, there’s 3 ways you can categorize them: Played well, should’ve won (had an average to elite statistical performance, lost due to entirely unique circumstances that by all means never should have happened, for instance missed penalties on a game losing play, dropped interceptions on game losing drives, etc) Didn’t play well, should’ve won (had a below average statistical performance, but despite that lost to entirely unique circumstances that by all means should not have happened) Played well, normally lost (had an average to elite statistical performance, but lost in a regular way, like the defense allowing an incredible amount of points, losing the Overtime coin toss, nothing flukey) Basically, there are games where Rodgers played great and would’ve won if not for flukey circumstances, games where Rodgers played bad but still would’ve won if not for flukey circumstances, and games where Rodgers played great but the team just wasn’t good enough. I’ll go over all the years you pointed out, and which category they belong in. Starting with: Played good, still lost. 2011 Divisional vs New York: Playing against the eventual Super Bowl Champions, Aaron Rodgers individually had a pretty decently good game. His defense absolutely sucked though, allowing a whopping 37 points. Also, his receiving core didn’t help much either, as the Packer’s receivers combined for six (6!) drops, which was actually the most dropped passes of any game in the entire 2011 season. Still, nothing unique really happened in this game, Rodgers’ receivers failed him and the defense sucked which is pretty typical, so I can’t say that Rodgers deserved to win this game. 2016 NFC Championship vs Atlanta Let’s get this out of the way, 44 points allowed on 9 possessions. For reference, that is more points allowed than Tom Brady’s defense has ever in his entire 23 year long career. Allowing 44 points is completely unacceptable. With that out of the way, the first thing people say about Rodgers’ performance is that he was shut out in the first half. The reality is that wasn’t his fault, not many people remember that Rodgers led the Packers into the redzone on both of his first 2 offensive drives of that game. The first ended in a missed field goal by his kicker, and the 2nd was thrown away by a Running back fumbling the ball away in typical Aaron Jones fashion. After the Packer’s 2nd drive, the score very well could’ve been 10-17, but instead it was 17-0, and at this point the pressure was on Rodgers the entire game, hence what some would say as a bad performance. Overall, trying to keep up with the rate at which his defense was allowing scores, whilst also battling your own teammates missing scores and turning over the ball makes this a pretty decisive ‘not his fault’ game. Though even with that being said, nothing really flukey happened, so Rodgers took the L and that was that. 2019 NFC Championship vs San Fran This is probably the most embarrassing loss for the Packers defense in the Rodgers era. The 49ers attempted, not completed, attempted just 8 passes the entire game. The Packers defense could not stop a nosebleed as they allowed nearly 300 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns, allowing a pretty typical Packers defense 37 points. Aaron Rodgers, like in the last two, played decent to good, but couldn’t keep up with his defense. It’s not like something happened to justify that Rodgers should’ve won, but it certainly wasn’t his fault that they didn’t. That’s for that category, other playoff losses that fit here are: 2012 Divisional vs San Fran 2015 Divisional vs Arizona Now, games that Rodgers played bad in, but still should’ve won anyway if not for incredibly flukey moments: 2014 NFC Championship vs Seattle: The Seahawks played an absolutely dreadful early and mid game, but questionable coaching decisions on the packers side lead to many drives stalling within the 15 and settling for field goals instead of TDs. With under 5 minutes left in the game, the Packers were up 19-7. Wilson finally woke up and led a touchdown drive, making the score 19-14 with 2 minutes left in the game. All it would take the Packers to go to the super bowl is 1 onside kick recovery, but then Brandon Bostick happened. Bostick was apparently feeling himself, and attempted to play hero with a jumping catch on the onside, muffed it, and seattle recovered the ball. It only took Seattle 3 plays to score on the Packers defense again, and they converted a 2 pointer to go up 19-22. After touching the ball for the first time since being up 19-7, Rodgers’ led a game tying field goal drive with 1 minute left on the clock to work with, that sent the game into overtime. Rodgers would never touch the ball again as on the first play of OT Wilson would complete a 35 yard touchdown pass to seal the game for Seattle. There were 2 separate instances in this game where the Packers had the ball on the Seattle 1 yard line on 4th and 1, and instead of attemping a TD both were settled for Field Goals. Rodgers did not play good, and his defense for the first 3 quarters gave the offense so many chances to put the game away, regardless of the terrible coaching decisions. But here’s something I notice, Tom Brady has had a lot of really bad playoff performances, where he plays terrible for 3 quarters, but wakes up in the fourth and wins the game, everyone immediately forgets about those terrible 3 quarters, and he’s the hero of the game for winning it when it mattered most. Why don’t we praise Rodgers for doing exactly the same in this game? After coming back onto the field for the first time since being up 19-7, and under a minute on the clock, Aaron Rodgers absolutely clutches the game and saves the team from losing when it mattered most, only to never see the ball again. And of course there’s the biggest culprit, Brandon Bostick’s drop on the kick return that would’ve sealed a super bowl trip. Rodgers did not play good outside of his late game clutch drive, but the Packers deserved, and should’ve went, to the Super Bowl if not for that incredibly flukey onside kick drop. 2021 Divisional vs San Fran Rodgers’ worst performance in a playoff loss ever, and the best performance by the Packers defense in a playoff loss as well. So, why did the Packers deserve to win? What flukey moments happened? Simply put, the special teams killed the team. With a missed field goal that Rodgers & co set up, and an incredibly flukey blocked punt touchdown, the Packers’ special teams cost them 10 points in a game that was decided by 3. Rodgers played horribly, but even then he outperformed the opposing offense! He scored more points than the 49ers did! If not for the Special Team’s blocked punt, the Packers would’ve won regardless of the offensive struggles! Finally, the last category. Games where Rodgers did play good, and the team should’ve won. 2020 NFC Championship vs Tampa Bay. Where to begin with this one. CB Kevin King gave up 14 points single-handedly (including a comically mistimed jump) as well as the season-ending defensive PI call on an overthrown pass by Brady on 3rd down that otherwise would’ve meant a punt back to Green Bay. Despite Brady already throwing 3 interceptions, he also had a dropped 4th interception by Chandon Sullivan on what would become a TD drive. Aaron Jones fumbled twice, the second of which setting up the Buccs with an 8-yard TD drive, with multiple lineman illegally downfield that should have called the play back which was somehow missed, to extend their lead in the 3rd, Davante Adams dropping a game tying TD pass in the 2nd, and Aaron Rodgers’ lone interception came on a play that should’ve been called back on a missed clear defensive holding on Allen Lazard. In a single sentence, this NFC Championship is probably the single worst officiated game of all time, and somehow everyone one of those missed penalties came in extremely crucial moments (all touchdown drives or touchdown plays or turnovers) all went to the Buccaneer’s favor. There is not a game that Rodgers deserved to win more than the 2020 NFC Championship. In total, Rodgers should’ve appeared in 3 super bowl total, this year being one of them. Other playoff losses that fit into this category: 2009 Wildcard vs Arizona 2013 Wildcard vs San Fran

The Packers were terrible at drafting, went a decade with a bottom 15 defense and went 12 years with a bottom 10 (mostly bottom 5) special teams. You can point out the good teammates Rogers had but The Packers failed to build a proper team. No free Agents and no trades to help subsidize for their bad drafting. The packers lacked a league average run defense , they lacked a number 2 CB and had sub-par safties for the better part of the last 12 years after the 2010 title run. Rogers gets some of the blame but really The Packer Way has been a complete failure.

We did finally with TO great catch, but i can't forget how many times Pack sent my Niners packing home. 😅

As someone who's been a Packers fan since '08, I probably hate San Francisco more than any other team. That 2021-22 divisional game still kills me.

49ers fan. Love Rodgers. Like the Packers. Happy to see love play well too. Rodgers got the shaft by playing 49ers in half his playoff loses. He always had to play loaded 49ers teams in playoffs. His teams just didn't have the defense to help him vs them

Here's what happened in every 49ers match up against Rodgers in the playoffs. 1. Kap runs on them 2. a better team beat the Packers. 3. Raheem Mostert runs on the Packers 4. Special Teams.

Tom Brady had 16 and 5 top defenses top defenses in his career while Aaron Rodgers had only 1 top 10 which happened to be the year he won the SB. That’s why Rodgers didn’t win another SB for the packers!

Very interesting to see that the one year they won the Super Bowl, they had a top tier defense which was the best during Aaron’s tenure in GB. Aaron had issues with the front office but the whole time they were trying to improve the defense as that was the weakest link. 2014 loss against the Seahawks should’ve been a win, other than that GB dug there grave in the playoffs with poor mistakes. Regardless, Aaron is great and excited to see what he does with the jets

Really feels like they never really addressed the defense. Just poor patchwork. Looking back, Rodgers would have produced with any receivers. Good o line and good d would have got him more sb. Similar to Brady career, great defense always kept him in games. Except when bellichek screwed Brady intentionally vs eagles. Funny he did that to Brady looking back.

Rodgers can't play defense, and the Packers definitely didn't have the amazing stacked bunch from 2010. It's a shame for sure

The defense handed the Seattle 2014 NFC CG to Rodgers-the offense kicked field goals. Rodgers should have had the packers up by 20 when that onside kick happened.

The Packers organization couldn't be bothered to fix the defense and special teams for over a decade, and they consistently avoided getting weapons for Rodgers. Rodgers had some bad games in the playoffs, but most of our losses came from defensive or special teams collapses.

Surprised you didn't bring up Mcarthy or Rogers complaints about management. Word has it Mcarthy would get massaged instead of going to team meetings. Brett Kholman did a good video a while back showing how Rogers was bailing out Mcarthy's bad coaching.

Mike McCarthy is the Doc Rivers of the NFL. A coach who can raise the floor of a team and got a ring in the ideal circumstances, but cannot rise above that on average and ends up squandering potential. That 2014 NFC title game was his own 3-1 series lead blown.

Brandon Bostick costed Rodgers another super bowl in 2014. Crazy how Green bay never drafted a wide reciever in the first round under Rodgers who needed the most help in that position.

That would be because Aaron was such a prima dona you can't put a team around him due to his salary demands. Aaron is the reason the Packers couldn't sign a top receiver.

Another dumb, blind, and deaf Fraudgers fan who never blames Fraudgers for doing absolutely nothing in that second half but choking the game away while his defense got him 4 WHOLE INTS. Smh, idk who has less accountability, Fraudgers or his dumb fan base?

In NFC Championship Games: Rodgers has a TD/INT ratio of 9:7. However 5 of the 9 TDS occurred when the Packers were trailing by 21 or more-total garbage time. So in meaningful play, Rodgers had 4 touchdowns in 5 NFC CG appearances. Factor in the countless times that Rodgers went 3 and out in critical situations or kicked FGs instead of touchdowns. For those complaining about the defense, the defense handed Rodgers the championship against the Bears, the Seattle game and the 2021 SF divisional game. GB also won the turnover ratio against Seattle and Tampa-and lost both games. Rodgers has been mediocre or worse in the championship round-the stats don’t tell the whole story.

Great video as always, but it does gloss over how Aaron Rodgers truly followed in the Favre fashion of alienating fans by becoming a bit off an ass. I liked the guy until that fateful Covid test and how his mask came off. He is indeed a brilliant NFL QB and one of the absolute best to play the game, but dang he's a twit otherwise. Four letters, Aaron: S-T-F-U. It is amazing how many insane playoff losses they experienced, though. The Seattle one is still beyond insanity. Seattle did use up all their luck for the Russell Wilson era to win it, as evidenced by what happened in that Super Bowl. And those two losses to Arizona are by far two of the wildest games I've ever seen. I don't expect the Jets will get much out of Rodgers. Probably a pretty good regular season, but the AFC is extremely tough now. Basically it's Patrick Mahomes conference to lose. Barring injuries to the AFC superstar QBs, I just don't see Rodgers having enough in the tank to win it all. And he's one of those people, like Favre, who has burned fan bridges so it'll be nice when he finally retires.
