Wow. An outdoor Fall concert, can you imagine? I might have died from excitement. Mark sure carried it to the end! I once listened to ONLY the fall for 8 months straight. True story.
@Big Valerie It's not really about a rabbit! M.E.S said so himself...mind you, who was it who said; "the worst interpreter of an artist's work is the artist himself?" Probably Godard, I think it was an "auteur"-type director, anyhow. Anyway this song, and the album it's from, is incredible. So good I bought it twice
@Big Valerie My mate who got me into The Fall (and many other "canonical" underground bands besides!) has a huge and eclectic record collection...and owns every album Kasabian ever put out! Which, I'm not gonna lie, weirded me out a bit. Like, he loves hyper-obscure kosmiche musik (or "krautrock" if you wanna be culturally insensitive and jingoistic about it! Don't forget, it was BRITISH journos who coined that term...it's always seemed insensitive at best and borderline racist at worst to me, tbh) and he's into this shitty, "Oasis with a better record collection" band! Strange. I just bought the LUS reissue/remaster on Let Them Eat Vinyl, good record, there's a lot to digest, the 90's output is where my Fall collection is skimpiest...EDIT: sorry it doesn't become one to brag about one's record collection, I'm currently waiting for my copies of "Live At St.Helens 1981" to turn up!
@@brad8512 There's a British band called something like: "Cronenberg's Wife", something to do with David Cronenberg, and they're CLEARLY fans of The Fall! You can hear it especially on their single "Couldn't Get Off", I'll try and look it up for ya...David Cronenberg's Wife! Here y'are: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l37j24CV7W8.html , hope you enjoy--that beat and guitar line is pure Perverted By Language-era Fall, dont'cha think?! Tape noise at the beginning and everything!
It's Scandinavia. So the crowds ancestors were Vikings. Murder all day party all night ( Like Valhalla) . Lots of disappointed Gramp's looking down. Viking Atrophy.
I never knew i how good this energy filled music made feel, late discovering them but better late than never, they are helping to kick me out of me my long term depression better than all the medicines good and great brilliant gifted people.
This is seriously one of my favorite tracks on my favorites. I keep listening to this over and over. This is better than the album and the Peel version.
Every band, even famous ones, sooner or later has to play in front of a crowd who don't know them, in the daylight... They gave a good performance anyhow... Wish I was there!!!
he's always grappling with the microphones. you'd think after 40 years he would've mastered them. i guess its just part of the charm. the Fall forever!
I don't know why so many commenters have complained about the audience. Quite a few of them seem to be grooving to the band. As for the rest, perhaps this is the first time they've heard the Fall. Now they can say that they were there, "And the singer was a feisty old fellow, wasn't he."
The Fall have always sounded like a second rate university throw together to me I'm afraid - evidenced by this video. If I saw this back in the day at Sheffield Hallam I'd not be greatly impressed, I have to say. Why the Fall are so revered I'll never know, though I'm trying to like them more. Some of it is bound to be the John Peel effect, with Peel devotees claiming to love anything he liked a lot. Each to their own...
All consuming, play loud and move slowly - and think with a big mind -Oh Yeah! Audible transcendence of an outstanding nature - The Fall, are magnificent, in all their incarnations!
There has to be at least one kid in this crowd who is watching this who will later look on this as the moment when his musical tastes suddenly changed. How I envy that kid!
Atmosphere and presence because it comes from element of truth In lyrics and music. This is the hypnotic power of Fall. Watch out for Dr Faustis in Bend Sinister. In the 80s I was unprepared for this song.Did not know who Faustis was but gave me Sinister dreams..Some form of collective “hard core” ha
@staygee1 Well, I do. For me, they are one of the most talanted and meaningful bands of the ceintury. They are sarcatsic and absurd (as life is), that is why they will never be applauded. The more the public is confused and annoyed, the better the music is.
