This was my first time seeing FAMU in person. The sousaphones were so loud during the concert selection as they were playing LOW. I was so impressed, and it looks like this is a legit 300-strong band now.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏to all those dedicated, talented, and skillful college students committed to bringing their excellence as real musicians. I pray for each student's success. Music is so powerful. Famu and the conductor. Booyah!!!!!!!!!!
The trumpets are sitting on top of the band again, like they used to under Dr. Foster. The balance is really good...no blaring and out-of-balance marching euphs and mellows. This band can play.
People keep talkn about "The 100" aint open enough for the SWAC..... yall drunk AF !! U can CRANK stand music all u want, But NONE OF YOU have this sound on the field, where it matters most. That's a Solid ass sound,, Period. I'm Talkn Mr. Clean with the white t-shirt "Clean". If this band aint "open", then yall all closed.
SWAC folks kill me talking about schools like FAMU that play their own style should konvert to the SWAC style. If they did, the whole band kommunity would play the same and be boring. FAMU and others should stay true to who they are. Besides placing a heavy emphasis on blasting and blaring isn't scholarly musicianship. SWAC as whole is not the Gold Standard of musicianship .
My personal favorite performance out of all of the other bands at this event! This was a VERY good show. Song selection to musicality 💯. Can’t wait to see how they grow through this season.
The sound is GREAT!!!!!!!! The arrangements were up to date and the tenacity and hunger is back! The drill... not so much. Still one of my favorite bands tho.
when the DMs wear black uniforms, they should wear black shoes with orange spats. it would complete the dark look. i love this band. everything was on point..
I don’t know much about this flag line but this was one of the bands I was interested in upon graduating because I twirled with a 7ft flag in high school. So I can appreciate them being different from other flag lines.
They have a great sound. I would love to hear them march on the field to "Moving On" by Brass Construction and do a formation damce to "They Know" by Shawty Lo and then top it off with some Earth, Wind, and Fire. I heard a band do "What's Love Got To Do With It" but the song or melody got lost a little bit. But this band can play. Real music majors in the band tend to help band directors write the music from popular songs do a lot when they capture each section's (brass, woodwind, and percussion) part in these songs. This is the only way the song is recognizable during the entrire song. People don't realize how difficult it is to play and make formations. I played the clarinet but I was a baton twirler. So glad there weren't any scantily dressed dancers. It's time band directors realize this truly isn't the way to go even though many bands are doing it now succumbing to the times. But it's just too out of place and we need to bring baton twirlers back and I am going to try to do just that.
It use to be a dance line there by the name of Venom, but because of tradition FAMU doesn't let them march. Maybe being in the SWAC will change some things
@@jymarkolacey4914 I watched all the performances. FAMU was one of them. I haven’t paid attention to them in years but the sad part is they did the same things from years ago. Yes I was a fan as a kid. That’s why they are so disappointing now.
2023 PepsiCo National Battle of the Bands rankings: A very disappointing show from the Marching 100 had a lackluster outing at the NBOTB. Several people pointed out the band members appeared exhausted, and the movement was out of sorts. Perhaps it was because the Rattlers were the last band to play at the NBOTB, but the legendary Dr. Foster wouldn't stand for this show. They will rebound.
I felt bad for any band that performed after Doug E Fresh, all of the energy was sucked out after that. But I'll say this, all of those hip hop artists in Florida, for a hip hop based program, and FAMU did Whitney and Tina?
I think what he means is that many bands had hip hop tributes last night at this battle due to the 50th year of Hip Hop. I am FAMU 🐍🐍, orange & green ALL day but I see the question he posed. Nonetheless, the 100 sounds amazing😍😍🥰🥰
Well it looks like the theme to FAMU's show was a celebration of Black female artists, such as Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner. At the beginning of their drill developed a female gender sign. ♀️
After watching the entire show I can see why you felt like this… wasn’t bad but not Marching100 like at all… the tuna double tone at the end of the dance routine is a big hell no…… Dr. White would have not let that shit slide. And what happened to Good times at the end??? Idk wha that song was that they marched to at the end…. The sound however is good and very workable for a first performance no doubt. Tubas sound very strong!
Their drills have featured pretty much the same music for the past 3 years now, I’m getting tired of it. I also hate the lousy formations they’ve been doing. I really hope they do better at the Orange Blossom Classic.
You all better come better than this next week. Ijs . And before someone says I'm here being negative no I'm not I'm just old school FAMU is not like they used to be
You are being negative, but that's cool. We all know that in one instance, everything changed. We will never go back to the days before, but these day, the members are marching on out of school with degrees in 4 years time. That's the metric that sustains our university.
They could’ve just started with the Tap dancing side ways and spinning in circles right before the ballad. Because everything before that did not move the crowd. That clock was real childish looking. And that Beyoncé/Whitney thing they created was not IT at all.
And yet here you are ON OUR PAGE watching(INSANITY) It's like going to a restaurant you don't like, sitting down, eating and complaining about the food. I guess Ignorance is bliss huh? Thank you for increasing the view count though.
Haters gon hate…but it doesn’t really matter because FAMU is and always be the standard and chosen marching band. Get back to practice and/or sign up for FAMU’s summer band camp
@@ericajones7596 FAMU continues to live rent free in these haters heads. They hatin, but Always on our page lurking. Looking forward to our next performance.
