I lived through the change to a white, kit and wrongly assumed it's common knowledge. Keep up the good work mate 😊

Max, as you're delving into history, What about doing a video on an old Leeds United player Bobby Collins? I'm reading a book on Leeds Utd called The Unforgiven. It seems that along with Don Revie, Bobby Collins was instrumental in shaping the way the team became in the early/mid 60s. He rarely gets mentioned as people only talk about the successful Revie team, and in my opinion he deserves more recognition.

I love the colours yellow/blue/white. They go well together and it's nice to see them all featured on the home shirts. I just wish we could have a yellow away shirt with blue and white trim.

Yes we have had so many iconic blue or yellow away kits I don't know why we keep making kits like the fruit salad one we have our colours just use them they would sell more aswel. I might be wrong but I remember hearing at the time leeds' blue strongbow kit was one of nikes best ever selling shirts

Dick Ray should have a bronze statue at the club, he was after all the very first manager even though he was eventually moved to assistant, he still was actually the first.

No you’ve got it pretty much just how it happened. I started watching Leeds in 1960-61 season ironically the match was the debut of Albert Johanneson. Leeds had the kick off Charlton played centre forward that day challenging Mel Charles of Swansea (John’s famous brother) Bremner passed it to Albert who to the astonishment of everyone dancing down the wing mesmerising the full back centred it to Charlton rising above Charles scoring a header in only 11 seconds. The Black Flash had arrived. Revie was only a bit part player because of his age. A bit like Ayling today except with a far more illustrious playing career. Revie’s first match in charge was against newly relegated Sheffield United, although Humphrey saved a penalty, Leeds were lack lustre and lost 2-1. Leeds were nearly relegated to the third division, defeating the other newly relegated team Newcastle United at St James’s 3-0 to survive. The following season however, you couldn’t live with Leeds. With big Jack sitting centre forward’s on the floor approach to football, Usually, the matches were pretty much over by half time. The rest is history

Hi, so the peacock pub was there before Leeds United, hence the peacock association with that bird, I have a question, what's the difference between Amber and gold, as I always thought the colour was Amber, but called gold , as amber is no longer used as a colour name, interesting show 🎉

It's the same with the kits every season, some like them and some don't. Some people love this seasons "fruit salad" 3rd kit and some hate it. As the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time.

And Real Madrid chose the white kit in homage to the Brazilian Corinthians team, who in turn wore white in homage to the English Corinthian team who toured South America. Ironically, that's where the 'Corinthian Spirit' came from, not a noticeable characteristic of Revie's 'dirty Leeds'.

Sorry mate but this is an absolute myrh. The kit was changed under Jack Taylor,not Revie. Review was still a p!Ayer when the kit was changed. Nothing to do with Real Madrid, simply that a white shirt was easier to see.
@CB-xr1eg
@CB-xr1eg 6 месяцев назад
Sorry but that's not the case. I've seen in several books about Leeds United that it was Don Revie who in 1961, changed the shirts to white to emulate Real Madrid. "In 1961 Don Revie took over as as player/manager. His radical vision was to transform the underachieving club into the Real Madrid of Yorkshire. Out went the old blue and gold and in came an all white strip. Although it seemed an act of arrogance at the time, it was all part of Revie's plan to make everyone believe that Leeds United were not just another make-weight club side. It was perhaps a measure of local cynicism (or "common sense" as they say in Yorkshire) that this radical change of strip was met with indifference. At first, the new strip was worn without adornment but in 1964 a badge, featuring an owl was introduced.
