It took me until like 2 videos ago to figure out how to EQ my voice properly. I used to just boost all the bass frequencies below like 125hz and if you compare against a video from like a month ago, it sounds veiled and muffled. Feels so good when you make improvements. Also, website almost done pog
I purchased this laptop with the i9 10th gen cpu and wow its so dam great? I game and I also video edit and live stream on multiple platforms simultaneously with it and boom never had a single issue! I am now the number one fan of MSI! Whoop whoop 🙌
Curious to know how important design and aesthetics weigh in on your purchasing decision, especially with more expensive laptops where I assume more people care about matching their computer to their desk setup. Take the GE66's design and the GS66's trackpad, and you have just about the best 17" gaming laptop I've seen. Pretty excited for the next revision. Also, anyone else having issues with Intel Power Gadget and monitoring software in general with 10th gen CPUs? Not sure if early CPUs needing time for devs to implement software support, or if it's just me.
MSI design for their past G**5 series seems miniscule enough that it wouldn't affect my purchasing too much. The new ones looks nice but some still seems slightly more aggressive than others.
Aesthetics and direct interface (display and keyboard - i.e. perceived quality) is paramount since notebooks these days are powerful enough able to meet the needs of most people.
Personally not so much, I prefer good thermals to be at the top of my list and work my way down the list from there. I just feel any laptop is not worth the price tag if the thermals will, in a short length of time, cause hardware issues. I just got this MSI as I stated in another comment and need to give it a bit more time to fully determine just how well the cooling is, but only time will tell. In the meantime I’m simply enjoying messing around with this beast of a machine 😁
Nice review, I do have a GE75 10SGS myself with an i7-10750 and a full RTX 2080 Super. I would advice you to do an undervolt for your CPU and GPU. There is a lot of guides on the net, its a must for these new model modern laptops these days. You will remain same (mostly increase) performance, decreasing your temps by around 5-10 degrees for both the CPU and GPU and with almost no fan noise at idle. Set up minimum 2 profiles in throttlestop, one for gaming and one for regular use. You can also create one for when not plugged in to increase battery life, disabling turbo boost and having a higher undervolt value. Also use a custom fan profile which you can set up in Dragon Center. I think that you have the same CPU as mine so I would recommend you to undervolt cpu core by -100mv and cpu cache by -70mv. I like to use my cpu frequency fixed so if you would like it too, just set all core ratios to 44. You will see a huge difference. For the GPU, mine GPU core was pulling 1.1 volts for 2100 MHz core clock but couldnt maintain the clock speed because of thermals, there is no laptop on earth now which maintains that clock speed btw :) So i did fix the voltage to 950 mv with a fixed core clock of 1950. I did overclock my memory speed with 700 MHz. Yours is a 2070s so it should differ. As a result; I got around 5% more performance with my GPU while lowering temps from 86-87c to 76-80c. I got around 10% more performance with my CPU while lowering temps from 93-95c to 80-85c. Also MSI is famous of doing a bad thermal paste job, try to repaste it with a quality brand thermal paste. You also can use the "hidden" bios settings, going to overclock menu and enabling "easy overclock". CPU will maintain 4.3GHz instead of 4.2 and you wont have PL1 and PL2 restrictions for your CPU which causes lower fps by almost 20%.
I recommend you to undervold the memory ram too from the bios. Mines were from 1.20 and changed it to 1.10v it helps me to gain more perfomance and 4degrees less. if yours comes with a 1.30v memory Rama. Just change it to 1.20v. Try it and you will see good results too.
They even have a 100 watt hour battery. In theory, you could finally get 8 hours with a gaming laptop. Second closest I've seen is the Aero 15 with a 93Wh battery and that thing got around 7 hours ish I think. But I excluded this detail from the video cause I felt I was talking too much about the GE66
How’s the backlight bleed? From the video it looked like you were getting quite a bit but that might have just been the camera. I have an older GE63 that has a great display and am looking at upgrading and debating between another 15.6” MSI or this one and display quality is obviously a big deal.
Thank you for this very informative upload 🙏😊 I just got this very same model yesterday, and I must say, coming from a 17” 2019 Helios 300 with an RTX 2060, 32gigs of ram and the addition of a Killer WiFi 6 card, this MSI is nothing short than a joy to have. The look is subjective since we all have a difference in preference, but in respects to smoothness, overall feel and responsiveness I completely don’t regret trading in my Helios for the Raider. The only thing I will keep an eye on is the thermals since I’m quite new to MSI and I guess only time will tell just how good thermals will be under long heavy gaming loads (1-2hrs). So far so good, and I hope it stays that way 😁 Oh! I totally forgot to mention for any interested in the difference in fan noise between the Helios and Raider. Both my lady and I agree that the MSI is in fact much quieter than the Helios. She compared the Helios fan noise to that of a fighter jet preparing for take off lol 😂. I personally think the Helios has a cool sound to it but again, that’s subjective ✌️🙂
Thanks man! Amazing review, I'm thinking of buying one of these. I agree, it looks horrible, but it can handle a rtx 2080 super (115w). But my bigger concern is if it is made from plastic. You think that, with the pass of time, it will start to get worse (the chassis)?
You sound like a more "american" version of Dimitri from Hardware Canucks. Great review and I hope your channel grows very big. I currently own the gs75 2070 super and 10750h model and it runs pretty hot thermals wise. Comfort wise, it's good; doesn't hot near the keyboard.
I have this laptop with 8750h and rtx 2080. It's just amazing.i.have optimize this with 3200mhz rams and 200watt gpu and removed power limit at cpu watt, repaste with noctua h2 and its runs so strong!
@@jeffkoombs7346 at bios u can make it.but u need a really good optimize laptop about temps. After of that the cpu hasn't limit and draw more watt. But I never get more than 75c
This is normal for thinner gaming notebooks, it's called the "thin laptop syndrome" and this one unfortunately suffers from it. If you want one with excellent thermals, you should check out the legion 7i, that thing is an absolute beast.
Watching this on my GE75 that I got yesterday. So far I love it, except the palm rejection on the trackpad is literally non-existent. When typing, my thumb and palm are very often being sensed by the trackpad even without contact and it makes the pointer go haywire. There is no way to adjust it as far as I can tell, nor is there a way to create a "start zone" on the track pad like my last laptop which was essentially forced palm rejection. Seems like a pretty huge thing to leave out, but whatever. I guess I'll have to learn to hold my right hand differently or something and get used to it. But that's the only downside I've found so far in my very limited use of it.
Which is more powerful? The MSI GE75 with the rtx 2080 super and 10th gen processor vs The Alienware M17 R3 with the RTX 2080 Super Max Performance and 10th gen Processors... I'm considering buying one of these and would love to see what you have to say...
I wish these came equipped with Ryzen chips over Intel. Ryzen chips are taking over the future of gaming laptops, its a given unless Intel steps it up.
I got the i9-10980hk/rtx 2080 super/300hz model from GenTech PC, I am having it liquid metal repasted and thermal pads upgraded, super stoked. Too bad haven’t seen any reviews on the model I got yet.
Thank you for this concise and enjoyable review, also keeping the music track* to a minimum level (I would have preferred none*). Could you perhaps review the MSi 17 inch 1,000 min LED display model?
Hey man! I have also this laptop with the same spec as yours. Anyway is your GPU using full power in DOOM? Cos im playing apex at full low and can't get a constant 190 fps and gpu is not working at 100%. And what do you think the Rtx 2070 super is better then the 2080 super max q? I can't see any reviews about the RTX 2070 super mobile.
Can't check for you at the moment, but I'll try and remember to do it later tonight. I know it was at 100% CPU usage, but I didnt check GPU usage for DOOM eternal. For the RTX 2080 super, I'd probably say no. I'll have to confirm this later as well but I doubt the 2080 super will push 240fps consistently in newer games even at low graphics. And if you buy the 144hz screen, the 2060 (regular) can hit that in a lot of games if you dial down the graphics. I'd recommend watching benchmark videos for your favorite games to see whether they will benefit from the 2070 or 2080
I have this laptop and realized that the Rtx 2070 móbile Is a refreshed versión and it perfom 7% bettter than the old rtx 2070 mobile. it has More core clocks and Is undervolted. I do not mean the Rtx supers card Is the normal card.
I have GS70. I bought it in 2014. Hot, noisy, faulty fans. Despite being used gently, the hinge broke. The new versions do not differ much in quality. Never again.
I had my concerns with the centered half-width hinge on the Dell G series, and it turned out it was a widespread design defect. I'll look into this later if I remember, but I appreciate the feedback.
@@InfinityLabsTech The M15 & M17 R3's launched alongside the new G3 and G5/G5 SE 2 days ago, however the new Area 51M R2 won't be available till June 9th I believe.
Wait LOL I'm gonna have to read up on them cause I didn't even know the M15 R2 came out. I thought R2 was a refresh for the 10th gen + RTX Super upgrades. Oh boy I am late
@@InfinityLabsTech You already reviewed the M15 R2 on your channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hNwr2EQokNo.html The R3's are the one's with the 10th gen processors and Turing Super graphics. Surprisingly enough, M15 has a custom 105W 2080 Super Max-Q but has 2070 Super and 2070 Max-P cards where as the entire GPU line-up in the M17 R3 is Max-P (Yes, a 150W 2080 Super Max-P in a thin-and-light)
I got one with the 300hz screen, sadly had to send it back because the screen had very severe backlight bleed and uniformity problems on everything. Ended up ordering an Alienware m15 r3 instead because neweggcouldn't exchange it (no stock) and I have to wait who knows how long if I wanted to try a second raider New r3 has vapor chamber cooling and upgraded fans so it should address the thermals.. I hope
I swear tho my top 3 tech boys: Dave2D MKBHD Infinity Labs You'd be knowledgeable and updated with these 3 guys. They're all you need to watch, really.
I got me one of these bad boys on the way in a few weeks. I don't know why you would assume I own this. This was loaned to me for 2 weeks to review. As if I can give away something that belongs to someone else.
