Yeah, 46db ain't bad at all. I really want one of these for my daily PC but I wish they would put Nvidia GPUs in them. I think a laptop is still going to be my better bang for the buck scenario. Even though I'd be paying for a screen, mouse and keyboard that I don't want or need, I can get more of the hardware I want in still a small overall package. Each one of these you review is more tempting then the last! Cheers 🍻

For someone who played every original version of the Myst franchise back in the day, I was super stoked when you showcased a snippet of the brand new upcoming release of RIVEN. There is no IPU support! All other competitors for 7940HS have this option (such as Minisforum, Beelink, GMKtec etc.) Do not buy until it's confirmed they have this option supported.

Thanks for the great review. Would you be able to confirm if this will output 4K 120hz on "HDMI" ? Not the usb-c display port protocol. I am asking because I am looking for a 780M mini pc that will be used on a 4K TV + eARC sound bar. On a hand held game machine I have (Ayaneo 2S), I can output 4K 120hz via USB-4 to HDMI adaptor. However, sound does not passthrough via eARC. I don't want to add variosu other devices to hack it either.. I just want a clean 4K @ 120hz output the target TV. Will this machine deliver?

That is the issue, and what they are running for BIOS and updating. Support is generally a major issue with these units and small brands, unless something like an Asus NUC, etc.

89.9c is nowhere near " good acceptable temperature ".

Eh, it's okay. Laptop CPUs (which this has one) can run that hot. He only reached that max temp during a stress test, and stated that it was quiet. I'm sure you can adjust the fan profile to be more aggressive.

tjmax is 100. I'd rather have it at 89.9 and quiet than 85 and loud. This pc will rarely get to 89 as well. That was the max and it hit that for a brief period before the fans ramped up. Running it like this will not harm it at all. These parts are designed for this.

89.9 temp under stress isn't bad. Have you used a gaming laptop like Asus G14. Anything under 90 degrees isn't bad. Laptops under 100 is fine though 95 degrees is about max. I have this chip set in my Lenovo slim pro 7 and it spins up fans under stress and moves temps up under load. The smaller the case form factor the tougher to cool. Even with vapor chamber cooling, Asus with the G14 has had fun getting thermals down on older laptops. As long as your not getting thermals throttle or loud fan noise and under 90 degrees I am happy.

I find them to be amazing for a few things. I have one in my living room hooked to my TV, one hooked to a TV in front of some exercise equipment... I use one as my capture/streaming rig (a bigger one with a dedicated GPU), and I have 2 with proxmox installed to run VMs. So, I have mulitple running. OH, and I use one of these to render stuff with handbrake so I don't have to leave my main rig on all night rendering AV1 files.
