In this video, I am giving you a brief overview of a guitar hack that I teach to my Skype students regarding how to play fast without adopting the typical picking at 1000mph approach. Lots of repetitive licks mixed with hammer-ons and pull-offs. That is the secret. Then there is the pick every approach I won't be talking about.

@@Dreyno Learning to shred, step 1: bring a stack of albums by King Diamond, Yngwie, Slayer, Possessed, Ratt, Sabbat, Mercyful Fate, Voivod, Man 'O War, Iron Maiden, etc....... to your guitar practice area, plus some of your favorite "party favors" to get your head right. Step 2: Plug in your weapon of choice, dial in your desired tone, and crank it all up. Step 3: Put on a good album ( make sure your guitar is in tune with the album ), crank that up and let some of these masters of 80s metal shredding lead you, your hands and brain will follow. Step 4: Lather, rinse repeat. If you do this every chance you get, you'll be ripping up that guitar with the best of them so get ready to surprise yourself at your newly acquired awesomeness. Step 5: Find some like-minded and talented musicians to play with, write good songs, play every club, bar, party, you can. Step 6: Enjoy the flow of pussy, your favorite substances, and people coming up to you and saying how cool and awesome you are ;) \m/

You definitely just gave me something I could work on that I never even thought about. I've been watching videos for the last 2 months trying to learn music theory, circle of fifths, names of the notes on my guitar and dont really understand it or even understand how to apply it to my playing because no one really goes to deep into detail for someone who is new to that stuff. I didn't learn any of that from this video but got more from this 1 video than these numerous so called"musically inclined" videos. Thanks for the video. Gret work and hope to see more.

It just happens naturally, like one day you just start shredding. At first it's messy, but still feels awesome. I mean it's all about gaining control of the sound and not thinking about hand movements much, at least on the strumming side. If you think too much you start to lose speed and you mess up. It's tricky, but all you need to do is just let go and feel the music

I am left handed but play right. This was the technique that worked the most for me. After practicing it for a year, I finally sped up. Thank you!

I've been playing and practicing hardcore for years. Studied guitar in college and my picking hand is pretty fast I think anyway. But my fingers have never caught up. I do all the exercises and just can't get my fingers to move at a faster speed. I definitely have learned it's in the fretting hand and nothing replaces hard work. There are no secrets just the 10000 hour theory lmao

Guitar playing is not a sport i.m.h.o. It is not about becoming the fastest player. Music is a way to express feelings by sound. If you are a very good shredder doesn't mean you are a very good musician. It only means that you master a certain technique very well.

That's pretty obvious really.

@@peterspeets9950 I agree but to play certain songs you gotta be fast and musical for example Mr Crowley

@@peterspeets9950 and it's an obsession I've had ever since I studied guitar but then again there are guitar players like David gilmour who don't need really fast licks cause they have so much emotion. I'd love to be able to play like a Gary Moore with so much emotion and fast licks throughout as needed

That was awesome😎especially since I’m also left handed! I’d been monkeying with it a bit doing A minor blues...but it’s great to actually hear someone verbalizing and demonstrating this...and another Southpaw to boot🤠Thank you for sharing your gift! 🔥☯️🔥
