I'm a 52-year-old QA Specialist at Confluera, with an annual income of $150,000. Although I do have a retirement account, I'm keen on exploring short-term investment opportunities as I prepare to shift to part-time work in the near future. What would be the most suitable strategy to achieve my goals?

It's crucial to have a well-thought-out strategy and not make impulsive moves based on short-term market fluctuations. Patience and a long-term perspective are key. You should consider a market expert to guide you.

Thinking back to a few summers ago, amidst the challenges of my prolonged divorce, I found myself in urgent need of assistance to maintain the stability of my business. This prompted me to seek out licensed advisors, ultimately leading me to a highly qualified professional. I started with Dave Ramsey when I graduated college in 2009 and I started a corporate engineering job. Became a net worth millionaire in 2017. Currently my net worth is about $5 million. Lived super frugally on a small portion of my income and invested the rest…. Boom it’s that simple. I believe anyone can become a multi-millionaire. To become extraordinarily wealthy, that does take another level of grit, talent and sometimes luck. FYI, I grew up lower middle class and started with nothing with no one wealthy in my family.

I am so glad I randomly ran across Dave’s show on RU-vid 4 years ago. It completely changed my trajectory. Now I’ve always saved for retirement and put away the max towards my 401k at work since age 25, but I’ve never gotten serious about getting rid of my student loans until I watched the show. Coming out with 140k in student loans makes me feel like it’s hopeless until you really get aggressive with pay it off. Once I followed the baby steps… that loan went away quickly and without loans, I never slept better… a whole weight was off me… and I finally can see how I can take that money invest it and see it quickly amass. Within 1 year, got me to a million. Cutting back, rice and beans were tough to do but the freedom it brings now… 100% worth it. Worth the short term sacrifice for the long term mental freedom.

Most people either do not understand the power of compound interest, or are just impatient. For the average Joe, however, I think it is just best to invest in the S&P 500, and just wait, which is reliable, albeit extremely long-- lots of years. Or just use a professional analyst and speed up wealth creation. Most people underestimate the power of the latter.

I didn’t do it and my back is ok but for over 10 years hurt daily. Pick a specialty you love that you see your self doing for 20 years. Pick a place where even if you don’t get a pension but has a a great 401k or similar benefit start saving right away in a Roth if available. I work for the VA and am a Marine so all my years have helped me retire comfortably. I became a RN at 34 and best decision I made but worked in healthcare for over 25 years. I am a teacher in Arkansas and have been for 13 years. We are very low payed as far as teachers go. My husband is a firefighter and makes a medium income. We have no debt, I was able to take time off when our kids were born, and only owe 40k on our house. Hoping to pay it off by the time I'm 40. I think teachers are millionares bc they HAVE to learn frugality BECAUSE they don't make much. So its a lifestyle and mindset that automatically lends itself to saving.

I fully agree with Dave. I am a software engineer from Bangalore, India and I am a US$ millionaire. I followed a rule of never ever taking any kind of Debt in my life. I bought my first house in 100% cash down. My savings rate from my 1st day of starting job was 20% which kept increasing each year as my salary kept increasing and now from last 7.5 qyears it's been 70% savings rate. I reached to millionaire status in 18 years of my working career. I don't understand why most Americans can't become millionaire despite of earning such a high salary as compared to Indians working in India. Increase the savings rate to 50%-70% and you will become millionaire so fast.

@@marthaayalew2505 Living anywhere is expensive if you compare income with respect to that country. The key is to reverse compute how much you can spend after removing the savings money first from your income. Once this number available for spending is computed then plan for how much is available for housing, food, transportation. If number is small then one will have to junk the idea of staying in bigger , expensive housing. What one can afford can afford. Affordability number can only be computed after removing savings from the monthly income.

Strategic investment is critical. My ideal investment is a diverse combination of stocks, bonds, and ETFs. It provides an excellent long-term return and has performed admirably thus far, but I needed to diversify my portfolio at some point, so I approached a coach who devised a system that aligned with my targets; so far, I've made a whopping $580k, and scaling my portfolio to a million by the end of the year does not seem too far-fetched to me.

They miss what baby step 7 ends with, " live like no one else, so that later you can Live and Give like no one else.
