I'm just glad fans who were disappointed with the end of Adventure Time back in 2018 get to have a more proper send-off with the characters with Distant Lands. And it's not even over. We'll soon be getting a Fionna and Cake spin-off!
As long as they don't do another boruto or legend of korra. I wouldn't mind if they a dragon ball gt styled spin off because that would totally fit with the tone of the show.
I feel like Adventure time, Ben 10, etc. should migrate to an adult based platform (although CN undoubtedly owns the rights to them all) so the creators can evolve the stories into being targeted towards adults or teenagers. I grew up watching these shows and would absolutely love to see them with more mature storylines such as romance, deaths, etc.
*LONG LIVE THE ADVENTURE TIME SCLERA EXPRESSIONS* Also this video was totally worth the wait! I'm super grateful for your positive take on "Wizard City"--it deserves so much more attention than its getting right now for a multitude of reasons. Looking forward to your Best of 2021 countdown video in the near future!!
BMO - mediocre Obisidian - great Together Again - fantastic Wizard City - good Even though peppermint butler was my favorite character in the og show, I didn’t like him because he was tiny here. Also Together Again was the true finale for finn and jake.
Adventure time a show where the fun truly never ends. Welcome back Nicktendo! Why did the creators not put together again at the finale? And does Pendleton ward want the show to continue like this?
@@supermaya1893 He never "left the show". He stepped down as showrunner because he didn't think he was fit to run such a huge show. He was still voicing several characters (most notably LSP) for the whole rest of the show, _including_ Distant Lands. If he truly didn't want the show to keep going, he would probably refuse to come back to it, but that's not the case.
Adventure Time is one of those rare shows that has a long run and doesn't drop in quality. All seasons are awesome and it keeps getting better and better even with it's limited series Distant Lands and the spin off for Fionna and Cake
I honestly think that BMO’s strongest point was its design, which makes sense considering that Michael Deforge was one of the main creatives on the team
Who wants to take bets that after Fionna and Cake, that there will be a Shermy and Beth series? It seems evident to me that Adventure Time is designed to go on and on, even after the initial series ended.
Honestly, I think we'll either get a season 2 of Distant Lands or another series before we get the Shermy and Beth spin-off. Some potential spin-offs we could have (not including Shermy and Beth): -Martin Mertens in space leading up to being imprisoned in the Citadel. -Simon and Marcy in the first hundred years after the Mushroom War. -Susan Strong and Frieda traveling the world, probably checking out the other continents on Earth. -The Pups (or just Gibbon) starting the Pup Kingdom. Though this one is more likely _after__ (or as a flashback during) a Shermy and Beth series. -Joshua and Margaret Investigations -Choose Goose's path to evil, and his eventual death (likely after reverting back to how we see him in Together Again, maybe even losing his memory, but also possible he just pretended to be innocent) -Peppermint Butler and Cadebra at Wizarts Academy, just chilling and learning magic, eventually leading to Peppermint Butler taking over the Candy Kingdom. -Tiffany. Just anything with Tiffany. And these are just the ones I can think of that could be whole series and not just a special...
I watched Together Again on acid and... Totally recommend, I ended up watching it 2 or 3 times throughout my 12 hour trip! Something about Adventure Time just makes it awesome for tripping but I think this episode might be the best for it so far
My favourite from top to bottom Obsidian/ Together Again (I a huge Marceline/ BP shipper but Together Again was the perfert closure for Finn and Jake) Wizard City BMO
I still think that Adventure Time will be back at some point.I mean why would they say that the adventure never ends? It's obvious that the show will make a comeback at some point. We just have believe and be patient.I may not be right but I still have faith

Imma be honest, Wizard City was probably the weakest special by far. I thought the characterization of Pep But was too far from his original personality, like he wasn't 100% evil all the time, so making him the outright antagonist who turns out to practically be a demon just felt off to me. Plus, it contradicts what we see in Together Again where he's still a morally ambiguous character, which is especially weird as the original show never really retconned much. Also the special felt meandering in the worst, Season 6 ways possible, with tons of scenes going nowhere and doing nothing for me. A shame that it had to be released last too... At least we're getting the Fionna and Cake series however
Why people hated adventure time so much. Not saying if it's true or not. But in my case, I lose the only channel that emitted adventure time after the release of "Simon and Marcy". And I return to the show after seeing an amv of flame princess vs ice king and the "finn loses his arm. So I don't have much context.
@@mohamedlamin2968 people dont hate adventure, just the few seasons after 5 and finale really by 2015 the show became a love story about finn for a good bit and got boring but then stuff like islands and elements brought people back to the show with its settings and stories, i remember sitting and watching adventure time episode after each other for the first rime when the 5 part islands specials aired cause it was so good, last time i did it back then was the Lich 2 maybe 3 parter with finn wishing the lich never existed and making an alternate timeline
this is the most pedantic thing I'll ever say but Clarence had a brief scene with jeff's moms' wedding tape in the episode "Clarence the Movie" a month or so before Steven Universe aired "Reunited." it's not a race and I love both shows but I figured I should point it out
Yeah, shame that most don’t care too much about Clarence these days. It’s a pretty good show. I guess living under the shadow of the other popular CN shows and the show creator being a creep might mess with its reputation.
Honestly the continuation of Adventure Time is everything I could want from it, but seeing the art and animation style start to resemble Steven Universe and OK-KO is a little disheartening, mainly cause I am not fond of those shows and also because I think it messes with the style Adventure Time already had, but that's the price we pay for more I guess.
i can understamd not licking steven universe its very inconsistent in quality but OK K.O. is the best show on CN since Clarence aired imo that too was an under ratef show
Adventure Time should really come back one more time on Cartoon Network. This time, with a crossover miniseries with 7 Cartoon Cartoons from the late 90s. The shows given are as follows; The Powerpuff Girls (original), Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Dexter's Laboratory, Ed, Edd n Eddy, and Mike, Lu & Og.
The BMO episode was fire and better than the second episode. You cap. The Finn and Jake episode was the best it made me weep. Also those are Finn's parents as well they raised him.
9:06 No, I've just watched Obsidian, and it was really noticeable to me that Marceline's song felt a bit too... normal? for Adventure Time? Like I liked it, but it was a very conventional pop-punk breakup song, and AT songs are usually in like a weird time signature with unusual instrumentation, and "Woke Up" felt almost... Olivia Rodrigo-y (even tho Obisidian did came out before)
BMO is cute but not enough to hold my attention for 45 minutes... Y5 though, I *LOVE* that precious bunny child!!! I liked Obsidian quite a bit but there are definitely some things that either irked me personally (Glassboy voice too distracting lol and I found him a nuisance, ruining a rather somber sad moment with Marceline) or just maybe fell a bit flat (as you point out, there really isn't much time focused on Marcy and PB as much as their probably should), it's still pretty good though. Together Forever is everything the fans would want for a finale and then some, love it! My only question afterwards was "where the fuck is Simon???" ..... Still haven't Wizard City yet whoops, I might some day, just nothing I've seen or heard about interests me that much, PepBut seems a strange character to focus on. Interested in the Fionna and Cake thing mainly just for more Simon because I can never get enough of him
If they were to make a second seas. Like before she met Jake orphan. I wish to know what happened to her mother and before she was in prison in the lantern. I understand that flanking was the one who put his daughter out of the kingdom to die and the princess bubblegum found her which made him lock her up in the first place. I’m also assuming that flame king is the one who killed flame princess his mother. Because he was also the one who killed his own brother just to obtain the throne in the fire kingdom and we destroy anyone who is over powerful than him. But I mean everyone else is clearly getting a backstory or a glimpse into the future so I would love to see that for her as a past or how her life is in the future after they got more. I still ship Finn and flame princess even though the creators said they were not getting back together and they are just good friends now. Or maybe see an episode of her taking a raptor .
At this these episodes were better received than Steven Universe future. Boy did that one fell rushed a bit in the end. Circumstances be darned they should have known some of the backlash for those episodes.
I watched them in the wrong order, not intentionally tho... I watched in air date order and the last two got switched due to recording issues at the studio.
I kinda lost interest in Adventure Time when Cartoon Network decided they didn't wanna air the show that much anymore back during 2014 and onwards plus I can't say I was that invested in the story driven plot the show started to develop later on in it's run I just can't get into it I preferred Adventure Time when it was episodic.
Same, plus with all the weird decisions they made with the characters (Like Ice King's gf SOMEHOW being the maguffin to stop whatever the hell was going on). It genuinely confuses me to why they did that. Then again, show runners were swapped around so maybe it was miscommunication?
@@SetSeth-yl6ke "Ice King's gf" was not the "maguffin" to stop what was going on. She sacrificed herself using the _wishing crown_ that Ice King brought with him into the almighty Golb that "Ice King's gf" had summoned specifically to change Ice King back into Simon, which she technically succeeded at. Also, Adventure Time was very rarely story driven. It was always character driven, even in the first few seasons. The later seasons were just a bit more coherent while the first ones were still introducing the world.
I don't like the whole 'pretending Harry Potter doesn't exist' thing. Sure, maybe the author sucks, but those books and movies were a huge part of my childhood and adolescence and basically taught me to read, regardless of their quality. Did those 18-20 years of my life...not happen? As for the specials I'm glad AT has continued, but I wish I liked them more. I thought BMO/Wizard City were okay, found Obsidian to be kinda awkward and melodramatic, kind of like Adventure Time regressing to the early Sugar days (I appreciate what she did for the show but not all of it holds up super well), and even Together Again took a concept that is really fascinating to me (Finn and Jake having an adventure in the afterlife) and kinda flubbed it a bit imo. I don't remember exactly what happened but the choice F&J make in the end really baffled me. I guess another part of me also wanted a more introspective, quiet, meditative episode without the need for a big conflict (like if Moynihan had written the ep lol).
Obsidian was the one special that felt like the story they were trying to tell needed more time than they were given. There wasn't a lot of time for anything to breathe and for the glass kingdom to develop, especially glassboy who needed a scene to actually connect with marceline instead of interrupting a big moment for her. they focused on marcy and bonnies emotions primarily and did the best they could with anything else.
I'm glad there making a young adults show on hbo it makes sense because there viewer base is young adults now Like look at stampylongnose for example he stood kid friendly when his view base grew up and now his channel is dead
idk what it is about the new episodes that just dont click the way the original did. It feels like it was written by the people that wrote Steven universe lol
Lol, having watched a bit of a few of this guy's videos, is the one and only thing he truly appreciates LGBTQ representation? It's basically the thing he never fails to mention, praising it as the best aspect front and center every video I've seen. Seems like a somewhat one note, shallow fixation.
This show died a looooonggg time ago before it even officially ended. It killed the stakes of telling a great story and could have been the next avatar, gravity falls, and even SU. It just became a boring depressive mess. I blame Adam Muto and CN for fucking up Adventure Time, it literally could have been The Beserk of cartoons.
ok so I see this alot in review-type videos and want to speak my mind on the topic. The sexuality of a character does not and should not affect the character's overall quality or the show's quality, if a character is LGBTQ then neat, if they aren't then they're still a character of equal quality. A character being straight is not a criticism.
about 70 percent of the new episodes are not what I wanted (more side story filler while the juicy stuff leaks a tiny bit through the episode, mostly right at the end)
