Nathuram Godse: journalist, nationalist - and the man who murdered Gandhi.
This gripping play traces Godse’s life over 30 years during India’s fight for independence: from a devout follower of Gandhi, through to his radicalisation and their tragic final encounter in Delhi in 1948.
Director Indhu Rubasingham (Kerry Jackson, The Great Wave) reunites with Anupama Chandrasekhar, one of India’s most exciting playwrights, for this essential exploration of oppression and extremism, featuring Olivier Award-winner Hiran Abeysekera (Life of Pi) as Nathuram Godse with Paul Bazely (Cruella) as Mahatma Gandhi.

This is the one ad I didn't skip, I was sucked in by his acting, his expressions, the casualness of his voice. I would love to go to the production for this.

I saw this tonight at the olivier- Absolutely outstanding theatre of the highest order. Hiran Abeysekera was spellbinding and the whole cast was sensational. Just wonderful! So very moving. A well deserved standing ovation.

The way his eyes turn from light to dark in an instant is amazing. Decided to see the opening night five seconds after watching this trailer. He jumped around the stage like nobody's business. The whole cast was just brilliant, and the storytelling was flawless.

Agree, this ad did it for me and I was not disappointed when I saw the production last week. Absolutely spellbinding performance by Hiran. I wish I could go to see it again.

I watched press night this week with my son. This play was just outstanding, especially Hiran Abeysekera's performance throughout the play.

Omg i love this actor!! Was captivated by his Posthumous in Cymbeline at the RSC and can’t wait until The Life of Pi comes to National Theatre live so i can get another subscription to watch it! Now i get to look forward to this!!

It's a story I really want to know more about and will look forward to home streaming it. However, I wish NT wouldn't put up these teasers with performances that aren't yet ready to be seen...they actually put me off watching the final production.
