Wrong!! There's a lot of black that crack. Compare my brother cube with a lot black brothers his age and you'll see that ice cube's diet is why he looks like he looks....not because he's black.
Cube said he was going to go on everyone's platforms, and he wasn't kidding! I've been waiting for a JRE with him forever! There's so many stories to tell.
My Dad was a cop and we listened to the whole album many times. Lol. My Dad always said if you want t be a cOp you have to have thick skin because people can say almost anything they want and that is what makes our country great.
That's what makes America great? Thing that majority of countries worldwide have? What I honestly think that the reason US has been going diwnhill in almost every metric economically and socially is exactly that - Americans are being brainwashed from the crib that their country is perfect and no other country can compare, while US ranks like 20-30 in most rankings comparing standards of living, healthcare, education and even freedom charts, but nobody does anything about it because why would anyone speak up if their country is perfect? Its such a dumb thing
The importance of this man is under rated. Not just to hip hop but to the freedom of speech that America is entitled to have. Now imagine what would've happened in music if there had never been an N.W.A. much less if there had never been Ice Cube or Dr. Dre.
Did you know Ice Cube went to Taft High School? The most expensive private white man's School in California. Cube was never from the streets, straight from the elite white man's world
I agree about the freedom of speech, but I think that gangster rap and the culture of violence is destroying the black community. Black people kill each other at alarming rates.
"If you're gonna act like a thug, let's thug it up. If you're gonna act like an officer, I'll respect your authority." That's something every cop should be taught.
N.W.A and the Posse was the first album I ever owned. I was in 7th grade and always knew these guys were special. Each one had their own unique style. Seeing and hearing Cube just brings back memories of one of the original "gangster rappers"
@@ihateintroductions5808 He's not lying, Cube and Dre were not gangsters. Cube came from a middle class home and went to college, he didn't grow up in the hood. Dre left Death Row Records because he didn't like the drama and gangster crap that Suge Knight was part of. Easy E and McRen were G's.
yeah so i said it back when it happened. And i will say it now. NWA forced the musical standards down for rap. Hip Hop & R & B. This is not my opinion it is a historical FACT. Rap,hip-hop and R & B does not have to follow the same musical standards as like.Rock,Country, ect, ect, Because rap artiest are not clever enough to write a song with out Violence, swearing, or threaten other people. They can not live up to the same musical standards as the rest of the Music Industry. Like. Alternative, Rock, Country, ect, ect. Like i said this is not my opinion these are FACTS you can look up. I think it is sad Black people had years on years to master the rap scene. Then a white boy comes along & snatches that $hit. And owns rap like he is a rap god. Yet that white boy gets no props from the black community. Even though he revolutionized rap. Long live Eminem. If any one can make a rap song and live to country, rock, Alternative and other musical standards. It will be Eminem that will do it. Like a said already. The black community is not clever enough or they would of did it already. But i guess rock, Country, ect, ect have to follow those standards because that is white privilege.
@@ihateintroductions5808 , I go by Rockstar, but for some reason , ytube has changed it, and I see the high IQ one, bounces back and forth, but still the same person, me, lol I get shadowbanned a lot, maybe why, got kicked off Facebook for my comments here , 😂😂
@@maxdenbreejen9844 the bottom of that slope is another civil war when man’s government start taking away peoples God given right to speak. Covid was a huge push towards that edge.
I remember this was the first tape that I bought that had cuss words and listening to it on my walkman while waiting for my mom to pick me up from the mall... Wonderful memory😂😂😂😂
Let's face it if you're a popular musician/band/entertainer and you get a letter from the authorities telling you they're concerned about you... that's a badge of honour!
It's not a badge of honor if the song the FBI was complaining about really did advocate killing police. Would you at least be offended if the song were about killing women?
@@musicloverchicago437 I have 3 close family members in the police, I have also been the victim of police brutality, I feel I'm more than qualified to talk on the topic. And freedom of speech is WAY more important than the feelings of the police about a song they don't like. The lyrics could have been more specific towards police who abuse their position, rather than the police as a whole, I'll ALWAYS agree with that sentiment. However people have a right to voice their opinions, regardless of how offensive it may come across. Because trust me; the alternative is FAR worse!
@@musicloverchicago437 I'm not talking about threats, I'm talking about entertainment, protest and speech. I have a right to complain about something I don't agree with, threatening to kill someone is something else entirely. Also I'm English, not American, we have less free speech than you have. If I voice my true opinions on transgender issues or Islam on Facebook or Twitter with my real name attached to those statements; I'll be arrested. Just think about that. And then think about it again if a Government you DON'T agree with had those same powers on what they regarded as "hate speech". Politicians have no right to criminalise your opinions, that's dictatorship, NOT freedom!!!
Ice Cube is my favorite rapper of all time and I grew up in 1970s LA rap/rock scene. Dude was respected to the max all over LA county, hands down, from the beginning, and to this day his lyrics give us the chills and impacted many people's lives growing up in LA. Anything he says I listen to, even if I don't understand or agree at that moment. That's the power of persuasion, baby.
L.A. had good punk rock in the early 80's. Amerikkka's most wanted, Death Warrant and the predator were some of his best work. The album he did with Da Lenchmob was also amazing stuff. Classic rap of the 80's and 90'sis untouchable. No Vaseline was one of the best diss songs in rap music. BDP, The Bridge is Over I think was the first.
One of Joe's moments when he realized how surreal his fame got was when he saw Ice Cube at a UFC and he said "What's up Joe!". All the long term JRE listeners know this 😂
@@JohnStockton7459 Who said anything about worship? You wouldn't be psyched to get recognized by a great musician? It's a sign of your own success when someone who's a pro in their field recognizes you from your work.
Loved this interview, been a fan of Ice Cube forever, love him even more now. Thank you for bringing him to us, a man of strong character. The entire interview can be found 'where Joe can speak freely.' See it, it's a great interview… Unable to provide where, or the content, silenced by the regime. Godspeed ✞🕊
When will everyone learn they want black people on the plantation. Cube is the perfect example. The democrats won't work with him and neither will the NBA which is a branch of the democrat party. Furthermore when MLK was alive A&P grocery store met with him to give black people thousands of jobs across America. It would've been the biggest hire since the assembly line and the democrat party came in and forced A&P to stop it because they wanted them on welfare. These are facts people.
@@stellviahohenheim definintely not scripted. but obviously there are HOT questions youd wanna ask. like tarantino, ask about pulp fiction. ice cube, ask about eazy e. frikkin, neil degrassse tyson, ask about the universe. etc.
Awesome podcast! Listened to it tonight at work! Good man Cube standing up for what he believes in all these years later! Showing the young people hopefully you can do it too
From harassing rappers to being weaponized against opposing political parties they sure don’t seem to be the good guys I aspired to be like growing up. SMH
Pleasure of meeting Cube at a Lakers V Suns Christmas game during halftime back in 07, very down to earth dude and after shaking his hand I remember for a second not even caring if the Lakers won, but of course they did and Kobe dropped 38pts. A Good Day it was indeed!
@@dbuck1964 They were called (blue laws). And the supreme court deemed that blue laws were unconstitutional due to the fact that most of them were created on Biblical scripture.
@@dbuck1964 Doesn't matter if local state laws prohibited obscenities. The constitution trumps all local state law, and free speech is protected by the 1st amendment. When state agents are telling you that you'll be arrested for speaking, that is a straight up 1st amendment violation. It's the whole reason it exists to begin with; People have the right to redress their government, and the government cannot jail you for it.
Ice cube is a legend I remember when I was a kid I knew him for his family movies and when I found out about the NWA I was really surprised you really is a legend. He's been through a lot of shit still became a better person. And he's writing skills are on fire
This entire 3 hour interview is an Ice Cube i have never seen in other interviews. His answers are thoughful, articulate and very relatable. Give the whole interview a listen.
I lived in LA for 5 years. I never been harassed, pulled over, and given tickets to for no reason more in my entire life than those 5 years. They move like a gang. Most corrupt PD I’ve ever been around.

Now you can lose your freedom of speech for misgendering someone or pointing out the criminals in Pfizer. 10 years ago there were no disagreements on big pharma being criminals. Now they can shut you up and ruin your life through politicians, law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

In 10th grade, for black history month, I wrote an entire essay on how beneficial Ice Cube, KRS-ONE and associated groups were. Not only iconic in homes but did real boots-on-ground work. Provided opportunity in the lives of individuals who ended up empowering their communities outside of familia bonds and norms. I got an A.
KRS-ONE is a legend. For me he's one of the top 5 mc's of all time. I remember hearing The Bridge is over the first time at my friends house on those old stereo's with the big speakers, and I was like "Wow! This is nothing like Michael Jackson or Prince" LOL

Ice Cube has been one of my favorite artists since I was in 8th grade and got really heavy into hip-hop and rap. It’s really nice to see him finally do a JRE
We need that 2Live Crew documentary as well. They won freedom of speech case for their raps which has allowed rappers to say what they want the last 30yrs+
"Amerikkka's Most" is still a certified classic to this day. Going solo from NWA was a power move and one of the best things Cube could have done for himself and his career.
He's too scared to talk. Cube is a fake ass black napoleon. Nobody cares about his 3 on 3 basketball nonsense. He's got a leg on both sides of the fence. His memory is terrible... speaks so slow.
@@jsanders9975I don’t agree, but it’s hard to argue with that list. I’d swap Marshall and Christopher for Rakim and Cube. That’s tough though. All of them are legends. Black Thought too, he often gets overlooked.
