Its finally time to replace and upgrade my dust extractor, I can't put up with it any longer.
Both nervous and excited to see if this really is the upgrade I've been hoping for.

Congratulations! I've got pretty much the same machine and it's been great. We run a 200mm main duct and the 4kW 3-phase motor. If you have a 3-phase model you'll want to check the rotation of the impeller, if it goes the wrong way the unit will only pull half the volume. This is easily fixed by swapping any two phases feeding the machine. Additionally, we use a tough leads remote control system that works very well. They're not expensive and will build custom solutions if that's what's necessary. Just send them a few pictures of the inside of the switch box and they'll help you out. I find that keeping as many as possible dust ports closed makes for much better dust extraction. It also prevents random objects from getting sucked in accidentally and causing sparks or even fire in the impeller...

bag attachment seems very good, im always amazed at the crap system dust collectors use to attach bags in other brands, its not that hard to make it more user friendly. seems a lot more powerful as well.good job you had enough height to fit it in. my cnc is in the house so i spent a lot of time soundproofing the dedicated dust collector attached to it and built a dedicated box with hepa filters on the outlet, enjoy your new collector.

Hi Kevin, I had to check and double check on the height as I knew it was going to be close. Your CNC sounds like a lovely install. 👍

Hi Graham That is one beast of a machine, if only i had the space, very envious, I'm sure its going to be a huge improvement moving forward judging by the initial start up, looking forward to a review down the line All the best David

Nicely done! The bag looks similar in size to what my RL160 uses so do not let it fill completely as they get very heavy and you have to drag it out to the front of the shop just like my configuration. I have always thought the RL designation stood for "Really Loud" but I am not sure what AF means. Enjoy your new addition. Steve

I bought the Jet 2HP not long ago. They have 1.5, 2, and 3 hp versions. Yours looked like the 2 like mine.

Thanks for doing this review. I watched it and a few others (weren’t many), and based on what I heard I ordered an AF22. Have you connected it to your drum sander and HS950?

Indeed I have and it just deals with the fine dust without issue, simply delighted.

What was wrong or didn’t like on the old dust collector

Hi Rick, I could only have one dust port open at a time and the storage bin was very small which meant frequent emptying.

Someone gave me this dust extractor a few years ago but it only has the felt bag installed. I live in the US and it is going to cost me about $900 to upgrade to the cartridge filter and paddle cleaners, including tax and shipping. I’m debating if I’m better off just buying a used cyclone extractor for around the same money as upgrading. The cyclone doesn’t have as powerful of a motor but wondering if the benefits of a cyclone extractor outweigh the higher cfm on this machine? Do you have to replace the filter much more often if it’s not a cyclone extractor or does using the paddle cleaners take care of that issue? I’m a hobbyist so I use it some but it’s not like I’m using it 8 hours everyday.

Gary, in the short space of time I've had mine I can tell you that I am delighted with it. If you regularly use the paddle then the filter should last for years, mine last one was still in use 5 yrs later. I used to give it a blow our with the airline once a yr.

Hi Graham. Really interest in your new system. I have a home workshop with limited ceiling height so am interested in the total height of your system. Is there a recommendation on how high above the floor the extractor base needs to be mounted

I'll grab a tape measure and let you know.

I allowed 1270mm from the top of the unit to the ceiling, which left me 845mm from the top of the unit to the floor. 👍

is there Bluetooth on and off so you don’t have to go back and forth over hill and dale to turn it on and off?

Hi Graham. Once the legs become a little tired look at tough leads who produce wireless remote control for just this situation
