Now that our Ferrari 575M Maranello is fixed, I take it out for a review. I have to admit, I had low expectations as I generally don't like Grand Touring cars. But this Ferrari 575 is pretty amazing! I really enjoy the handling and power of the V12. It's a very smooth riding car that has precise handling and it's a lot of fun to drive!

I have a client who has collected Ferraris, and currently has 4 including a pista. His 575 m is his favorite by far. He said he doesn’t care about the others. He will keep the 575 m forever! Can’t wait to drive it!

the 550 and 575 are amazing! The most gorgeous "modern" gts ever made! And if it's a manual version, with direct exhaust, it becomes perfect! The strong point of this car is at high speed, this car after 300km/h continues to climb in an incredible way! Remembering that a 550 is still the world record holder for maximum average speed in 24 hours!

After ten years with a 360, about a year ago I got a 575M (for which Dan provided a useful consult). I think Dan's review captures the essence of the 575M very effectively. It doesn't have quite the razor-sharp feel of the 360, particularly on turn-in, but the combination of power, smoothness, and cornering ability would be amazing in a modern car, let alone one that was designed twenty years ago. It is also a car that is great for whatever one wants to do at a particular moment -- go for a spirited drive, go on a road trip, or go get groceries. It's great at all of them (except maybe for the 10 MPG). I also agree with Dan that it doesn't feel big when driving, except for the long hood which took some getting used to after years with a 911 and then 360 when the road was in your lap. I would not shy away from the F1 in this car -- as Dan notes, it seems to be less jerky than in the V8s, and I find myself shifting a lot less because the V12 is so tractable and happy virtually anywhere in its rev ranges unlike the more high-strung V8s.

02+ Ferrari F1s (all 575, 2nd half of 360) got a lot better because of better TCU tuning. A lot of 360s get a bad rep on the F1 as they made a lot of them in 99, 00, 01. 575 came out in 02 so was already ahead of the curve.

Beautiful car, but that repair guy knows what he is talking about. I would bring it up to modern spec with the exhaust and tune before any manual conversion. You obviously dont have the Fiorano handling pack and this car is strangled at 510hp. Maybe somebody wants to parade a badge , but the performance upgrades would compliment this car i truly believe.

575 'box is OK. The rule for 360s is get a 2003 onwards TCU in it. Or even better get a 2003 TCU and then get it flashed to Challenge Stradale spec. Or just buy the CS TCU if you can find one. Makes a huge difference to the 360 experience. Oh and also get it to a 360 specialist indie and ask them to set the thing up right and get the PIS down.

The Ferrari 575M Maranello[3] (Type F133) is a two-seat, two-door, grand tourer manufactured by Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. Launched in 2002, it is essentially an updated 550 Maranello featuring minor styling changes from Pininfarina. The 575M was replaced by the 599 GTB in the first half of 2006. Ferrari 575M Maranello (rear) Updates from the 550 included a redesigned interior as well as a number of mechanical improvements, including bigger brake discs, a larger and more powerful engine, improved weight distribution, refined aerodynamics and fluid-dynamics along with an adaptive suspension set-up (the four independent suspensions are also controlled by the gearbox, to minimize pitch throughout the 200-milliseconds shift time). Two six-speed transmissions were available, a conventional manual gearbox and, for the first time on a Ferrari V12, the "F1" automated manual gearbox built by Graziano Trasmissioni. The 575 model number refers to total engine displacement in centiliters, whilst the 'M' is an abbreviation of modificata ("modified"). For 2005, the company released a GTC handling package and a Superamerica version (a limited run of 559 retractable hardtop variants of the coupé), along with raising the power from 515 PS (379 kW; 508 hp) to 540 PS (397 kW; 533 hp). A total of 2,056 cars were produced, including 246 with manual transmissions.[4] Performance Interior with F1 paddleshift gearbox Maximum speed: 325 km/h (202 mph) 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph): 4.2 seconds 0-400 m: 12.25 seconds 0-1,000 m: 21.9 seconds ---Wikipedia...
