For any lefties like me who may be interested in this knife, keep in mind that the pocket clip is fixed; you can't move it to the other side. That may not be a deal-breaker for all lefties, but it is for me. Looks like a fine knife otherwise though.
@@2GFLIX He also mentioned that he considers the Terrible (R) knives to be a completely different category. I believe he said he will continue the series. As far as I'm aware the main hurdle to putting out more Terrible Knives Live is his schedule and that he has to build up a supply of unusable knives.
The ugly is that you wouldn't be supporting American-made products. Americans have to support our own country especially during these times. No more money or work to other countries.
Better throw away most of your clothes/other home goods then. Such a tired argument. A good product is a good product. You think buying a knife every now and then from the States instead of China makes any difference at all? I don't want to spend 3x as much to get half the knife and design.
With the current state of the market do you still think this knife is worth buying at that price? I also see a significantly higher priced titanium version out now. Does the titanium justify the much higher price tag?
This really looks like a great, affordable piece. I would love to see what it feels like in hand... Would you say that for someone who really really wishes that he could afford to purchase a knife from TRM manufacturing, but can’t justify the cost of one at the present time, could this knife possibly satisfy the needs and come anywhere close to feeling like something like an Atom or Neutron? Man,.. if it only it came with wooden scales....
Another great review Nick ! I actually just bought this one blind basically just on looks on a impulse buy in the CF version and is on the way. Glad to see your positive review on this one and now I’m looking forward to it’s arrival even more 👍🏻
As a newbie to the knife enthusiast world and a resident of the UK with a desire to own a locking flipper (which I can't EDC but wanted one anyway), your reviews have taught me a tremendous amount to help me make my own relatively well informed decisions. There aren't many retailers that will ship a flipper to the UK due to some unfortunate ambiguities in the law which might be interpreted to mean that these are entirely illegal (does a flipper tab count as a button?). After waiting several months for stock to come in for any of the knives I liked (was hoping for a We Kitefin but it has never been available), I happened to come across the Stinger. I immediately knew I wanted it, and figuring the stock would run out in short order (it did), I ordered one straight away. I'm absolutely over the moon with it, and I have to thank you for giving me the knowledge necessary to make the right decision. Thanks Nick!
This piece is a little beauty with refined lines ergo wise. I had one but gave it away but now, regret the heck out of it so I’m now on the hunt for another one 👍 thanks for the vid Nick 😊✌️
Dear Nick. I am following your channel for some time now. I live in Cyprus (a small place in Europe) and I am a big fan of knives ( a very solitary hobby in this part of the world). I own more than 200 folders and I hope that I will keep going in the years to come. Before any wishes for a "Better" New Year please allow me to say with all respect that I have named you as "THE MAN OF ESSENCE" for the knife world. Have a Happy New Year . All the best for you and your family.
I am so so so soooooo depressed that the clip is not reversible for lefties. Otherwise, I would buy this in a heartbeat. Sadly, a non-reversible clip is a deal breaker for me on any knife over $45. Especially given how nice of a stock clip they have on there that makes it even more of a gut punch. I bought the Isham Mckenna front flipper in brass and 154 CM instead of this because they have a reversible clip.
The rounded over liners are fine but I wish they wouldn't round over the lock bar area that's used to disengage the lock I've noticed this on just about every Chinese manufactures not just FF knives and because of that you need to use excess pressure to disengage the lock. If anything the lock bar area should have micro cuts or jimping in that area. It's a real failure IMO, I don't think it's to much to ask to take that extra step, I'm going to try and modify one myself using a cut-off wheel on a Dremel and see how it turns out or maybe a tapered diamond bit would be better.
@@stiglagerfeld9151 i just looked at 2020 gear of the year. It was his knife of the year in the sub $100 category. I had just assumed he’d done a full review before giving it his knife of the year award. Sort of backward.
I just got the WE Saakshi but its so pretty that i am scared to use it and eventually ruin it by trying to sharpen it... I am thinking about getting the Stinger to get the similar blade shape and use it as the edc. One of my main concerns though is that pointy flipper tab...
This looks like a FF Gent 2.0. Lots of design similarities, but improved in all the right places. I’m looking at you, LocTite-ed, free-spinning, T6 pivot. 😡
Kinda looks like the aluminum scale dividend but more boring. Checks all the right boxes except it made in China. It’s a meh for me and I like boring simple , slicers. Anywho thx for vid.
I know I’m quite w bit late to the party, but I’ve been eyeballing this piece for a while and just happened to pick one up for $45 (very lightly used). Nevertheless my comment isn’t so much about the knife (great review as always btw) but rather about the way you went about flipping it. It was just nice seeing that I’m not the only one using my index finger for this process. I get the whole look of Spider-Man shooting web action (also that the spydie reps Spyderco) but I, myself, find it much more comfortable (and easier) deploying most blades with my index (admittedly a few are a little easier using the middle one). Anyhow it was just gratifying to see someone else using their pointing digit. Thanks for everything Nick. Enjoy
Nicolás excelente video como siempre. I found one defect or detail on this model, and that is the liner lock does not have any jimping and for people with bigger hands, like mine 😁 it's a bit bothersome. Gracias.
I tried to purchase one but there sold out everywhere. I tried the Ferrum Forge Prolix. Just got it and it’s really nice. Roughly in the same price range is the Quiet Carry Chase, which I think is a great knife and good steel.
Looks like right hand carry only so for us lefties unfortunately another GEM we miss out on, bummer. Great review Nick keep up the good work and don't forget about us southpaws.
The Stinger costs 126 Euros on this side of the pond. I just thought it might be interesting for you Yanks to know that. Although I have never seen one "in the flesh" let alone handled one, my view is that it is indeed a gem. A good quality knife at this kind of price if a definite winner. It's certainly a smoothie.
Excellent review Nick you hit the nail on the head with this piece. Take a look at the Spartan Blades Astor coming out please let me know what you think.
Beautiful knife , really close to buying it but not sure about the steel. From my research the edge retention of Nitro-V is quite poor, lower than even something like VG10, much worse than even D2. You hate on AUS-8 but it's similar to 440C which has better edge retention than Nitro-V. Why is everyone saying Nitro-V is a good steel?
Ferrum Forge releases a carbon fiber version of the "Pro" series knives first, then a few weeks later they release the G10 versions. The CF version has been, up 'til now, a limited 1 time run and costs an extra ~$20. When they sell out they are gone. If you want a CF Ferrum Forge Pro series knife, you need to buy at release, or search the secondary market. The Ferrum Forge Prolix just dropped today and is available in the CF version only. In a few weeks the G10 will be available. If you like CF and think you might like the design of the Prolix, buy it now. You can always sell it if you don't like it. If you don't care about CF, you can wait for the G10 version and initial reviews to come out.
@@HikikomoriZone Someone told me about it on Instagram not long ago. I was carrying a folding box cutter in 2016 lol I wish I knew about nice knives then.
