Dear friends,
Are you still there? Do you still remember me?
I know it has been a while since I last uploaded, but life has been happening and I have been trying to catch up. I have made a few life changes, so that should help with consistency on here.
Anyway, enough with my excuses! Here is a video for you!
I cannot begin to tell you how honoured I am that Karina agreed to talk to me about her book. I am in awe of how wonderful she is.
Karina M. Szczurek’s memoir is about her life before, with and after her marriage to celebrated South African author, André P. Brink.
I hope you will enjoy this conversation as much as I did.
xx
Linda

Hello. I loved the converstation between you and Karina M. Szczure. It's funny, my partner is Polish and so I am learning Polish and the meaning of Polish words. So today I have learnt what the name 'Szczurek ' means. Which is really interesting. :) Sadly, I have not heard of Karina M. Szczurek or of Andre Brink before, but I am glad to say that I have now gone on to goodreads and added both 'The Fifth Mrs Brink' and 'A Dry White Season' to my to-read books aha, as a priority since both sound so amazing. I loved the part where Karina was talking about the promise she gave to Andre that she would write a book called 'The Fifth Mrs Brink'. It reminded me of the promise to my partner, that I 'will' write a book one day. No matter what! I think it is exellent to create challenges in life and accomplish them, like a bucket list, ect. It is great you both explore the conversations about how books influence: grief, understanding and 'opens up your world'. I was so on boad with that personally and it does show just how important art really is. My favourite part though was Karina's description of love; how you can truly be yourself with the ones that you love. It is also an important note, how guarded you are with people you don't love. Such a beautiful message and I found myself saying in my head - "Yes! I get that." The cat is adorable by the way and looks like one of the cats we look after at home. Aha! I hope you get my message on Goodreads, sorry about the mix-up before. I was supposed to be thanking another person on Goodreads who sent me a book, but I sent it to you accidentaly. I think it would be an amazing idea to have a 'Women Who Run With the Wolves' series of live review chats. It would be such a wonderful idea! I would love to chat more about it on Goodreads.

Hi there Kate! I was wondering where you are! Thanks for tuning in. Very funny indeed that you are currently learning Polish, so many coincidences around us all of the time. I highly recommend this book, it is so honest and raw, anyone who has ever suffered any kind of loss will relate. I also love Karina's description of love, it is such a powerful one. I will check Goodreads now, I am still so bad at it, I need to remember that I am on there! Thanks for the reminder! And yes, we need to start that WWRWW series, super keen! Thanks again for checking in and watching, it is so appreciated. xx Linda
