I was signing up for the November SAT and it stated in the terms and conditions “We occasionally pretest new questions to determine if they should be included in a future SAT test form. These questions may appear in any of the test sections, and testing time will be extended by 20 minutes so test takers have time to answer them. They will not be included in computing students’ scores. Scored test items and entire forms may be used in more than one test administration.”
The ONE singular time I seriously attempted the 5th section of the ACT, I got a perfect 36 on the test. I know this isn't in any way factual, but the karma from trying on section 5 was certainly real for me
Just took my SAT today lmao. Screw swapping questions: that makes things unfair. Contrary to swapping JUST GIVE US EXTRA CREDIT WOOOO LETS GOOO. EXTRA CREDIT IF WE GOT THEM CREDIT AND NO POINTS TAKEN OFF IF WE GET IT WRONG CMON
According to a teacher who actually makes the fifth section test questions, these questions are known as "field test questions," they do not count. However, regardless you should make a effort, if not, try to do your best on them as you would during the "real" exam.
It’s fine! I had one on my August sat, and honestly it was easier than the normal test. Didn’t put much effort into it tho lol. I wouldn’t put the effort in if it’s right before the essay.
According to both my parents in the testing industry, the 5th section doesn't count. Their main explanation is that because there are different test questions, it would be unfair to compare students in different tests (if one student was really good at reading and the section was on reading it would be an unfair advantage, etc) and they're also aware that when people know that there are just sample questions the data tends to skew downwards so they also adjust for that too. That's why i usually slack off on my 5th section
I have a SAT prep book with SATs that have 4 sections. Does this mean I’ll have to buy a new prep book? I’m sorry if Brooke mentions this in the video I didn’t have time to finish it.
TLDR- I rlly hope the 5th section doesn’t count bc if it does, it probably screwed my perfect math score🥲. I just took the June 5th 2021 SAT (no essay), and I had a math-calculator 5th section. This section was actually faster paced than the real section, with 15 questions in 20 mins, as opposed to 38 questions in 55 mins (0.06 more questions per minute on average). Additionally, I found it much harder. While I finished the entire 55 minute calculator section in exactly half that time and checked every single answer (im confident i missed none), in the 5th section, while it could have been stress and fatigue setting in, i didnt even have time to work 2 of the questions and had to randomly guess (one of which was a gridded-response so i definitely missed that). At most 13/15 is wayy worse than nearly 58/58 of the two ‘real’ math sections which i was VERY confident in (I took a practice test where i missed just one on the math so this is feasible). However, if I had just received these harder questions during my 55 minute calculator section, i would have easily had time to do them and get them right, as I even had 5 extra mins in the previos section after rechecking all of them extensively.
this exact situation happened to me today!! I felt on track for a perfect math score, which I had been achieving on the majority of my practice tests, until two of the questions on my experimental section (calculator math). do you think that your fifth section ultimately impacted your score in math in the end?
@@inararabbani4389 Have you checked your SAT results? Did section 5 affect your math score? I just took the October SAT today and I am in the exact situation and am panicking rn lmao
So its 2021....can anyone say if the fifth sections is present still for international students or was it exclusively for the US students only in the first case?
This is not relevant to the fifth section but can i take the sat with essay and submit that sat but without the essay to a college? Cuz I’m applying to schools and both require the essay schools and dont require (nor recommend) the essay. Will I hv stop take the sat once with and once without? I’m asking cuz some people are saying yes and some people are saying no. Please a lot of people respond cuz I really don’t know
This is very anecdotal obviously, but I would suggest doing section 5. I am pretty sure it counts, and here is why. I took the SAT 4 times. Under the impression it did not count, I didn't try to hard on it and answered around half the questions. In August I was given a math calculator section 5 and scored a 630, missing around 10 questions, which was far below my normal score. In October when the exam was released I also had a section 5, but obviously since it was released none of the ones on section 5 counted towards my score, so as expected I did much high, scoring around a 730 (similar to my practice scores). In December I took the SAT again and received a section 5, to which I did not try to hard on, and I scored around a 660 (far below my average). One thing to point out is in December I received the no calculator section 5 and missed a lot on the no calculator section, whereas in August I received the calculator section and missed a lot on the calculator section. In March there was no section 5 because I took it in school, and as expected I scored far higher and a similar score to my practice test, a 790. My math score could just be naturally fluctuating, but it is too strange not to point out.
@@varanv1581 bro , give me your contacts , could u share mb some useful materials for prep , and btw I have some . I need reading and writing sections only
As much as I love love love Brooke and her videos, I always feel like an idiot watching them bc her students have like 4.7 GPAs and 1580s on the SAT and i’m an EXTREMELY average student. I know she’d be disappointed in me :(
Isabella Alesandrini I am not disappointed in you! Please don’t feel like an idiot. I do not think your grades or scores define you. We all have different talents, skills and perspectives we offer the world. School was my jam but other people have strengths I don’t. It’s ok to be an average student- and that doesn’t mean you aren’t an awesome human.
