Golf just got added. You need a gigantic plot of land with a lot of expensive maintenance to play golf. You need a mudpit, mat or any other 10x10 plot of land to do wrestling, but since the people who like golf are rich and have a lot of money to lobby, It’s an olympic sport now 🤡🤡
traditional wrestling of india is so inspiring... to be honest, i view it more as a martial art.. the guys come in young, train everday, be disciplined in valuing the mud.. eat only what is healthy.. and pray as if your life depended on it... and may the gods be with you on the mats.. i just love indian wrestling
@kb theres actually a government initiative now to produce more Olympic level wrestlers.. the video shown above is a form of traditional wrestling (much like how africa, mongolia and dagestan), it has different rules and practice as modern wrestling.. more of a cultural practice modern day elite level wrestling prioritizes science over tradition.. they practice olympic rules at a young age, use statistical data analysis to assess athlete performance, scientific nutrition and weight-cutting techniques, injury rehab, equipment, and most importantly "athletes getting paid" to ease financial burden to their families and just focus on training ..these are important factors considered when making olympic athletes
@kb when I was a kid Indian/Pakistani squash players ruled the sport. I'm assuming you mean field hockey when you say hockey? I can't picture there being many ice rinks or frozen ponds in India.
@kb Was just thinking about that while watching this...There could be two reasons a) Indian parents mentality is that if you can afford it, get your kids an education and put everything into it (leaving no room to dedicate yourself to anything else). As a result only those who don't have a lot of options and see sports as a way out of poverty dedicate themselves to it. . b) Second big reason I think is that our wrestling is traditional, the skills, the coaches and the mass participation is in villages and in these mud akharas....even the rules are different to Greco-roman wrestling...a number of kids who dedicate themselves find it hard to adjust to mats after foundational years following a different system...so yes, we do produce world class wrestlers...but they are for a different system and the system, the rules and the dynamics/techniques of mat wrestling in international competition is different....Imagine if wrestling in akharas became standard tomorrow...who do you think would win the medals?
Wrestlers are real beast they knows what's up, many great champions comes from all around the world each having their own cultures and traditions,This is so inspiring.
Im from Bengal. When my father got transferred to Haryana. I joined Akhada because I was always a weak guy. In a little more than 1 year I gained 26kg of muscle from 42kg to 68kg. The same thing i could never do in a gym. I became very strong and disciplined. Fell in love with wrestling. Now I have a stable business and though I have quit wrestling, I sponsor 3 wrestlers. All three are very promising. *I'M ALSO COMMITTED TO RECONSTRUCT MUSTHI YUDDHA* (The ancient art of fist fighting, that gave birth to Lithwei, muay thai, muay kao, muay lao, pradal sarrey, and many other popular fight styles today) THAT HAS BECOME LOST TO TIME DUE TO COLONIZATION. WE MUST SAVE OUR HERITAGE FROM EXTINCTION.
Hello. I, too, am from Bengal and I want to write about traditional Indian martial arts. Would it be possible to talk to you about what you learnt, the kinds of locks and throws there are and the mechanics of how it works? I don't know if you'll get a notification, but if you do, I hope you'll consider giving me some of your time. Thank you in advance!
Amateur wrestlers are the most conditioned athletes period! They have strength, endurance like no other athlete possesses and flexibilty. They are the complete package.
Every sportsperson who stands for India in international stage have an inspiring story. This country has lot of potential.Hopefully,we will produce some champion wrestler's.

Wrestling was in India aswell. And Greeks got inspired from it. Watch a video of thoughty2 where the library of Alexandria was burnt down...at that time, solider of the Roman Empire took the scrolls which had any knowledge init and made a copy of it and sent the copy back to their real owner and kept the original one to themselves
For those that don't know; wrestling on the mats you score points even if your front, bum or side hits the mat while akhara wrestling you must pin them down on the back of their neck and shoulders.
Wrestlers are ruling the MMA world now ...look at their biggest promotion UFC...khabib and DC are champs .... wrestlers have amazing stamina and gas tank ...hope someday an Indian wrestler make it to the UFC...
True bro...I was thinking the same.....take any of the top UFC champion, he will be a great wrestler...like DC, Khabib, Cane, Fedor JDS etc. I mean you can't be a good fighter if you can't wrestle.
They are real humans... With too much discipline.... Utmost love for country and zero ego in their lifestyle.... As they are aggressive in ring... But they are really peaceful people outside akhada........ Respect..
The Olympic games generally make about 5 billion dollars in revenue, while the costs of actually hosting the event usually exceeds 20 billion. Cities usually choose to host the Olympics as a long term investment to bring in tourists or to stir up economic growth. Also, Olympic athletes do get payed. In the United States, you got paid around 35,000 dollars per gold medal you bring in, and you can also have sponsors that provide additional monetary support.
They are the future of Indian Olympics...they will make India proud...wresting is their passion...They are our 'Shers'...you will never know when they will activate the beast in them
Excellent, mere desh ke mehnat karne walo pahelwano aap ki mehnat rang laye aap India ka naam roshan karo God bless you jai maa bhadrkali har har Mahadev har har Mahadev har har Mahadev.
Pakistan, India and the rest of South Asia should hold its own Pehlwani competition. If the Japanese can retain the tradition of Sumo wrestling in the face of Westernization, I think we should also make an effort to revive this sport and make it profitable for the contestants and organizers. We could have national 'Rustams' as well as a free category where anyone could compete from anywhere in the subcontinent. Make it respectable and a bit glamourous.
There are 11Mio cubans or 45 mio ukrainians and they are world class in boxing, 3 mio armenians and 30 Mio Moroccans and they are world class in kick boxing, 80 mio persians or turks and they are dominant in wrestling. There are 1.3 Bio Indians and they are massively under represented in any combat sport. If you think about tough people you think about russians, brazilians, mexikans...then maybe afghans, thais, north africans, persians.....indians (and pakistanis, bengalis...) are literally the last that will come to your mind. Indians are smart and calm people, they don’t have this hot temper Btw: Its not meant as an insult
Bidu Bidu thats the general perception at least where i live (germany). Indians and pakistanis are most of the time calm guys, they don’t go out much don’t get into fights. There are no indian or pakistani street gangs, hooligans or bikers. They just don’t have a „bad guy“ Image.
Dhanyawad olympic channel apka ....Ye bhai saare middle class family te aame or itna naam hone k baad b ye simple rehte h ....Sb kuch asan h pehlwani k alava
As an avid fan of the late great Gama pehle an I salute you guys and I tell you that it’s my dream to train with you guys one day soon, and I’m saying this at 30 years of age! ❤️🙏🏼👊🏼💪🏼🤼♂️
Wrestling is a sport of determination and straight up muscle. No resources required. Look at where people excel in wrestling- the Caucusus, Greater Persia, South Asia. These people are straight up warriors
We are always forget the contributions of wrestlers in Olympics games.they are going for win medals but we are indian give more preference to the cricketers and they cry on the defeat of indian team but we didn't cheer them on any occasion. So i will convince to those please give your atleast 20 % contribution towards wrestling. Because they are not play for themselves rather then they play for their nation.
Olympics is freestyle wrestling and not big belly catch wrestling like the old school wrestlers, this is why Iranians don't do old school wrestling anymore
I wish I had the enough money to give these guys some financial support. These days the time is worst for me so..even lower condition then them...but I will love to do that some day.
Im From INDIA....& we Have Properly Diet...Indians and Indian wrestler are 100% Vegetarian and wrestler are Eat Desi Cow Ghee.....And We Do Gym with Natural Thinks Without any Electronic Machine
@@harshadpawar9045 m also into fitness and wrestling for a long time..n i guess u have no idea about diet and nutrition...vegans hVe a great problem with keeping up the protein. Requirement...u cannot gain much untill n unless u eat meat..they lack creatine...lack protein...are taking trans fats..its horrible
Indians commenting about diet, don't know what a good diet is.. It's not their fault.. We just don't know that.. From a very young age we are told that ghee(butter) is the most imp and healthy for an athlete.. Diet is the main reason why Indian atheletes are a bit behind.. then training/coaches also..
