My mom attempted suicide when I was young. She had been raped and beaten and left with epilepsy and numerous health conditions and basically reduced to a stay at home mom who HAS to stay at home. I saw the pain she was in, and I resented her for it. I got the ambulance as soon as I figured out what was happening and she lived, and died in her sleep 15 years later (from a seizure). You shouldn't speak so callously about people who have committed suicide or are thinking about it. Talking shit about them isnt the way to help them or those they leave behind. Just my 2 cents.

how are they shitting on bourdain here? do people not actually know what happened yet? he's filming a show in another country and had an argument with someone, neither of those are typical of someone who is wanting to die that badly, it could happen, but it would be very abnormal behavior for someone about to kill themselves. he is also a very good writer and good with his words, and yet there was no note or goodbye to his daughter, again, in this case that would seem out of place. he also had problems with heroin and in many cases people like that experienced so much pleasure that it dulls the senses and it's hard for them to get off sexually without it being quite extreme so they get into really hardcore sex acts. now factor in the fact that he is on record saying if he ever killed himself it would be with heroin, and that he was found naked in his bathroom and was hanging from the doorknob with his bath robe belt... this isn't a real mystery here. the man was doing what is known as auto-erotic asphyxiation, they typically do it from a door because then you can stand up if you start to feel light-headed but there are literally hundreds if not thousands of "suicides" each year from people who are trying to get their rocks off and are found like this, for whatever reason the families would rather just call it a suicide than be honest about how they found them, which is usually hanging from a doorknob with their dick out. i liked anthony, but given his behavior not fitting with someone who is suicidal, his drug problems which lend themselves to this behavior, no note, and the glaring fact that he was hanging from the doorknob with his bathrobe belt while naked... if this was a suicide then he purposefully did everything he could do to make it look like an accident while trying to jack off, which isn't something a suicidal person would do. the man wasn't some asshole who killed himself and left his kid behind, he's a man with a previous drug problem that dulled his pleasure center and needed something extra to get off, and he made a massive mistake that cost him his life. this isn't a burn or something negative about him, everyone masturbates, he was just doing it in a very strange way that most people can't understand and he messed up. now stop calling him an asshole, he was a good man who made a mistake that cost him his life, and had he actually killed himself you would have seen a note or some kind of "obvious after the fact" sign that he was saying goodbye to his family and his daughter.

Bro Brendan listen man I'm a fan of yours but you're sounding extremely ignorant and uneducated right now talking about Depression and why people commit suicide being celebrities or not. To say the people who do it are selfish and don't think about the one's they're hurting and love is dead wrong and one of the most disrespectful thing's you can say about someone who committed suicide because of mental illness. That's what makes it even more painful cuz they know how bad the people they love are gonna hurt which can in return make the suffering even worse. The only reason people can say those thing's is because they have the luxury of not feeling what it's like to suffer the grip of mental illness and the utter hell that depression is. It destroys lives period. And Yes many people do self medicate. This is a normal thing with people that suffer because the way these illness's make them feel is so damn bad that they are desperate beyond measure to escape it by any means necessary, sometimes no matter the cost. Just stop and think for one second how bad somebody has to be suffering in order to make the decision take their own life. The thing about mental illness is it is very very complicated and almost impossible to expalin unless you've felt it or suffer from it and can actually feel what it does to you. There is absolutely no way at all you could ever understand what it does or how bad it is to live with. Trust me when I tell you it's the most frustrating thing in the world to try to explain something to someone that's invisible to the rest of the world with you being the exception. I'm not saying you care or even that you need to for that matter but if you want to discuss it or make comments in judgement of the one's suffering then you at the very least need to do your research and talk to people who have it in depth or Dr's that study it. Just know that I know you're a good dude or seem like it so there's no hard feelings. I just wanted to pass a long some info. Now having said that I know for a fact that being rich, having financial freedom, banging hot chicks, and living the good life the majority of the time would make me a whole hell of a lot happier that's for damn sure.
