How long would you wait in line for a popcorn bucket shaped like everyone's favorite little purple dragon? 30 minutes? An hour? 4 hours? 7? Y'know, I think this needs to be talked about. It needs to be documented. Which is why I'm here.

@happiestplace3754

There was a limit on the buckets just like there is a limit on ALL merchandise right now in the parks. However, it's a "silent" limit, meaning there are signs up saying it, but it is up to you being a good person and following the rule. However, if you are a Karen, and ask for 10, Disney cast members can not verbally refuse you and have to give you what they want. The Karens of the world know this and take advantage of this unwritten rule.

I was at Epcot on Monday and at 9AM I saw multiple people already leaving (annual passholders?) leaving with many! I saw one woman leaving with 8. Due to the limit of 2 per person, people were loading up their kids too. I finally found the stand but it had sold out of the buckets just 20 minutes before getting there. As a fan of the original ride (yep that old), I really wanted this as a piece of memorabilia that belonged to my childhood. It was really a bummer. @justins8802 2 года назад
On one hand I agree, Disney could have sold them faster, but on the other, they didn’t make anyone wait in that line. No one needed that bucket, and they should probably be ashamed that they traded a day at Disney (and for some, their kids’ day) for a bucket. And on yet another hand, they probably ordered a fixed amount of them six months earlier and had no way to get more quickly, so selling them faster on the first day would have just meant more people with later trips would have no chance at them.

I'd add not just figment- The Dreamfinder too! There's a certain je-ne-sais-quoi to classic Disney (especially EPCOT) in-park rides and attractions. They weren't afraid to make something really niche and novel and the original Imagination ride was absolutely that.

I waited maybe 15 minutes for a popcorn bucket at DCA over the holidays, and that was pushing it for as long as I’d be willing to wait, no matter how badly I wanted something. The Figment bucket is absolutely adorable, but not really worth wasting half a day in the park in my opinion.

I'm someone who's never even been to WDW, only Disneyland/DCA, and I absolutely adore Figment. I always trade for Figment pins when I can find them, and he's by far my favorite Disney Parks original character. This whole mess with the popcorn buckets really cements how much people love Figment and Journey into Imagination. It really seems like a no-brainer to redo the ride to be closer to the original version. The cost of redoing it would be pocket change compared to the hordes of people coming to the park and buying new merch JUST for Journey Into Imagination. All that said, as a DLR goer rather than WDW, I'd never wait more than an hour and a half in line for literally anything at a park, if I knew I could come back again someday. If it was a once in a lifetime trip, sure, I'd go up to three hours if and only if I had the time in my schedule to do so. I'm so used to doing single rider lines and going places during non-peak times that WDW's lines in general are mind-boggling to me. I'll stick to spending less money at the smaller parks with fewer things to do. However, if Journey Into Imagination comes back...it may just bring me to Orlando. And THAT is the power of Figment.

The same thing happened when they released the Elliot popcorn bucket for the return of the Main Street electrical parade. They sold out. Not just the buckets but all of the electrical parade merchandise. However, the difference: they had a bunch of buckets still in stock waiting to arrive at resort. I just came back from Disneyland and they had so many Elliot buckets you just wonder what they will do with them once the parade ends it’s run. And there were no lines to purchase the buckets. To be honest, the Elliot bucket looks better than the figment bucket (I know I know both of them are dragons but Elliot lights up lol).

I was more than lucky enough to have rode the original Journey Into Imagination many times from my first WDW trip around 1989 up through when I was living in Orlando from 1995 on. In fact, the year it was going to close I went to Epcot and rode JII at least 20 times that day. At one point I was even able to just stay on the ride instead of getting off just to get back on again. On one of the last ride throughs that day a cast member asked my name and before leaving the park that day I was given a certificate with my name that said No. 1 fan and friend of Figment. I still have that certificate framed to this day.

I understand they ran out of the popcorn mid-way through the day, which might account for the wait dropping to two hours. Some people wanted it complete. I unironically LOVE Living w the land, man.All my family and friends really don't care for it all that much, but something about it really just scratches that Epcot itch for me. I love looking around the various scenes (before you go to the greenhouses) and just trying to find some new detail that I've not noticed before. Maybe that's something in the yard of the farmhouse scene, or a few antique-looking lanterns scattered throughout; all of the smaller stuff is just so interesting to me. Where did they get that [insert LWtL prop here]? Where did that antique plow start its life? How did this object end up living out its days being seen by thousands of people every day in a Disney ride? I just love that stuff and LWtL is chock full of it. Then, of course the greenhouses are awesome too. Idk, I just feel like I have a special connection with that ride. On another note, and it's kinda scary that I even have to say this, but hopefully it sticks around and is able to make it through the current Disney leadership. It embodies Epcot for me personally, and the thought of it going away in favor of making some new cheap IP ride (as is the case for a ton of rides at this point) is heartbreaking. When LWtL dies, Epcot dies. It would no longer be the park it was meant to be, it would just become another catch-all park with a bunch of rides that don't fit together, make no sense, and are clear cash grabs. Please, just keep Epcot alive. Ok ok, yes, you can make Hollywood Studios into another catch-all for IP attractions that don't fit any theme anymore, but PLEASE don't hurt my dearest, Epcot. Keep Epcot Epcot. It deserves to be treated with respect.

I have never been to WDW. I'm a California girl who loves Disneyland, and wants to go to WDW with her husband someday. But I know I would have loved Journey Into Imagination as a kid, and I'm nostalgic for something I've never experienced. Ever since I learned about the ride a few years ago, I've loved it and hope they bring it back for me to ride someday. I wouldn't wait 7 hours in line for a popcorn bucket though. I am a pin collector and wouldn't even do it for a pin hence why I was upset that getting pins at the El Capitan Theatre started going in the direction of people having to camp out over night to get an LE pin.

I was covering the festival for ClownfishTV and waited roughly an hour in line to get the bucket at 10:30. This was on the day that they sold out: 1/17. The line never got to the length we saw on the first day. When cast members put out the sign saying the Figment bucket was no longer available, they were still unboxing more, but the line had collapsed to about a 30-minute wait.

I love all your videos but as a huge Figment fan I really appreciate this one! I did get to ride the original and I was able to get a picture with Dreamfinder and Figment back in the early ‘90s. What we have not done is visit durring the Arts Festival which I would love to do sometime.

This reminds me of Japanese overall selling policies/techniques, which are also done in theme parks (including Tokyo Disneyland & Disney Sea). New products/lines/events and popular limited sales almost always have a "Only 1 article per person" policy (or x limited amount, depending on the product). This, of course, includes new or super popular popcorn buckets. They actually take a lot of measures when there's a hint that a lot of people are going to be lining up, even scheduling entry to a shop fast pass style like you would a ride. While they might do it to have a wider availability and crowd control, I think it wouldn't be a bad first countermeasure to resellers as well

You and Dan need ME as a third co-host because I'm an OLD, and I actually have been on all these now extinct attractions like Journey into Imagination. It really kind of kills me when I watch Foolish Mortals and both of you are talking about extinct attractions or abandoned effects on attractions that I actually remember, and you're both sitting there saying, that would have been cool to see...it WAS cool to see and I can tell you about it!

I love figment, and I wore my figment hat proudly to the parks every day from 1/2-16 (someone would say, "I love your hat", about once every hour). Leading up to the 14th, and especially after, cast members kept asking me if I was going to get or had gotten the popcorn bucket. I just told them that I did not know what to do with that bucket (I have a normal $12 bucket). I do buy cute figment clothing, plush, or art, but I am baffled by that bucket, the crazy demand for it, and how much the Disney cast was pushing it.

This popcorn bucket is something that can be 3d printed easily. Also, I keep hearing rumors that Disney wants to re-theme Journey into Imagination to a movie like Inside-Out. Instead of re-theming the ride to a movie why not make a movie themed to the ride like POTC?

My cousin used to work the ride as a student. He just passed in fall from covid and left 2 little boys. Figment was his favorite so when our family heard there would be a figment bucket we told the boys and they got excited. Not thinking at all that it would be an issue we told them we could get one for each of them so when they went to Disney next time it felt like a part of Dad was with them. Cut to a few days later and Disney is hyping up this bucket like no ones business. We knew then it was going to be a problem. I called a friend who was going day 2 of FOTA and asked her to do her best. Then day one had “7 hour” lines and I told her forget it. She was awesome and waited only 1 hour (still 55 mins too long for a bucket!) on day two and was able to get one and said she would try again for another later on in the festival if she could. She said a lot of it was hype. Disney knew what they were doing 100%. Its a damn popcorn bucket. They hyped it online to create the buzz and it went viral. People wanted it b/c its exclusive. Had they just put it out at all the snack kiosks, one special line and not made such a huge deal about it then that 7 hour wait would not have happened. They will do anything right now to have you waste your standby time and get you to buy Genie+ in order to experience rides and attractions. It used to be the only people who even got fun popcorn buckets were kids who threw tantrums for them on the popcorn line. Now its adults throwing tantrums for them. Its bull. My friend who waited is an angel for trying to make two grieving boys happy. They’ll be grateful to share their bucket. Hope the resellers and collectors have fun with their dust magnets.

I was fortunate to ride the original version and rode the ride every chance I got. I've been waiting over half my life for an Imagination revamp, and the letdown of D23 Expo 2019 just crushed me. It hasn't helped that a friend of mine told me that they'll most likely create a new ride before even touching Journey Into Imagination. It does help to see so many people genuinely get excited over this popcorn bucket because they love the character. I think I will just continue to foolishly hope they'll announce the revamp soon.

So I just came back from a Disney World trip, and whenever I told people I was a Figment fan (I even wore Figment Mickey mouse ears one day and a Figment T-Shirt on another) people would always ask, "Did you get the popcorn bucket?" I don't own the bucket, but I do own an almost 3 foot long sleeping Figment plushie. He's very soft!

I saw the original on my honeymoon and have been an avid fan ever since. I don't mind the current version but still miss Dreamfinder. What I'd like to see is a new version of it based on the comics. It gives a solid nod to the original ride, adds to the story without feeling too dated, and opens up more possibilities and ways they can expand on his story. And it gets rid of the whole scientist gag that's outlived it's usefulness that really didn't age well.

Found myself twice in the first 5 minutes of the video. To me it was worth the wait since I just got my bucket, soup, and poptart then left. Yes it was cold, drama filled, and kind of annoying to be questioned by passers by but look I had time to spare, I didn’t really care.

I work for Bath and Body Works and we have problems with resellers too! One time we had a couple come in and spend over $5,000 on product and it took us AN HOUR to scan and pack all of it. I have a theory (just my personal theory, not related to the company at all) that resellers are trying to prey on the international market and use that as an excuse for the high prices. Someone in France who really wants that popcorn bucket can go online and find it but the resellers are going to argue “oh well shipping fees and international costs” to justify the exorbitant price tag when really a lot of it is their own greed. It’s so sad!
