Interestingly, although FilmConvert is designed to work with Rec 709 I found that working inside a color managed HDR workflow inside Davinci and exporting to Rec2020 ST2084 (grading from a MacBook 1600 nits screen), gives me a much nicer result then the expected SDR export. Even the default HDR->SDR RU-vid conversion of these files is producing a very nice file to be seen on SDR monitors…

Friend, tell me, as far as I remember, color adjustment circles are only available with Braw inside the camera and Nikon Z9. Can I color correct with HLG? Or do I at least need a camera with LOG? If I want to make videos in HDR, then HLG will suit me, but if I then want to convert it to SDR, will my color be different?

I’m a little confused by your question can you rephrase it? What I do know is yes if you wanna make an HDR video you need to have Log or HLG but both of those can also be SDR. Resolves color management should handle that for you

@@sidneybakergreen The HLG format was created for BBC broadcasts, LOG was created for conversions. If I don’t have LOG in the camera but have HLG, will the color not be scattered during color correction?

@@ggdfggdfgdffgfddg34 if you are using color management it’s going to take care of that for you. Hybrid log gamma as a combination of Log and gamma. Your highlights are log your shadows are gamma. Generally you would use HLG for live streaming or something like that. That said, as long as you have your input color space set up correctly and you’re using color management you’ll be fine regardless of which when you go to.
